Description
光透過性電極と、光反射性電極と、前記光透過性電極と前記光反射性電極との間に設けられた三つのみからなる発光ユニットと、隣り合う前記発光ユニットの間に設けられた中間層と、を備えたマルチユニット構造の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子であって、
前記三つのみからなる発光ユニットは、厚み方向に重なり、
前記中間層は、隣接する前記各発光ユニットに電荷を注入する機能を有し、
前記三つのみからなる発光ユニットのうちの二つの発光ユニットは、同系色に発光し、かつ相互に輝度寿命の異なる同系色発光ユニットであり、
前記三つのみからなる発光ユニットのうちの残りの一つの発光ユニットは、前記同系色とは異なる色に発光し、かつ輝度寿命が前記二つの同系色発光ユニットのいずれの輝度寿命よりも短い異色発光ユニットであることを特徴とする。
前記異色発光ユニットは、青色発光材料を含有する発光層を含むことが好ましい。
前記異色発光ユニットは、蛍光発光材料を含有する発光層を含むことが好ましい。
前記二つの同系色発光ユニットは、積層構造又は組成の異なる発光層を含むことが好ましい。
前記二つの同系色発光ユニットは、リン光発光材料を含有する発光層を含むことが好ましい。
前記二つの同系色発光ユニットは、赤色発光材料及び緑色発光材料の両方を含有する発光層を含むことが好ましい。
前記二つの同系色発光ユニットの発光層に含有される発光材料のうちの少なくとも一つの発光材料が同じであることが好ましい。
前記二つの同系色発光ユニットの発光層に含有される発光材料のうちの少なくとも一つの発光材料が異なっていることが好ましい。

Claims (8)
- 光透過性電極と、光反射性電極と、前記光透過性電極と前記光反射性電極との間に設けられた三つのみからなる発光ユニットと、隣り合う前記発光ユニットの間に設けられた中間層と、を備えたマルチユニット構造の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子であって、
前記三つのみからなる発光ユニットは、厚み方向に重なり、
前記中間層は、隣接する前記各発光ユニットに電荷を注入する機能を有し、
前記三つのみからなる発光ユニットのうちの二つの発光ユニットは、同系色に発光し、かつ相互に輝度寿命の異なる同系色発光ユニットであり、
前記三つのみからなる発光ユニットのうちの残りの一つの発光ユニットは、前記同系色とは異なる色に発光し、かつ輝度寿命が前記二つの同系色発光ユニットのいずれの輝度寿命よりも短い異色発光ユニットであることを特徴とする

請求項1乃至4のいずれか一項に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。 - 前記二つの同系色発光ユニットは、赤色発光材料及び緑色発光材料の両方を含有する発光層を含むことを特徴とする
請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項に記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。 - 前記二つの同系色発光ユニットの発光層に含有される発光材料のうちの少なくとも一つの発光材料が同じであることを特徴とする
