Specifically, when the difference between the weighted average emission wavelengths of the two light emitting units 4 is less than 20 nm, these light emitting units 4 become the similar color light emitting units 4S.

- the different color light emitting unit 4D has a light emitting layer 3 of a single layer.
- the plurality of light emitting layers 3 preferably include a red light emitting layer 3R, a green light emitting layer 3G, and a blue light emitting layer 3B.
- a red light emitting layer 3R is a light emitting layer 3 containing a red light emitting material.
- the green light emitting layer 3G is a light emitting layer 3 containing a green light emitting material.
- the blue light emitting layer 3B is a light emitting layer 3 containing a blue light emitting material.
- the blue light emitting material refers to a light emitting material exhibiting a spectrum with the largest intensity in a wavelength range of 420 nm or more and less than 500 nm.
- the green light emitting material refers to a light emitting material exhibiting a spectrum with the largest intensity in a wavelength range of 500 nm or more and less than 590 nm.
- the red light emitting material refers to a light emitting material exhibiting a spectrum with the largest intensity in a wavelength range of 590 nm or more and less than 700 nm.
- light emitting materials other than red, green and blue, such as orange, may also exist strictly, but even in this case, in the present specification, the light emitting colors are classified into three colors and As long as it is in the definition of a color, it is considered to exhibit that color.

- luminance lifetime of light emission unit 4S The horizontal axis represents elapsed time, and the vertical axis represents relative luminance (corresponding to L / L 0 when the initial luminance is L 0 and the luminance is L).
- red light emitting layer / green light emitting layer indicates a luminance deterioration curve when the red light emitting layer 3R is disposed on the light extraction side and the green light emitting layer 3G is disposed on the opposite side.
- green light emitting layer / red light emitting layer shows a luminance deterioration curve when the green light emitting layer 3G is disposed on the light extraction side and the red light emitting layer 3R is disposed on the opposite side.
- a constant current drive test was conducted so that the initial luminance was the same in each of “red light emitting layer / green light emitting layer” and “green light emitting layer / red light emitting layer”. As apparent from FIG.
- the "red light emitting layer / green light emitting layer” has a longer luminance life
- the "green light emitting layer / red light emitting layer” has a shorter luminance life.
- the luminance lifetimes thereof can be easily made different by making the laminated structure different.
- the luminance lifetimes of the two similar color light emitting units 4S can be made different by changing the composition such as the type of the light emitting material and the doping concentration.
- At least one of the light emitting materials contained in the light emitting layer 3 of the two similar color light emitting units 4S may be the same. As described above, even if some of the plurality of light emitting materials are the same, if the remaining light emitting materials are different, the luminance lifespans of the two similar color light emitting units 4S can be easily made different. Further, even if all the light emitting materials among the plurality of light emitting materials are the same, the luminance lifetimes of the two similar color light emitting units 4S can be easily made different if the laminated structure is different as described above.
- At least one of the light emitting materials contained in the light emitting layer 3 of the two similar color light emitting units 4S may be different.
- the luminance lifetimes of the two similar color light emitting units 4S can be easily made different if some of the light emitting materials are different.
- the luminance lifetimes of the two similar color light emitting units 4S can be easily made different.
- each homogeneous light emitting unit 4S includes a red light emitting layer 3R containing a red light emitting material and a green light emitting layer 3G containing a green light emitting material.
- the red light emitting material and the green light emitting material are phosphorescence emitting materials, the light emission efficiency of the organic EL element can be improved.
- the different color light emitting unit 4D preferably includes the light emitting layer 3 containing a blue light emitting material.
- the organic EL element can be provided with the red, green and blue (RGB) three color light emitting layers 3; Various colors can be produced.
- the different color light emitting unit 4D includes the light emitting layer 3 containing a fluorescent light emitting material.
- the two similar color light emitting units 4S include the light emitting layer 3 containing a phosphorus light emitting material, the luminance life of the different color light emitting unit 4D can be easily shortened than the luminance life of the two similar color light emitting units 4S.
- many fluorescent light emitting materials generally have high practicability having both a desired light emission spectrum and a lifetime, so that white light emission having a good light emission color can be realized in the organic EL element.
- the red light emitting layer 3R is divided into two similar color light emitting units 4S and arranged. Therefore, the thickness of the red light emitting layer 3R can be reduced in each of the similar color light emitting units 4S.
- a structure in which two or more light emitting layers 3 are directly laminated may be formed. In that case, when the light emitting layer 3 of the short wavelength light emitting material and the light emitting layer 3 of the long wavelength light emitting material are adjacent to each other, the energy of the short wavelength layer is absorbed by the long wavelength layer and the short wavelength light emission is relative In addition, the phenomenon that excessive long wavelength light emission becomes too strong (excessive light emission) may occur.
- the height of the light emitting material is relative.
- the red light emitting material that emits light of longer wavelength.
- the blue light emitting material that emits light of shorter wavelength. Therefore, simply laminating the light emitting layers 3 of three colors may cause the red color to be too strong and the blue and green colors to be weak. Therefore, the red light emitting layer 3R is divided into two similar color light emitting units 4S. Then, the red color desired to be obtained as a whole can be formed by combining the plurality of red light emitting layers 3R, and the thickness of each red light emitting layer 3R can be reduced.
- the thickness of the red light emitting layer 3R thinner than that of the green light emitting layer 3G, it is possible to suppress the phenomenon that the energy of the green layer is absorbed by the red layer. Therefore, while being able to perform color adjustment easily, luminous efficiency can be improved. Moreover, since energy absorption of the light emitting layer 3 for short wavelength light emission is suppressed, driving at a lower voltage becomes possible.
- the red light emitting layer 3R when the red light emitting layer 3R is dispersed in the two similar color light emitting units 4S, it is possible to suppress the temporal change in color of each light emitting unit 4, that is, so-called color shift. As described above, the red light emitting layer 3R can absorb the energy of the other light emitting layer 3. Then, if the thickness of the red light emitting layer 3R is large, the balance of light emission is easily broken, and the difference in degree of color shift between the light emitting units 4 may be large, and the color shift as a whole may be large.
- two of the three light emitting units 4 include the red light emitting layer 3R, but all three light emitting units 4 may include the red light emitting layer 3R. .
- only one light emitting unit 4 of the three light emitting units 4 includes the blue light emitting layer 3B.
- the different color light emitting unit 4D has the blue light emitting layer 3B, and the two similar color light emitting units 4S do not have the blue light emitting layer 3B.
- the light emission of the blue light emitting material may require higher energy than other light emitting colors. In this case, it may be said that the blue light emitting layer 3B has a resistance value higher than that of the light emitting layer 3 of another color.
- the blue light emitting layer 3B When the blue light emitting layer 3B is disposed in the plurality of light emitting units 4, the blue light emitting material is caused to emit light for each light emitting unit 4, so that the resistance may be increased and the driving voltage may be increased. Therefore, by forming the blue light emitting layer 3B in only one light emitting unit 4, it is possible to suppress that the number of the blue light emitting layers 3B decreases and the driving voltage becomes high.
- the light emitting layer 3 may be composed of a light emitting dopant (light emitting material) and a host serving as a medium for receiving the light emitting dopant.
- the light emitting dopant is constituted of a light emitting material of phosphorescence and a light emitting material of fluorescence (fluorescence).
- the blue light emitting material is preferably a phosphorescent light emitting material. Thereby, low voltage drive is possible.
- the red light emitting material is preferably a phosphorescent light emitting material.
- the green light emitting material is preferably a phosphorescent light emitting material. Generally, fluorescent light emitting materials require more energy to emit light than phosphorescent light emitting materials.
- a phosphorescent light emitting material By using a phosphorescent light-emitting material, it is possible to enhance the light extraction efficiency and to easily reduce the voltage. More preferably, all of the light emitting materials contained in the plurality of light emitting layers 3 are phosphorescent light emitting materials. It is a so-called all-phosphorescent organic EL element. Thus, a low voltage driven organic EL element can be configured.
- the light emitting material dopant
- a dopant other than those classified into so-called phosphorescence and fluorescence may be used. For example, in recent years, a light emitting material that emits light by transitioning from the energy level of phosphorescence to the energy level of phosphorescence has been developed, but such a light emitting material may be used.
- the blue light emitting material it is preferable to use a light emitting material that exhibits a spectrum with the largest intensity in a wavelength range of 460 nm or more and less than 500 nm. This makes it easy to obtain highly efficient white light emission.
- the color produced by the mixing of the three red, green and blue colors can be charted, for example, by the chromaticity coordinates.
- the color chart is a chromaticity diagram represented by color coordinates u'v '. If multiple colors are used, the colors may be defined as points derived by the wavelength and intensity of each color. When this point enters the white area of the chromaticity diagram, it is possible to emit white light.
- the position of the blue wavelength is more important than the position of the red-green wavelength in order to enter the white region. Therefore, when a blue light emitting material having a wavelength of 460 nm or more is used, higher luminance can be obtained with respect to the same emission energy, and thus white light emission with higher efficiency can be easily obtained.
- a blue light emitting material that exhibits the highest intensity spectrum in the wavelength range of 400 nm to less than 460 nm, it is possible to create white by adjusting the red-green color or adjusting the blue emission spectrum. Blue light emitting material may be used.
- a blue light-emitting material less than 460 nm it is easy to obtain the effect of spreading the white color temperature range to be produced, and it is possible to increase the freedom of white light emission.
- the luminescent color produced by the mixture of three colors of red, green and blue depends on the integral value of the emission spectrum of each luminescent material. With the integration value of the emission spectrum being in the desired ratio, whitening of the emission color is easily performed.
- the ratio of the integral of the red emission spectrum: the integral of the green emission spectrum: the integral of the blue emission spectrum is preferably about 2: 1: 1. Thereby, white light emission can be realized more easily.
- the ratio of the integral value can be more easily achieved.
- the blue light emission intensity may be less than 25% with respect to the entire (100%) in order to obtain white light emission.
- the fact that the ratio of the integral value of the red light emission spectrum is high means that the total thickness of the red light emitting layer 3R is required to be relatively thicker than that of the other light emitting layers 3.
- the thickness of the red light emitting layer 3R is thick, energy absorption is likely to occur. Therefore, in order to make the light emission color white, it is preferable to divide the red light emitting layer 3R and arrange it in the plurality of light emitting units 4.
- the integral value of the emission spectrum of each color may be considered to be approximately equal to the emission intensity of each color.
- a thin light emitting layer 3 and a thick light emitting layer 3 may be formed.
- the thickness of the thin layer can be 4/5 or less of the thickness of the thick layer.
- the thickness of the thin layer can be 3/4 or less of the thickness of the thick layer.
- the thickness of the thin layer can be 2/3 or less of the thickness of the thick layer. More preferably, the thickness of the thin layer can be 1/2 or less of the thickness of the thick layer.
- the thickness of the red light emitting layer 3R can be 10 nm or less, and the thickness of the green light emitting layer 3G can be 20 nm or more.
- the thickness of the thin layer can be 1 ⁇ 4 or more of the thickness of the thick layer. More preferably, the thickness of the thin layer can be 1/3 or more of the thickness of the thick layer. Further, in order to make it easy to obtain light emission, the thickness of the thin layer may, of course, be 1/2 or more or 2/3 or more of the thickness of the thick layer.
- each light emitting layer 3 is preferably 1 nm or more, preferably 5 nm or more, and more preferably 7 nm or more in order to obtain desired light emission.
- the thickness of each light emitting layer 3 is preferably 100 nm or less, preferably 50 nm or less, and more preferably 40 nm or less, from the viewpoint of light emission efficiency and the like.
- the thickness of one blue light emitting layer 3B is preferably 20 nm or more. Accordingly, it is possible to easily obtain an element which is excellent in light extraction property, can be driven at low voltage, and has suppressed color shift.
- the thickness of one red light emitting layer 3R is preferably 20 nm or less, and more preferably 10 nm or less.
- the organic EL element shown in FIG. 1 although a plurality of red light emitting layers 3R are provided, these red light emitting layers 3R are separated and arranged in different light emitting units 4, and thus the intensity of red is a total. Therefore, even if the thickness of the red light emitting layer 3R is reduced, it is possible to obtain a desired light emission color (in particular, white).
- the relationship of the thickness of such a light emitting layer 3 may be a relationship in one light emitting unit 4.
- the thickness of the red light emitting layer 3R in one light emitting unit 4 may be thicker than the thickness of the blue light emitting layer 3B or the green light emitting layer 3G in the other light emitting unit 4. This is because energy absorption occurs strongly between adjacent light emitting layers 3.
- the influence of optical interference is different depending on the position and thickness of the light emitting layer 3, so the thickness of the light emitting layer 3 may be designed for each light emitting unit 4.
- two light emitting units 4 of the three light emitting units 4 are the similar color light emitting units 4S.
- the same light emitting material may be used when forming the light emitting layers 3 of the two similar color light emitting units 4S.
- the number of materials can be reduced, and the lamination process can be simplified, so that it can be manufactured cheaper and easier.
- the red light emitting material since the plurality of red light emitting layers 3R are disposed separately in the plurality of light emitting units 4, the red light emitting material may be the same material.
- the green light emitting materials may be the same material.
- a part of the colors may be the same material.
- the light emitting layer 3 of the same color may be the same light emitting material in all the light emitting layers 3 of the same color.
- the light emitting material (dopant) but also the host may be the same.
- red, green and blue light emitting layers 3 are provided in two similar color light emitting units 4 S, and red light emitting layer 3 R and green light emitting layer 3 G in both light emitting units 4 are provided.
- Each may be formed of the same material.
- the lamination lifetime of the two similar color light emitting units 4S is made different by, for example, making the laminated structure of the light emitting layer 3 different.
- the thicknesses of the light emitting layers 3 of the same color may be the same or different. In general, the influence of optical interference is different depending on the position and thickness of the light emitting layer 3, so the thickness of the light emitting layer 3 may be designed for each light emitting unit 4.
- an appropriate layer which makes the organic EL element drivable can be formed.
- the charge transport layer 6 is illustrated.
- the charge transport layer 6 may be a layer that injects or transports holes or electrons.
- the charge transport layer 6 is mainly composed of the electron transport layer 6A and the hole transport layer 6B.
- the hole transport layer 6 B is disposed on the anode side (the light transmissive electrode 1 side in this example) of the light emitting layer 3, and the cathode side (the light reflective electrode 2 in the present example)
- the electron transport layer 6A is disposed on the side).
- the charge transport layer 6 may also include appropriate layers such as a hole injection layer or an electron injection layer.
- the hole injection layer can be formed on the anode side of the hole transport layer 6B.
- the electron injection layer can be formed on the cathode side of the electron transport layer 6A.
- the light transmitting electrode 1 and the light reflecting electrode 2 are a pair of electrodes. Among these electrodes, one constitutes an anode and the other constitutes a cathode. Thereby, the organic EL element can be driven.
- the light transmitting electrode 1 can constitute an anode

- a light extraction layer may be provided between the substrate 7 and the light transmitting electrode 1.
- the light extraction layer is a layer having a function of suppressing total reflection on the substrate 7 and extracting more light to the outside.
- the light extraction layer may have a structure that reduces the difference in refractive index between the substrate 7 and the organic EL layer. By reducing the refractive index difference, total reflection can be suppressed and light can be extracted.
- the light extraction layer may be a light scattering structure. By scattering the light, it is possible to change the direction of the light to suppress total reflection and take out the light.
- the light extraction layer can be formed, for example, by a laminated structure of a low refractive index layer and a high refractive index layer.

- the horizontal axis represents elapsed time
- the vertical axis represents color shift (.DELTA.u'v ').
- the color shift is a color shift from the reference white of the display color when the light emitting surface is observed from the direction of 60 ° with respect to the normal to the light emitting surface of the element.
- the luminance life of the whole 3 unit multi element is shorter than the luminance life of the whole 2 unit multi element by the addition of the short life phosphorescence unit.
