Description
本発明は、空気入りタイヤに関し、更に詳しくは、タイヤ内面に接着した帯状吸音材に切り込みを入れることにより、転動時において帯状吸音材に生じる応力を緩和し、帯状吸音材の耐久性を改善すると共に、帯状吸音材からの放熱を促進し、高速耐久性を改善することを可能にした空気入りタイヤに関する。
タイヤ騒音を発生させる原因の一つにタイヤ空洞部に充填された空気の振動による空洞共鳴音がある。この空洞共鳴音は、車両走行時に路面と接地するタイヤのトレッド部が路面の凹凸によって振動し、この振動がタイヤ空洞部内の空気を振動させることによって生じる。この空洞共鳴音の中で騒音となる周波数域があり、その周波数域の騒音レベルを低下させることがタイヤ騒音を低減するのに重要である。
このような空洞共鳴現象による騒音を低減させる方法として、タイヤ内面にスポンジ等の多孔質材料からなる吸音材を弾性固定バンドによりトレッド部の内周面に装着することが提案されている(例えば、特許文献1参照)。しかしながら、吸音材の固定を弾性固定バンドに依存した場合、高速走行時において弾性固定バンドが変形してしまうという問題がある。
これに対して、帯状吸音材をタイヤ内面に直接接着して固定する方法が提案されている(例えば、特許文献2参照)。しかしながら、この場合、タイヤ内面に帯状吸音材が直貼りされているためトレッド部に蓄熱が生じ、その蓄熱により高速耐久性が悪化するという問題がある。また、帯状吸音材をタイヤ内面に直貼りした場合、接地時に帯状吸音材がタイヤの撓みに追従することができず破断してしまうという問題がある。
本発明の目的は、タイヤ内面に接着した帯状吸音材に切り込みを入れることにより、転動時において帯状吸音材に生じる応力を緩和し、帯状吸音材の耐久性を改善すると共に、帯状吸音材からの放熱を促進し、高速耐久性を改善することを可能にした空気入りタイヤを提供することにある。
上記目的を達成するための本発明の空気入りタイヤは、タイヤ周方向に延在して環状をなすトレッド部と、該トレッド部の両側に配置された一対のサイドウォール部と、これらサイドウォール部のタイヤ径方向内側に配置された一対のビード部とを備え、前記トレッド部の内面にタイヤ周方向に沿って帯状吸音材が接着された空気入りタイヤにおいて、前記帯状吸音材に、互いに交差した二方向に延びる複数の切り込みを有し、かつこれら切り込みのうちいずれか一方向に延びる切り込みがタイヤ幅方向又はタイヤ周方向に対して平行に延びる切り込みであることを特徴とするものである。
本発明では、帯状吸音材に互いに交差した二方向に延びる複数の切り込みを有しているので、転動時にタイヤが撓んだ際に帯状吸音材の切り込みが開いて、タイヤの変形に追従し、帯状吸音材に生じる応力を緩和し、帯状吸音材の破断を抑制することが可能となる。これにより、帯状吸音材の耐久性を改善することができる。また、繰り返し変形時に、帯状吸音材が開口し、帯状吸音材の見かけ上のゲージが薄くなるので、帯状吸音材からの放熱が促進され、空気入りタイヤの高速耐久性を向上させることが可能となる。
しかしながら、帯状吸音材に互いに交差した二方向に延びる切り込みを設けた場合、切り込みにより区画された各ブロックには、転動時にタイヤ周方向に対する力が働いてブロックの倒れこみが生じる。このようなブロックの倒れこみが転動時に繰り返し生じることにより、ブロック同士が互いに擦れ合って帯状吸音材の破断に繋がる要因となる。特に、タイヤ幅方向又はタイヤ周方向に延びる切り込みを有さず傾斜した切り込みのみを設けた場合には、各ブロックは回転方向の前方に位置する2つのブロックから倒れこみによるタイヤ周方向に対する応力を受けるため、応力を受けたブロックの倒れ込みが大きくなり帯状吸音材がより破断し易くなる。そこで、二方向に延びる切り込みのうちいずれか一方向に延びる切り込みをタイヤ周方向又はタイヤ幅方向に対して平行に延びる切り込みとすることにより、各ブロックは回転方向の前方に位置する1つのブロックからタイヤ周方向に対する応力を受けるのみとなり、ブロックの倒れこみを抑えることができる。これにより、ブロック同士の擦れが緩和され、帯状吸音材の破断をより一層抑制することが可能となる。
切り込みの間隔tは帯状吸音材の幅Wsに対して5%~90%であることが好ましく、更には15%~30%がより好ましい。これにより、タイヤの高撓み状態での接地転動時に帯状吸音材の切り込みが開いて、タイヤの変形に追従し、帯状吸音材に生じる応力を緩和し、帯状吸音材の破断を抑制することが可能となる。その結果、帯状吸音材の耐久性を改善することが可能となる。
切り込みの深さdは帯状吸音材の厚さDに対して20%~80%であることが好ましく、更には30%~60%がより好ましい。これにより、転動時に帯状吸音材の切り込みが開き、帯状吸音材からの放熱を促進し、空気入りタイヤの高速耐久性を向上させることが可能となる。また、タイヤの高撓み状態での接地転動に起因する帯状吸音材の破断を効果的に抑制することが可能となる。
帯状吸音材の体積はタイヤの内腔体積に対して10%~30%であることが好ましい。これにより、帯状吸音材による吸音効果をより一層得ることが可能となる。このように帯状吸音材の体積を大きくすることで優れた騒音低減効果を得ることができ、しかも大型の帯状吸音材であっても良好な応力緩和効果と放熱効果を発揮することができる。空洞部の体積は、タイヤを正規リムにリム組みして正規内圧を充填した状態でタイヤとリムとの間に形成される空洞部の体積である。「正規リム」とは、タイヤが基づいている規格を含む規格体系において、当該規格がタイヤ毎に定めるリムであり、例えば、JATMAであれば標準リム、TRAであれば“Design Rim”、或いはETRTOであれば“Measuring Rim”とする。但し、タイヤが新車装着タイヤの場合には、このタイヤが組まれた純正ホイールを用いて空洞部の体積を求めることとする。「正規内圧」とは、タイヤが基づいている規格を含む規格体系において、各規格がタイヤ毎に定めている空気圧であり、JATMAであれば最高空気圧、TRAであれば表“TIRE ROAD LIMITS AT VARIOUS COLD INFLATION PRESSURES”に記載の最大値、ETRTOであれば“INFLATION PRESSURE”であるが、タイヤが新車装着タイヤの場合には、車両に表示された空気圧とする。
帯状吸音材はタイヤ周方向の少なくとも一箇所に欠落部を有することが好ましい。これにより、タイヤのインフレートによる膨張や、接地転動に起因する接着面のせん断ひずみに長時間耐えることが可能となる。
以下、本発明の構成について添付の図面を参照しながら詳細に説明する。 図1及び図2は本発明の実施形態からなる空気入りタイヤを示すものである。図1において、本実施形態の空気入りタイヤは、タイヤ周方向に延在して環状をなすトレッド部1と、トレッド部1の両側に配置された一対のサイドウォール部2と、これらサイドウォール部2のタイヤ径方向内側に配置された一対のビード部3とを備えている。
上記空気入りタイヤにおいて、タイヤ内面4のトレッド部1に対応する領域には、タイヤ周方向に沿って接着層5を介して帯状吸音材6が接着されている。帯状吸音材6は、連続気泡を有する多孔質材料から構成され、その多孔質構造に基づく所定の吸音特性を有している。帯状吸音材6の多孔質材料としては発泡ポリウレタンを用いると良い。一方、接着層5としては、両面接着テープが好ましい。
帯状吸音材6には互いに交差した二方向に延びる複数の切り込み7が形成されている。これら切り込み7のうち、タイヤ幅方向又はタイヤ周方向に対して平行に延びる切り込み7を第一切り込み7aとし、第一切り込み7aとは異なる方向に延びる切り込み7を第二切り込み7bとする。また、図3に示すように、第一切り込み7aのタイヤ幅方向に対する角度を角度θ1、第二切り込み7bのタイヤ幅方向に対する角度を角度θ2とし、第一切り込み7aと第二切り込み7bのなす角度を角度θ3とする。このとき、第一切り込み7aと第二切り込み7bのなす角度θ3は鋭角側の角度により示す。なお、図3においてTcはタイヤ周方向、Twはタイヤ幅方向である。
即ち、帯状吸音材6には、角度θ1を0°又は90°とする第一切り込み7aと、角度θ2を有する第二切り込み7bが配置されている。図3は角度θ1が90°である第一切り込み7aと角度θ2が30°である第二切り込み7bが配置された場合を示し、このとき角度θ3は60°である。
上述した空気入りタイヤにおいて、角度θ2は特に限定されないが、第一切り込み7aの角度θ1が0°の場合、第二切り込み7bの角度θ2の絶対値は15°~90°の範囲にあることが好ましく、更には60°~90°の範囲にあることがより好ましい。一方、第一切り込み7aの角度θ1が90°の場合、第二切り込み7bの角度θ2の絶対値は0°~75°の範囲にあることが好ましい。また、角度θ3の絶対値は15°~90°の範囲にあることが好ましく、更には30°~60°の範囲にあることがより好ましい。帯状吸音材6に互いに交差した二方向に延びる複数の第一切り込み7a、第二切り込み7bを有しているので、転動時にタイヤが撓んだ際に帯状吸音材6の第一切り込み7a、第二切り込み7bが開いて、タイヤの変形に追従し、帯状吸音材6に生じる応力を緩和し、帯状吸音材6の破断を抑制することが可能となる。その結果、帯状吸音材6の耐久性を改善することができる。また、繰り返し変形時に、帯状吸音材6の第一切り込み7a、第二切り込み7bが開くことにより、帯状吸音材6の見かけ上のゲージが薄くなるので、帯状吸音材6からの放熱が促進され、空気入りタイヤの高速耐久性を向上させることが可能となる。
図6(a)は、角度θ1が90°である第一切り込み7aと角度θ2が30°である第二切り込み7bにより区画された帯状吸音材6の一部のブロック61を示し、図6(b)は本発明との比較例として、角度θ1及び角度θ2が共に45°である第一切り込み7aと第二切り込み7bにより区画された帯状吸音材6の一部のブロック61を示す。
ここで、第一切り込み7aと第二切り込み7bにより区画された帯状吸音材6の各ブロック61には、転動時にタイヤ周方向に対する力が働いてブロック61の倒れこみが生じる。このようなブロック61の倒れこみが転動時に繰り返し生じることにより、ブロック61同士が互いに擦れ合って帯状吸音材6の破断に繋がる要因となる。図6(a)に示すように、二方向に延びる第一切り込み7aと第二切り込み7bのうち、第一切り込み7aがタイヤ周方向又はタイヤ幅方向に対して平行に延びる構成とすることにより、各ブロック61が受けるタイヤ周方向に対する応力は回転方向Rの前方に位置する一つのブロック61(斜線を引いた1つのブロック61)に限られるため、ブロック61の倒れこみを抑えることができる。これにより、ブロック61同士の擦れが緩和され、帯状吸音材6の破断をより一層抑制することが可能となる。一方、図6(b)に示すように、いずれもタイヤ幅方向、タイヤ周方向に対して平行に延びる切り込みでない第一切り込み7aと第二切り込み7bを設けた場合には、各ブロック61は回転方向Rの前方に位置する2つのブロック61(斜線を引いた2つのブロック61)から倒れこみによるタイヤ周方向に対する応力を受けるため、応力を受けたブロック61の倒れ込みが大きくなり帯状吸音材6がより破断し易くなる。
図3に示すように、切り込み7の間隔を間隔tとする。このとき、切り込み7の間隔tは帯状吸音材6の幅Wsに対して5%~90%であることが好ましく、更には15%~30%がより好ましい。ここで言う間隔tとは、同一方向に延びる切り込み7の相互間隔である。また、帯状吸音材6の切り込み7の間隔をランダムに配置しても良いが、各方向の引張り歪に対し均一に対応できることから帯状吸音材6の切り込み7の間隔tを一定として切り込み7を等間隔に配置することがより好ましい。これにより、タイヤの高撓み状態での接地転動時に帯状吸音材6の切り込み7が開いて、タイヤの変形に追従し、帯状吸音材6に生じる応力を緩和し、帯状吸音材6の破断を抑制することができる。その結果、帯状吸音材6の耐久性を改善することが可能となる。
図4は帯状吸音材6のタイヤ周方向の断面図である。切り込み7の深さを深さdとし、帯状吸音材6の厚さを厚さDとする。このとき、切り込み7の深さdは帯状吸音材6の厚さDに対して20%~80%であることが好ましく、更には30%~60%がより好ましい。これにより、接地時に帯状吸音材6の切り込み7が開き、帯状吸音材6からの放熱を促進し、空気入りタイヤの高速耐久性を向上させることが可能となる。また、タイヤの高撓み状態での接地転動に起因する帯状吸音材6の破断を効果的に抑制することが可能となる。ここで、切り込み7の深さdが浅過ぎると帯状吸音材6からの放熱が鈍くなり、タイヤの高速耐久性が悪化する。一方、切り込み7の深さdが深すぎると、低温での転動時に帯状吸音材6が破断し易くなる傾向にある。
上記の空気入りタイヤにおいて、帯状吸音材6の体積はタイヤの内腔体積に対して10%~30%であることが好ましい。また、帯状吸音材6の幅Wsがタイヤ接地幅に対して30%~90%であることがより好ましい。これにより、帯状吸音材6による吸音効果をより一層得ることが可能となる。ここで、帯状吸音材6の体積がタイヤの内腔体積に対して10%を下回ると吸音効果を適切に得ることができない。また、帯状吸音材6の体積がタイヤの内腔体積に対して30%を超えると空洞共鳴現象による騒音の低減効果が一定となり、より一層の低減効果が望めなくなる。
また、図2に示すように、帯状吸音材6はタイヤ周方向の少なくとも1箇所に欠落部9を有することが好ましい。欠落部9とはタイヤ周上で帯状吸音材6が存在しない部分である。帯状吸音材6に欠落部9を設けることにより、タイヤのインフレートによる膨張や接地転動に起因する接着面のせん断ひずみに長時間耐えることができ、帯状吸音材6の接着面に生じるせん断歪みを効果的に緩和することが可能となる。このような欠落部9はタイヤ周上で1箇所又は3~5箇所設けるのが良い。つまり、欠落部9をタイヤ周上の2箇所に設けると質量アンバランスに起因してタイヤユニフォミティの悪化が顕著になり、欠落部9をタイヤ周上の6箇所以上に設けると製造コストの増大が顕著になる。
なお、欠落部9をタイヤ周上の2箇所以上に設ける場合、帯状吸音材6がタイヤ周方向に途切れることになるが、そのような場合であっても、例えば、両面接着テープからなる接着層5のような他の積層物で複数の帯状吸音材6を互いに連結するようにすれば、これら帯状吸音材6を一体的な部材として取り扱うことができるため、タイヤ内面4への貼り付け作業を容易に行うことができる。
切り込み7としては、図1に示す他に図5(a)に示すようにタイヤ幅方向に対して平行に延びる第一切り込み7aとタイヤ周方向に対して平行に延びる第二切り込み7bを配置した場合や、図5(b)に示すようにタイヤ周方向に延びる第一切り込み7aと角度θ2の絶対値を30°とする第二切り込み7bを配置した場合を例示することができる。また、図5(c)及び図5(d)に示すようにタイヤ幅方向に延びる第一切り込み7aと角度θ2の絶対値を60°とする第二切り込み7bを配置した場合を例示することができる。
以下、実施例により本発明を更に説明するが、本発明の範囲はこれらの実施例に限定されるものではない。
タイヤサイズ275/35ZR20で、タイヤ周方向に延在して環状をなすトレッド部と、トレッド部の両側に配置された一対のサイドウォール部と、これらサイドウォール部のタイヤ径方向内側に配置された一対のビード部とを備え、トレッド部の内面にタイヤ周方向に沿って帯状吸音材が接着された空気入りタイヤにおいて、帯状吸音材に、互いに交差した二方向に延びる複数の切り込みを有する実施例1~20のタイヤを製作した。
実施例1~20において、切り込みの有無、第一切り込みのタイヤ幅方向に対する角度θ1、第二切り込みのタイヤ幅方向に対する角度θ2、切り込みの間隔(間隔t/幅Ws×100%)、及び切り込みの深さ(深さd/厚さD×100%)を表1-1及び表1-2のように設定した。
比較のため、帯状吸音材に切り込みを全く設けない従来例のタイヤを用意した。また、切り込みの形状をタイヤ幅方向に延びる矩形溝としたこと以外は実施例1と同じ構造を有する比較例1のタイヤ、及びタイヤ幅方向に延びる複数の切り込みのみを設けたこと以外は実施例1と同じ構造を有する比較例2のタイヤをそれぞれ用意した。更に、タイヤ周方向に延びる複数の切り込みのみを設けたこと以外は実施例1と同じ構造を有する比較例3のタイヤ、及び切り込みをタイヤ幅方向に対して45°の角度で互いに交差するように配置したこと以外は実施例1と同じ構造を有する比較例4のタイヤをそれぞれ用意した。
これら試験タイヤについて、下記試験方法により、高速耐久性、高撓み時の帯状吸音材の耐久性、低温時(-20℃)の帯状吸音材の耐久性、及び帯状吸音材のブロックの倒れこみを評価し、その結果を表1-1及び表1-2に併せて示した。
高速耐久性:
各試験タイヤをそれぞれリムサイズ20×9 1/2Jのホイールに組み付け、空気圧360kPa、荷重5kNの条件でドラム試験機にて走行試験を実施した。具体的には、初期速度250km/hとし、20分毎に10km/hずつ速度を増加させ、タイヤに故障が発生するまで走行させ、その到達ステップ(速度)を測定した。その結果を表1-1及び表1-2に示す。
各試験タイヤをそれぞれリムサイズ20×9 1/2Jのホイールに組み付け、空気圧360kPa、荷重5kNの条件でドラム試験機にて走行試験を実施した。具体的には、初期速度250km/hとし、20分毎に10km/hずつ速度を増加させ、タイヤに故障が発生するまで走行させ、その到達ステップ(速度)を測定した。その結果を表1-1及び表1-2に示す。
高撓み時の帯状吸音材の耐久性:
各試験タイヤをそれぞれリムサイズ20×9 1/2Jのホイールに組み付け、走行速度80km/h、空気圧160kPa、荷重8.5kN、走行距離6,000kmの条件でドラム試験機にて走行試験を実施した後、帯状吸音材の接着面の剥がれ又は帯状吸音材の破断の有無を目視により確認した。その結果を表1-1及び表1-2に示す。上記の項目において、脱落、破断が無い場合を「◎」で示し、接着面の剥がれ又は帯状吸音材の破断が一部あるが問題ない場合を「○」で示し、接着面の剥がれ又は帯状吸音材の破断が帯状吸音材全体の1/4以下の場合を「△」で示し、接着面の剥がれ又は帯状吸音材の破断が帯状吸音材全体の1/4以上の場合を「×」で示した。

これら表1-1及び表1-2から判るように、実施例1~20の空気入りタイヤはいずれも従来例との対比において、高速耐久性、高撓み時の帯状吸音材の耐久性、低温時(-20℃)の帯状吸音材の耐久性、及び帯状吸音材のブロックの倒れこみが同時に改善されていた。
一方、比較例1においては、切り込みの形状をタイヤ幅方向に延びる矩形溝としたため、放熱効果はなく高速耐久性の改善効果は低いものであった。また、比較例2、比較例3においては、タイヤ幅方向又はタイヤ周方向に延びる複数の切り込みのみを設けたため、帯状吸音材の放熱面積の増大効果があまり得られず、高速耐久性の改善効果は低いものであった。更に、比較例4においては、切り込みをタイヤ幅方向に対して45°の角度で互いに交差するように配置したため、帯状吸音材においてブロックの倒れこみが生じ、ブロック同士が互いに擦れ合って帯状吸音材の一部での破断に繋がった。

Claims (5)
- タイヤ周方向に延在して環状をなすトレッド部と、該トレッド部の両側に配置された一対のサイドウォール部と、これらサイドウォール部のタイヤ径方向内側に配置された一対のビード部とを備え、前記トレッド部の内面にタイヤ周方向に沿って帯状吸音材が接着された空気入りタイヤにおいて、
前記帯状吸音材に、互いに交差した二方向に延びる複数の切り込みを有し、かつこれら切り込みのうちいずれか一方向に延びる切り込みがタイヤ幅方向又はタイヤ周方向に対して平行に延びる切り込みであることを特徴とする空気入りタイヤ。 - 前記切り込みの間隔tが前記帯状吸音材の幅Wsに対して5%~90%であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の空気入りタイヤ。
- 前記切り込みの深さdが前記帯状吸音材の厚さDに対して20%~80%であることを特徴とする請求項1~2のいずれかに記載の空気入りタイヤ。
- 前記帯状吸音材の体積が前記タイヤの内腔体積に対して10%~30%であることを特徴とする請求項1~3のいずれかに記載の空気入りタイヤ。
- 前記帯状吸音材がタイヤ周方向の少なくとも一箇所に欠落部を有することを特徴とする請求項1~4のいずれかに記載の空気入りタイヤ。
