Definitions
- the present invention relates to a gas generator used for a person restraining device of an air bag system of a vehicle.
- a gas generator using a pressurized gas pressurized medium
- the opening of a bottle that encloses the pressurized gas is closed with a closing member, and the closed member is cleaved during operation to release the pressurized gas.
- the discharge structure is common.
- the closing member needs to be surely cleaved when the shock wave or pressure is generated, and when it is cleaved by the shock wave or pressure generated by the operation of the ignition means using explosives or the like, it is preferable that the clogging member is cleaved with a load.
- U.S. Patent Publication No. 2003/0146612 shows a state in which a closure member 50 that is cleaved by a gas pressure is attached to an opening end of a cylindrical casing 40.
- the closure member 50 is formed with various shapes of grooves 52a to 52e as shown in FIGS.
- the piston is A substrate portion including a pressure receiving surface that receives combustion products from the ignition means, and a rod portion that extends in an axial direction from one surface of the substrate portion, The rod portion is disposed so as to contact or face the blocking member,
- the closing member has a fragile part on either side, A first intermediate point on Y2 from a starting point A on Y1 when the fragile portion draws two orthogonal straight lines Y1 and Y2 passing through the intersection X2 on one surface of the closing member B, a groove formed of a curve extending through the second intermediate point C on Y1, the third intermediate point D on Y2 to the end point E, The groove is such that the distance from the intersection X2 to each point is the start point A ⁇ the first intermediate point B ⁇ the second intermediate
- the closing member is torn along a groove from the vicinity of the start point A to the end point E of the fragile portion.
- a gas generator is provided in which the rod portion does not contact the starting point A and pushes the closing member at a position close to the groove between the starting point A and the first intermediate point B.
- FIG. 1 is an axial sectional view of a gas generator of the present invention.
- FIG. 2 is a plan view for explaining the weakened portion formed in the closing member. However, the solid line shows the portion that the rod tip presses during operation.
- FIG. 3 is a diagram showing the positions of different end points E (E1 to E3) of the grooves forming the weakened portion.
- FIG. 4 is a partial plan view for explaining the means for preventing breakage of the fragile portion formed in the closing member.
- FIG. 5 is a perspective view for explaining the operation of the gas generator of the present invention (the cleaved state of the closing member).
- FIG. 6 is a plan view for explaining a fragile portion formed in a closing member according to another embodiment. However, the solid line shows the portion that the rod tip presses during operation.
- FIGS. 2 (a) and 2 (d) of US Patent Publication No. 2003/0146612 are considered to be opened outwardly from a central portion due to the shape of a groove.
- c) and (e) are considered to be formed by the central portion being dropped into a circular shape and opening from the shape and formation state of the groove, and in FIG. 2 (b), equidistant from the center (base point). Since the groove is formed in a spiral shape, it is considered that the central portion is integrated and dropped into a circular shape and opened.
- the present invention provides a gas generator capable of reliably cleaving and opening a closing member with a small load when applied to a gas generator of a personnel restraint device such as an air bag system of a vehicle.
- the gas generator of the present invention may be a hybrid type gas generator that inflates an airbag using both the pressurized gas and the combustion gas generated by the combustion of the gas generating agent.
- a stored-type gas generator that deploys an air bag only with pressurized gas without using it may be used.
- the cylindrical housing may be composed of one housing as a whole, or may be composed of a pressurized gas chamber housing that forms a pressurized gas chamber and an ignition means chamber housing that forms an ignition means chamber.
- the closing member exists between the pressurized gas chamber and the ignition means chamber, and may be fixed to the housing or may be integrally formed.
- the housing is composed of a pressurized gas chamber housing and an ignition means chamber housing, it may be fixed to any one of the housings or may be integrally formed with any one of the housings. .
- the axis X1 of the cylindrical housing passes through the center of the circular closing member, and therefore the center of the circular closing member is preferably set to X1.
- the intersection X2 of the closing member may or may not coincide with the center X1 of the circular closing member.
- the weak part is formed in the surface which faces a piston among the obstruction
- the groove of the closing member is formed by connecting each point from the start point A to the end point E with a curve.
- the curve connects the points, but is not a curve having a bent portion such as a wavy line, but is a curve that forms a vortex of one turn as a whole that passes through the points.
- the groove serving as the fragile portion may have a cross-sectional shape in the width direction such as a V shape, a rectangular shape, or a trapezoidal shape.
- the groove serving as the fragile portion may be a continuous groove or a discontinuous groove. However, in the case of discontinuous grooves, the interval between adjacent grooves is adjusted so that the cleavage proceeds along the grooves during operation.
- the end point E of the groove may be at a position away from the circumferential portion of the closing member or may be at a position reaching the circumferential portion.
- the piston moves due to the shock wave or pressure generated from the ignition means during operation, and the tip of the rod portion pushes the closing member.
- the cleavage starts from the start point A closest to the intersection X2 or any part between the start point A and the first intermediate point B, and the first intermediate point B, the second intermediate point C, and the third intermediate point Through point D, it is continuously opened up to end point E and opened.
- the opening area formed in the closing member is small and the amount of gas discharged is small, but as the end point E is approached, the opening area increases and the amount of gas discharged increases.
- the output can be suppressed in the initial stage of operation, but the output can be increased in the second half, so when combined with an occupant restraint device such as an air bag, the gas generator has a reduced initial impact on the occupant. (First effect).
- the load is concentrated on a part of the closing member by the rod part of the piston, and the cleavage is started from that part.
- the diameter of the rod portion be smaller than the pressure receiving surface of the piston (the surface facing the ignition means). Therefore, once the load is concentrated in the vicinity of the starting point A as described above and the cleavage is started, a large force is not necessary for the cleavage to continuously proceed to the end point E.
- the necessary load causes the cleavage near the starting point A, and once the cleavage occurs, it is not necessary to apply a further load. Therefore, as in US Patent Publication No. 2003/0146612, the required maximum load can be suppressed as compared with the case where the entire fragile portion is cleaved at once. Therefore, the ignition means portion can be reduced in size, and a lightweight gas generator can be provided (second effect).
- the present invention includes the following preferred embodiments.
- the closing member has a fragile part on either side,
- the vulnerable part is It is a groove formed in a circle or an ellipse from the starting point A to the end point E, with the center (X3) at a position different from the center (X1) of the closing member, provided that the starting point A and the end point E closer No grooves are formed between the distances,
- a gas generator according to the present invention wherein a distance between a starting point A and an end point E from the center (X1) of the closing member satisfies a starting point A ⁇ an end point E.
- the first and second effects can be exhibited.
- the shape of the groove itself can be simplified, so that the machining operation is easy.
- the length of the portion where no groove is formed from the start point A to the end point E is in the range of 5 to 40% of the circular peripheral length or the elliptical peripheral length. It is preferable to make it.
- the end point E has a cleavage stopping means in the fragile portion.
- the cleavage stopping means it is possible to prevent the cleavage reaching the end point E from proceeding further. For this reason, there is no possibility that the gas discharge path is blocked by the broken pieces without generating the broken pieces.
- the cleavage stopping means may be any means that can stop the cleavage so that the cleavage reaching the end point does not proceed any further.
- a method in which another thick member is brought into contact with the end point E a method in which heat is applied to the end point E portion by welding to harden the tissue, a method in which the stress reaching the end point E is dispersed, or the like is applied. be able to.
- a stress dispersion portion disclosed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2005-238948 for example, a stress distribution portion shown in FIG. 1 and paragraph numbers 0029 to 0032
- Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2012-171362 are disclosed. Stress dispersal means such as the disclosed cleavage inhibiting portion (for example, the cleavage inhibiting portion 14 shown in FIG. 1A and paragraph number 0047) can be used.
- the gas generator of the present invention since the closing member that seals the pressurized gas chamber housing has a specific fragile portion, the gas generator starts to cleave from the start point A or its vicinity and continues along the fragile portion to the end point E. Then, the cleavage proceeds continuously and opens. For this reason, in addition to being able to reduce the force required for the tearing, since the cracking is continuously progressed and the area of the opening portion is continuously increased, the impact on the occupant due to the inflation of the airbag in the initial operation can be mitigated Suitable for gas generator.

Abstract
