Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method for producing a polycarbonate and a polycarbonate obtained by the production method.
- Polycarbonates especially aromatic polycarbonates, are widely used in many fields as engineering plastics having excellent heat resistance, impact resistance, transparency, and the like.
- a method for producing polycarbonate for example, the following methods are known.
- (I) A method in which bisphenol A and phosgene are subjected to interfacial polycondensation in the presence of an alkali catalyst phosgene method.
- the method (i) since the reaction proceeds at a low temperature, a colorless and transparent polycarbonate can be obtained.
- the method (i) has the following problems. Use toxic phosgene. ⁇ It is not easy to remove impurities such as sodium chloride by-produced by the reaction.
- the method (ii) since it is not necessary to use a solvent, it is easy to separate the polycarbonate from the reaction system.
- the method (ii) has the following problems.
- the transesterification reaction between bisphenol A and diphenyl carbonate has a slow reaction rate and requires polycondensation for a long time at a high temperature. -The boiling point of phenol separated by transesterification is high, and high temperature is required to remove it. -Side reactions occur during polycondensation due to high temperature, and the polycarbonate is colored. -Due to the high viscosity of the product, it is difficult to remove phenol produced by the transesterification reaction, and it is difficult to obtain a high molecular weight product.
- the method (iii) it is not necessary to use phosgene. Further, since the high molecular weight polycarbonate can be produced at a lower temperature than the method (ii), there is no problem of coloring. However, since the prepolymer that has not been crystallized does not undergo solid phase polymerization, in the method (iii), it is necessary to crystallize the prepolymer in advance. In order to crystallize the prepolymer, the prepolymer is dissolved in a solvent, and then precipitated and crystallized; a solvent having a small dissolving power with respect to the prepolymer is permeated into the prepolymer; Any operation of heating and holding at a temperature not lower than the transition temperature and lower than the melting temperature is necessary. Therefore, the method (iii) has a problem that the process is complicated and the productivity is low.
- the present invention provides a method for producing a polycarbonate having a low coloration and a high molecular weight at a relatively low temperature and with high productivity.
- the manufacturing method of the polycarbonate of this invention has the following process (a) and process (b).
