Definitions
- the present invention relates to a novel compound for an organic electroluminescent device and an organic electroluminescent device comprising the same, and more particularly to a novel anthracene-based compound that can be used as an electron transporting material of an organic electroluminescent device and a low drive including the same.
- the present invention relates to an organic electroluminescent device having excellent characteristics such as voltage, high luminous efficiency and long life.
- the organic light emitting device has a simple structure and various advantages in manufacturing process, compared to other flat panel display devices such as liquid crystal display (LCD), plasma display panel (PDP), and field emission display (FED), and has high brightness and viewing angle. Due to its excellent characteristics, fast response speed and low driving voltage, development is being actively conducted to be used as a light source for a flat panel display such as a wall-mounted TV or a back light of a display, an illumination, a billboard.
- LCD liquid crystal display
- PDP plasma display panel
- FED field emission display Due to its excellent characteristics, fast response speed and low driving voltage, development is being actively conducted to be used as a light source for a flat panel display such as a wall-mounted TV or a back light of a display, an illumination, a billboard.
- Organic electroluminescent devices generally recombine holes injected from the anode and electrons injected from the cathode when DC voltage is applied to form exciton, an electron-hole pair, and the excitons return to a stable ground state to emit corresponding energy. It is converted to light by transmitting it to the material.
- hole transport materials can be made by introducing trisubstituted amines into aryl compounds (JP 5258562). This is possible because unpaired electron pairs of amines reduce the ionization energy of the compound, thereby lowering the hole injection barrier. It has been reported in the art that introduction of a pyridine group into such an amine compound can be used as an electron transfer material. (10-326668, 10-1511169). However, in the case of the anthracene compound reported in the present invention, it is difficult to explain the electron injection characteristics of the material in relation to the electron injection barrier. This phenomenon can be confirmed from quantum calculation results using Density Functional Theory (DFT).
- DFT Density Functional Theory
- the present invention will be described a phenomenon that can lower the injection barrier of the electron based on the interface dipole phenomenon by the non-covalent electron pair of the pyridine ring.
- the interfacial dipole phenomenon has been reported through a paper describing a phenomenon in which an injection barrier between an anode and an organic thin film can be controlled by introducing a single monolayer having a polarity at an indium tin oxide (ITO) interface. (Thin Solid Films 394 (2001) 292-297).
- KR 10-326668 describes a technique of limiting N to position 2 of pyridine, as described above, if the position of N of pyridine is prepared 3 or 4, the electron injection barrier can be reduced. This phenomenon helps to lower the driving voltage when the present compound is applied to the organic EL device.
- One object of the present invention can be applied to an organic electroluminescent device, and to reduce the driving barrier of electrons to lower the driving voltage, excellent electron injection and transport ability can be used in the electron transfer layer (ETL), etc. It is to provide a compound for an organic electroluminescent device.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide an organic electroluminescent device having the characteristics such as low driving voltage, high luminous efficiency and long life including the compound described above.

Description
(Thin Solid Films 394 (2001) 292-297).
