Definitions

  • the invention relates to a surgical utensil in the form of a gas supply device for supplying gas in the region of a temporarily opened by surgical intervention point of a human or animal body, with a gas supply line which is connectable to a gas source , and a gas outlet region with at least one gas outlet opening, preferably a plurality of gas outlet openings.
  • Such a device is known from AT394075T.
  • the purpose of such a device is to form a protective atmosphere in the area of an opened body site, which keeps non-sterilized air of the operating room away from the surgical site, whereby infections can be prevented.

  • a disadvantage of the device disclosed in AT394075T is that the staff working on the operating table can not check whether gas is flowing into the area of the opened body site or not. However, the gas cylinder is regularly in the operating room in the offside and is not seen by operating on the operating table staff.
