L'invention concerne un fil de coupe pour matériau de pierre, qui comprend : un câble (4) de support métallique annulaire ; une pluralité d'éléments d'articulation métallique tubulaires (60 ; 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66) englobant chacun une discontinuité (500 ; 510, 520, 530, 540, 550, 560) entre les brins du câble (4) de manière à assurer la jonction mécanique locale ; une pluralité de perles diamantées (5) disposées le long du câble (4) métallique ; au moins une couche de protection externe (10) constituée d'un matériau polymérique thermoplastique qui recouvre au moins partiellement le câble (4) métallique.
