Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a glass substrate for HDD having a recording density of 630 Gb / square inch or more.
- the quality level required for the information recording medium (media) used is increasing.

For this reason, if a slight amount of abrasive or foreign matter remains on the surface of the medium, a head crash occurs in which the read head collides, which causes a read error. Therefore, the glass substrate for HDD used for media (hereinafter sometimes simply referred to as a glass substrate) is required to be more clean than before.

- Patent Document 2 The variation in the S / N ratio of the magnetic signal described above varies non-uniformly in the minute range of the surface of the glass substrate after manufacturing the glass substrate, during packaging, during transportation, and the like. It was found that this occurs when the stable state is impaired (the surface roughness Ra changes). From this, it became clear that even if the glass substrate was inspected after manufacturing, the factor could not be determined.

Description
なお、表面粗さRaは、たとえばAFM(Veeco Instruments社製のDimension V)を用いて測定することができる。
