サンプルを用いて以下の試験条件で摺動回数に対する摩擦係数を測定する。
[試験条件]
自動摩擦測定装置(メーカー:協和界面科学株式会社製、型番:Triboster TS-501)を用い、点接触(3mm鋼球)、重り:15g、速度:1.7mm/sec、距離:20mm、繰り返し回数:100回)の条件で測定する。
前記その他の成分としては、例えば、公知の潤滑剤、極圧剤、防錆剤、溶剤などが挙げられる。
前記潤滑剤は、前記イオン液体を単独で使用してもよいが、従来公知の潤滑剤と組み合わせて用いてもよい。公知の潤滑剤としては、例えば、長鎖カルボン酸、長鎖カルボン酸エステル、パーフルオロアルキルカルボン酸エステル、カルボン酸パーフルオロアルキルエステル、パーフルオロアルキルカルボン酸パーフルオロアルキルエステル、パーフルオロポリエーテル誘導体などが挙げられる。
厳しい条件で潤滑効果を持続させるために、前記磁気記録媒体用潤滑剤は、質量比30:70~70:30程度の配合比で極圧剤を併用してもよい。前記極圧剤は、境界潤滑領域において部分的に金属接触が生じたときに、これに伴う摩擦熱によって金属面と反応し、反応生成物皮膜を形成することにより、摩擦・摩耗防止作用を行うものである。前記極圧剤としては、例えば、リン系極圧剤、イオウ系極圧剤、ハロゲン系極圧剤、有機金属系極圧剤、複合型極圧剤などのいずれも使用できる。
前記防錆剤としては、通常この種の磁気記録媒体の防錆剤として使用可能であるものであればよく、例えば、フェノール類、ナフトール類、キノン類、窒素原子を含む複素環化合物、酸素原子を含む複素環化合物、硫黄原子を含む複素環化合物などが挙げられる。また、前記防錆剤は、潤滑剤として混合して用いてもよいが、非磁性支持体上に磁性層を形成し、その上部に防錆剤層を塗布した後、潤滑剤層を塗布するというように、2層以上に分けて被着してもよい。
前記溶剤としては、例えば、有機溶剤などが挙げられる。前記有機溶剤としては、フッ素系溶剤、アルコール系溶剤などが挙げられる。前記アルコール系溶剤としては、例えば、イソプロピルアルコール(IPA)、エタノールなどが挙げられる。これらは、1種単独で使用してもよいし、2種以上を併用してもよい。
本発明の磁気記録媒体は、非磁性支持体と、磁性層と、本発明の前記磁気記録媒体用潤滑剤とを有し、更に必要に応じて、その他の部材を有する。
前記磁性層は、前記非磁性支持体上に形成されている。即ち、前記磁性層は、前記非磁性支持体上に配されている。
前記磁気記録媒体用潤滑剤は、前記磁性層上に形成されている。即ち、前記磁気記録媒体用潤滑剤は、前記磁性層上に配されている。
前記溶剤としては、フッ素系溶剤が好ましい。前記フッ素系溶剤としては、例えば、ハイドロフルオロエーテル〔例えば、C3F7OCH3、C4F9OCH3、C4F9OC2H5、C2F5CF(OCH3)C3F7、C5H2F10〕などが挙げられる。
前記フッ素系溶剤は、市販品であってもよい。前記市販品としては、例えば、3M社製のNovecTM 7000、7100、7200、7300、71IPA、三井・デュポン フロロケミカル株式会社製のVertrel XF、X-P10などが挙げられる。
<PFTEGアミン・PFTEGスルホン酸塩の合成>
<<工程1-1>>
撹拌子、温度計、及び冷却管を備えたフラスコ中に、ふっ素化トリエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル(PFTEG-OH)(メーカー:FluoroChem)21.9g(40.0mmol)、及び2-クロロエチルトシラート(メーカー:東京化成工業株式会社)18.9g(80.0mmol)を入れ、溶媒としてメタキシレンヘキサフロライド(メーカー:和光純薬工業株式会社)40gを入れ、室温にて撹拌した。撹拌中に炭酸カリウム(メーカー:和光純薬工業株式会社)11.1g(80.3mmol)、及びテトラブチルアンモニウムヒドロキシド40%水溶液(メーカー:東京化成工業株式会社)1.1gを加え、80℃で15時間加熱撹拌を行った。この反応溶液に水とNovec7100(メーカー:住友3M)加え、分液抽出を行い、Novec層をエバポレータにて濃縮し、無色透明液体のクロロエチル化PFTEG溶液 38.3gを得た。
上記反応のスキームを以下に示した。
撹拌子、温度計、及び冷却管を備えたフラスコ中に、工程1-1にて合成したクロロエチル化PFTEG溶液37.3g、フタルイミドカリウム(メーカー:東京化成工業株式会社)28.37g(153mmol)、ヨウ化ナトリウム(メーカー:和光純薬工業株式会社)0.3g、及び18-crown-6エーテル(メーカー:Aldrich)1.68g(6.3mmol)を導入し、溶媒としてDMF(N,N-ジメチルホルムアミド、メーカー:関東化学株式会社)118gを加え、80℃にて13時間撹拌した。この反応溶液をエバポレータにて濃縮した後、水/Novec7100系での分液抽出を行い、有機層を取り出した。さらにこの有機層を0.2M水酸化ナトリウム水溶液にて2回洗浄し、得られた有機層を硫酸マグネシウムにて乾燥した。ろ過にて硫酸マグネシウムを除去した後、エバポレータにて濃縮し、減圧乾燥することでフタルイミド化物を収率90%(工程1-1を含む)で得た。
上記反応のスキームを以下に示した。
H-NMR(重クロロホルム中)の結果、ピーク位置はδ:7.8, 7.7, 3.9-3.7 ppmとフタルイミド中芳香環由来、及び炭化水素鎖由来のピークが確認され、積分比の合致を確認した。
FT-IRからは、1711cm-1、1774cm-1にフタルイミド部位中のカルボニル基由来のピーク発生が確認でき、合成を確認した。
撹拌子、Y字管、温度計、及び冷却管を備えたフラスコ中に工程1-2で合成したフタルイミド化物24.5g(34mmol)、抱水ヒドラジン(メーカー:和光純薬工業株式会社)54g(1.08mol)、及びエタノール110mlを加えた。その後14時間リフラックス(70℃以上)しながら撹拌を行った。得られた液体にNovec7100を加え、1mol/L水酸化ナトリウム水溶液で3回分液洗浄した。得られたNovec層を硫酸ナトリウムにて脱水後、ろ過して目的物溶液を得た。得られた溶液を孔径0.2μmのPP(ポリプロピレン)製メンブレンフィルターにてろ過した後、濃縮することでアミノ化物(PFTEGアミン)を23.4g得た。
上記反応のスキームを以下に示した。
FT-IRからは、1711cm-1、1774cm-1に存在したフタルイミド部位中のカルボニル基由来のピークが完全に消失し、3600-3100cm-1付近にアミンのNH由来のピーク発生が確認できたため、合成を確認した。
撹拌子、温度計、還流冷却機、及び滴下漏斗を備えた3つ口フラスコ中に、ターシャリーブタノール(メーカー:関東化学株式会社)90g、及びカリウムターシャリーブトキシド(メーカー:東京化成工業株式会社)7.42g(66.3mmol)を導入し、常温で撹拌しながらPFTEG-OH 29.9g(55mmol)を滴下ロートから徐々に滴下し、滴下後も常温で撹拌した。滴下から1時間後、1,3-プロパンスルトン(メーカー:東京化成工業株式会社)8.08g(66.2mmol)、及びターシャリーブタノール10gを徐々に滴下し、滴下後液温を65℃で維持しながら4時間撹拌した。得られた反応溶液を濃縮し、収率98%でPFTEGスルホン酸の粗生成物を得た。
上記反応のスキームを以下に示した。
撹拌子を備えたフラスコ中に工程2-1で得られたPFTEGスルホン酸の粗生成物7gを水60gに溶解し、そこに濃塩酸40g、及びNovec7200(メーカー:住友3M)100gを加え、Novec層を取り出した。Novec層をエバポレータにて濃縮することでPFTEGスルホン酸を収率64%で得た。
上記反応のスキームを以下に示した。
撹拌子、及び冷却管を備えたフラスコ中に工程1-3と同様の手法で合成したPFTEGアミン約69%溶液10.552g(12.3mmol)、工程2-2同様に合成したPFTEGスルホン酸8.936g(13.33mmol)、溶媒としてNovec7100 50gを導入し、常温にて3時間撹拌した。得られた溶液をエバポレータにて濃縮後、各種溶媒(水・エーテル・アセトン・ヘキサン)にてデカンテーション精製を行った。洗浄完了は、洗浄液、及び目的物の溶液をpH試験紙に少量付け、pH=7が確認できた段階とした。洗浄後の目的物を減圧乾燥し、収率44%で淡黄色のPFTEGアミン・PFTEGスルホン酸塩(下記構造式)を得た。
<1H,1H,2H,2H-パーフルオロデシルアミン・PFTEGスルホン酸塩の合成>
ナス型フラスコに、実施例1の工程2-2と同様に合成したPFTEGスルホン酸4.36g(6.5mmol)、1H,1H,2H,2H-パーフルオロデシルアミン(メーカー:Apollo Scientific)3.61g(7.8mmol)、及びNovec7200 50gを加えた後に、撹拌子、及び冷却管を備え、常温下2時間撹拌を行った。その後、エバポレータにて濃縮し、エーテル及びヘキサンによりデカンテーション精製を行った。洗浄により析出した固体をろ別し、減圧乾燥することによって、淡黄色の1H,1H,2H,2H-パーフルオロデシルアミン・PFTEGスルホン酸塩(下記構造式)7.06gを収率96%で得た。
<PFTEGアミン・パーフルオロブタンスルホン酸塩の合成>
冷却管を備えたフラスコ中に、実施例1の工程1-3と同様に合成したPFTEGアミン約69%溶液6.68g(7.80mmol)、及びパーフルオロブタンスルホン酸(メーカー:東京化成工業株式会社)2.39g(7.97mmol)を導入し、溶媒としてNovec7100を15g加え、常温で2時間撹拌した。その後、エバポレータにて濃縮し、エーテル:ヘキサン〔1:1(質量比)〕混合溶液、及び水にてデカンテーション精製を行った。洗浄後、pH試験紙にて、洗液及び目的物溶液がpH=7を示すことを確認できたので、目的物溶液を減圧乾燥し、淡黄色のPFTEGアミン・パーフルオロブタンスルホン酸塩(下記構造式)を収率68%で得た。
<1H,1H,2H,2H-パーフルオロデシルアミン・パーフルオロ-3,6,9-トリオキサトリデカン酸塩の合成>
冷却管を備えたフラスコ中に、1H,1H,2H,2H-パーフルオロデシルアミン(メーカー:Apollo Scientific)6.94g(15mmol)、及びパーフルオロ-3,6,9-トリオキサトリデカン酸(メーカー:Synquest)5.64g(7.97mmol)を導入し、溶媒としてNovec 7100を15g加え、常温で2時間撹拌した。その後、エバポレータにて濃縮し、エーテル:ヘキサン〔1:1(質量比)〕混合溶液、及びヘキサンにてデカンテーション精製を行った。洗浄後、pH試験紙にて、洗液及び目的物溶液がpH=7を示すことを確認できたので、目的物溶液を減圧乾燥し、褐色の1H,1H,2H,2H-パーフルオロデシルアミン・パーフルオロ-3,6,9-トリオキサトリデカン酸塩(下記構造式)を収率99%で得た。
<PFTEGアミン・ビス(パーフルオロブタンスルホニル)イミド酸塩の合成>
冷却管を備えたフラスコ中に、実施例1の工程1-3と同様に合成したPFTEGアミン約69%溶液6.68g(7.80mmol)、及びビス(パーフルオロブタンスルホニル)イミド(メーカー:和光純薬工業株式会社)4.63g(7.97mmol)を導入し、溶媒としてNovec7100を100g加え、常温で2時間撹拌した。その後、エバポレータにて濃縮し、エーテル:ヘキサン〔1:1(質量比)〕混合溶液、及び水にてデカンテーション精製を行った。洗浄後、pH試験紙にて、洗液及び目的物溶液がpH=7を示すことを確認できたので、目的物溶液を減圧乾燥し、淡黄色のPFTEGアミン・ビス(パーフルオロブタンスルホニル)イミド塩(下記構造式)を収率85%で得た。
<オクチルアミン・PFTEGスルホン酸塩の合成>
冷却管を備えたフラスコ中に、実施例1の工程2-2と同様に合成したPFTEGスルホン酸3.35g(5.00mmol)、及びオクチルアミン(メーカー:和光純薬工業株式会社)0.67g(5.15mmol)を導入し、Novec7200を35g加え、常温で2時間撹拌した。その後、エバポレータにて濃縮し、ヘキサンにてデカンテーション精製を行った。洗浄後、pH試験紙にて、洗液及び目的物溶液がpH=7を示すことを確認できたので、目的物溶液を減圧乾燥し、白色のPFTEGアミン・パーフルオロブタンスルホン酸塩(下記構造式)を収率58%で得た。
<1H,1H,2H,2H-パーフルオロデシルアミン・パーフルオロブタンスルホン酸塩の合成>
冷却管を備えたフラスコ中に、1H,1H,2H,2H-パーフルオロデシルアミン(メーカー:Apollo Scientific)6.94g(15mmol)、及びパーフルオロブタンスルホン酸(メーカー:東京化成工業株式会社)3.6g(12mmol)を導入し、溶媒として、ヘキサン:エタノール:Novec7200〔1:1:1(質量比)〕の混合溶媒を200g加え、常温で4時間撹拌した。その後、エバポレータにて濃縮し、ヘキサン:エタノール〔10:1(質量比)〕の混合溶液、及びヘキサンにてデカンテーション精製を3回行った。その後、目的物溶液を減圧乾燥し、褐色の1H,1H,2H,2H-パーフルオロデシルアミン・パーフルオロブタンスルホン酸塩(下記構造式)を収率83%で得た。
<オクタデシルアミン・パーフルオロヘプタン酸塩の合成>
冷却管を備えたフラスコ中に、オクタデシルアミン(メーカー:和光純薬工業株式会社)4.8.g(18mmol)、及びパーフルオロヘプタン酸(メーカー:東京化成工業株式会社)5.5g(15mmol)を導入し、溶媒として、ヘキサン:エタノール〔1:1(質量比)〕の混合溶媒を200g加え、常温で4時間撹拌した。その後、エバポレータにて濃縮し、ヘキサン:エタノール〔8:2(質量比)〕の混合溶液にて再結晶を行った。その後、吸引ろ過および減圧乾燥し、白色のオクタデシルアミン・パーフルオロブタンスルホン酸塩(下記構造式)を収率75%で得た。
実施例1~5、及び比較例1~3で得られたイオン液体を用いて以下の評価を行った。結果を表1-1、及び表1-2に示した。
TG-DTA(メーカー名:セイコーインスツル株式会社、型番:EXSTAR6000)により、温度に対する重量減少を測定し、5%重量減少温度を熱分解温度と定義した。測定条件は、昇温速度を10℃/min、Air流量を200mL/minとした。
濃度が1質量%となるように各種フッ素系溶剤に添加し、25℃に保持して撹拌した。溶解性を、以下の評価基準で評価した。
〔評価基準〕
○:フッ素系溶剤に溶解し、放置しても沈殿の発生がない
×:フッ素系溶剤に不溶である、又は一時的に溶解しても放置すると沈殿が発生する
-潤滑剤塗布ハードディスクの作製-
図1に示すような断面構造の磁気ディスクを作製した。ディップコーティングに用いる潤滑剤溶液は、表1-1及び表1-2に示す溶剤を用いて、それぞれの潤滑剤を溶解させて調製した。なお、潤滑剤溶液に濁りがある場合は、シリンジフィルター(0.2μm)を使用し濾過した。
ディップコーティングは、潤滑剤溶液を入れたガラス容器から磁気ディスクを速度50mm/minにて引き上げて行った。
それぞれの潤滑剤に対してディップ濃度条件を系統的に変えて、膜厚のディップ濃度の依存性を調べた。膜厚はエリプソメトリー(型番:M-2000、メーカー:ジェーエーウーラム)により測定した。それぞれの潤滑剤に対してディップ濃度を調整し形成された潤滑剤層の平均厚みが10Åになるようにした。
作製したサンプルを用いて、以下の試験条件で摺動回数に対する摩擦係数を測定することで、摩擦特性を評価した。
[試験条件]
自動摩擦測定装置(メーカー:協和界面科学株式会社製、型番:Triboster TS-501)を用い、点接触(3mm鋼球)、重り:15g、速度:1.7mm/sec、距離:20mm、繰り返し回数:100回)の条件で測定した。
上記評価結果を、以下にランク分けし、更に、以下の評価基準で、総合評価を行った。
〔ランク分け1:熱分解温度〕
◎:300℃以上
○:150℃以上300℃未満
×:150℃未満
〔ランク分け2:摩擦特性〕
◎:摺動回数100回における摩擦係数が0.20未満
○:摺動回数100回における摩擦係数が0.20以上0.30以下
×:摺動回数100回における摩擦係数が0.30超
〔評価基準〕
◎:ランク分け1及び2において◎が2つ、かつフッ素系溶剤溶解性がすべての溶剤で○
○:ランク分け1及び2において◎が1つかつ○が1つ、若しくは○が2つ、更にフッ素系溶剤溶解性がすべての溶剤で○
×:ランク分け1及び2において×が1つ若しくは2つ、及び/又はフッ素溶剤溶解性が少なくとも1つの溶剤で×

比較例1~3の潤滑剤は、フッ素系溶剤に溶解しないため、溶剤として、エタノール/ヘキサン混合溶剤(Ethanol/Hexane=3/7(質量比))を用いた。
一方、比較例1~4は、摺動回数が50回以上で摩擦係数が0.30を超えていた。
実施例3は、熱安定性、及び摩擦係数の両方の点でより優れていた。

Claims (5)
- ブレンステッド酸と、1級アミンであるブレンステッド塩基とが構成成分であるイオン液体を含有し、
前記ブレンステッド酸が、含フッ素鎖を有し、
前記ブレンステッド塩基が、パーフルオロアルキル鎖及びパーフルオロポリエーテル鎖のいずれかである含フッ素鎖を有し、
前記ブレンステッド酸における前記含フッ素鎖が、パーフルオロポリエーテル鎖であること、及び前記ブレンステッド塩基における前記含フッ素鎖が、前記パーフルオロポリエーテル鎖であること、の少なくともいずれかを満たし、
前記ブレンステッド酸における前記含フッ素鎖の数平均分子量が、1,500以下であることを特徴とする磁気記録媒体用潤滑剤。 - 前記ブレンステッド酸における前記含フッ素鎖の数平均分子量が、500以下である請求項1に記載の磁気記録媒体用潤滑剤。
- 前記ブレンステッド酸が、前記含フッ素鎖を有するスルホン酸、及び前記含フッ素鎖を有するスルホニルイミドのいずれかであり、
前記ブレンステッド塩基が、前記パーフルオロポリエーテル鎖を有する1級アミンである請求項1から2のいずれかに記載の磁気記録媒体用潤滑剤。 - 動摩擦係数が、0.30以下である請求項1から3のいずれかに記載の磁気記録媒体用潤滑剤。
- 非磁性支持体と、前記非磁性支持体上に磁性層と、前記磁性層上に請求項1から4のいずれかに記載の磁気記録媒体用潤滑剤とを有することを特徴とする磁気記録媒体。
