L'invention concerne un adaptateur (3) servant au montage d'un élément de retenue (5) d'une poignée de porte ou de fenêtre (2) pouvant être fixé par complémentarité de forme dans une ouverture de logement (8) d'un encadrement de fenêtre (1), d'un battant de porte ou similaire, comportant une enveloppe (31), une base (36) s'étendant à partir d'une surface intérieure de l'enveloppe (31) et présentant un logement polygonal (34) et au moins deux perçages (33), l'enveloppe (31) présentant au moins un évidement (32) logeant un élément de serrage (54) pouvant être extrait radialement d'un corps de base (51) de l'élément de retenue (5). L'invention concerne par ailleurs un système de poignée de porte ou de fenêtre placé dans une ouverture de logement d'un encadrement de fenêtre, d'un battant de porte ou similaire.
