Abstract
Description
特許文献1で提案された動物用トイレ砂は、染色された核部と、この核部を被覆して核部の色を覆い隠す被覆層と、を備える。そして、この動物用トイレ砂は、被覆層が水分を吸収した場合に核部の色が露見される。
しかしながら、水分を吸収して変色する動物用トイレ砂を使用した場合には、水分を吸収した動物用トイレ砂自体が変色してしまうため、動物用トイレ砂に吸収された尿の色を観察することは困難であった。
本実施形態の動物用トイレ砂は、パルプを主体として構成され吸水性を有する複数の粒状物により構成される。
本発明では、複数の粒状物は、変色粒と白色粒とを含む。
染色核部は、所定の色に染色されている。この染色核部は、粉末状又は短繊維状のパルプを主体として構成された粒状物の表面に、水に溶解された水溶性の染料が噴霧されて形成される。尚、染色核部を構成する粒状物は、粉末状又は短繊維状のパルプを主体とする原料が押出造粒機等により造粒されて形成される。
界面活性剤としては、アニオン界面活性剤、カチオン界面活性剤、両性界面活性剤又はノニオン界面活性剤を用いることができる。これらの界面活性剤を用いることにより、染色核部と尿との親和性を向上させられるので、染色核部の吸水速度を向上させられる。
抗菌剤としては、有機系、無機金属系、光触媒系、及び天然系の抗菌剤を用いることができるが、有機系の界面活性剤型の抗菌剤を好適に用いることができる。これらの抗菌剤を用いることにより、細菌等の増殖を抑制できる。
澱粉としては、タピオカスターチ、及びコーンスターチ等を用いることができる。澱粉は、粒状物が尿を吸収した場合における粘着性を向上させる。
界面活性剤及び抗菌剤は、染色核部に用いられるものと同様のものを用いることができる。
被覆層における高吸水性樹脂の含有量は、尿を吸収した場合に粒状物の固化性を発現させ、かつ、高吸水性樹脂が膨潤してゲル化することによる核部における吸水性の阻害を起こさせないようにする観点から、好ましくは1%~20%、より好ましくは4%~15%である。
以上の変色粒は、水分を吸収すると、被覆層を構成する高吸水性樹脂がゲル化し、また、染色核部に含まれる染料が被覆層側に滲み出す。これにより、染色核部の色が露見され、変色する。
より具体的には、被覆層を、顔料を含んで構成した場合には、変色粒が水分を吸収すると、被覆層に含まれる高吸水性樹脂がゲル化することで透明化して顔料の色が露見する。また、被覆層を、染料を含んで構成した場合には、変色粒が水分を吸収すると、被覆層に含まれる染料が溶解して広がることで、染料の色が露見する。
ここで、白色粒とは、動物の尿の色が付着した場合に、この尿の色が判別できる程度の白色度の粒状物を示す。
核部は、粉末状又は短繊維状のパルプを主体として構成され、粉末状又は短繊維状のパルプを主体とする原料が押出造粒機等により造粒されて形成される。本実施形態では、核部は、染料が噴霧されていない他は、染色核部と同一の原料及び製造方法により製造される。
まず、水分を含んで表面が湿った状態の核部に、高吸水性樹脂、パルプ及び他の材料が混合された粉末をふりかけた後、この粉末がふりかけられた核部を乾燥させる。
次いで、有機溶媒に溶解させた状態の香料を、乾燥させた核部に噴霧する。
以上説明した本実施形態の動物用トイレ砂によれば、排泄された尿が粒状物(変色粒及び白色粒)に吸収されると、被覆層に含まれる高吸水性樹脂が膨潤し、隣り合う粒状物に粘着することで固まりを形成する。
ここで、本実施形態の動物用トイレ砂は、変色粒と白色粒とを含み、変色しない白色粒に香料を含ませた。これにより、液体に溶解させた香料を噴霧しても白色粒は変色しないので、香料を噴霧した白色粒と、水分を吸収すると変色する変色粒とを混合して動物用トイレ砂を構成することで、香りにより尿の臭いを低減でき、かつ尿が吸収された箇所を容易に把握できる動物用トイレ砂を実現できる。また、排泄された尿が白色粒に吸収された場合には、白色粒には尿の色が付着するので、尿の色を容易に確認できる。更に、香料を噴霧しても白色粒は変色しないので、白色粒に含ませられる香料の自由度を高められる。また、尿の色を確認する場合に顔が近づきやすい白色粒に香料を含ませているので、尿の臭いの悪影響をより低減できる。
本実施形態の動物用トイレ砂は、主として猫に用いられる。そして、猫の一回の排尿の量は、約20mlである。ここで、粒状物の粒度が3mm~8mmの場合、20mlの尿の吸収に用いられる粒状物は300粒~500粒となる。そこで、変色粒及び白色粒の粒度を3mm以上8mm未満とし、粒状物全体に占める白色粒の割合を、0.5%以上とすることで、一回に排泄された尿を吸収した粒状物中に複数の白色粒を含ませられる。これにより、尿の色の確認をより確実に行える。また、粒状物全体に占める白色粒の割合を30%以下とすることで、尿を吸収した箇所がまだら模様になりにくいので、尿を吸収した箇所の把握しやすさを保てる。
尚、本明細書においては、8mmメッシュの篩を通過し、3mmメッシュの篩を通過しない粒状物を3mm以上8mm未満の粒度の粒状物とする。
尚、粒度3mm以上8mm未満の粒状物以外の粒状物としては、例えば、粒度3mm以上8mm未満の粒状物が割れて細かくなった粒状物が挙げられる。
使い捨ておむつ製造時の廃材から取り出される、主としてパルプからなり、高吸水性樹脂を含む原料を粒度φ5mm~φ15mmで粉砕し、造粒水分率が10~40%となるように水を加えた。
混合後、混合物を押出造粒機を用いて造粒した。ここで、スクリーンから押し出した混合物を4mm間隔で切断して核部及び染色核部の元を得た。
次いで、得られた染色核部の元に、水溶性の染料を噴霧して染色核部を得た。
次いで、得られた白色粒の元の表面に、有機溶媒に溶解させた香料を噴霧し、白色粒を得た。
得られた変色粒及び白色粒を、それぞれ、4mmメッシュの篩にかけて、この4mmメッシュの篩を通過した粒状物を除去した。
尚、得られた変色粒及び白色粒は、8mmメッシュの篩を通過し、3mmメッシュの篩を通過しないものであった。
実施例1~7、比較例1及び2の動物用トイレ砂について、尿色の確認しやすさ及び固まりの視認性を評価した。結果を以下の表1に示す。
実施例1~7、比較例1及び2の動物用トイレ砂を、それぞれ、深さが10cm以上となるようにビーカーに収容する。
次いで、動物用トイレ砂が収容されたビーカーに、擬似尿として、黄色染料入りの生理食塩水(0.9% NaCl aq)20mlを、動物用トイレ砂の上面の上方3cmの位置から10秒間かけて滴下する。
擬似尿の滴下後10分間放置し、その後、得られた固まりについて、擬似尿の黄色が識別しやすいかを評価した。
評価は猫飼育者10名によって行い、固まり中の黄色が識別しやすいと答えた人数が8名~10名の場合を◎、4名~7名の場合を○、0名~3名の場合を△とした。
実施例1~7、比較例1及び2の動物用トイレ砂を、それぞれ、深さが10cm以上となるようにビーカーに収容する。
次いで、動物用トイレ砂が収容されたビーカーに、擬似尿として、生理食塩水(0.9% NaCl aq)20mlを、動物用トイレ砂の上面の上方3cmの位置から10秒間かけて滴下する。
擬似尿の滴下後10分間放置し、その後、得られた固まりについて、固まりが視認しやすいかを評価した。
比較例1で得られた固まりと比して、その他の実施例及び比較例で得られた固まりが視認しやすいかを評価した。
評価は、猫飼育者10名によって行い、比較例1で得られた固まりと同じくらい視認しやすいと答えた人数が8名~10名の場合を◎、4名~7名の場合を○、0名~3名の場合を△とした。
Claims (11)
- 吸水性を有する複数の粒状物からなる動物用トイレ砂であって、
前記粒状物は、
パルプを含んで構成され、水分を吸収して変色する変色粒と、
パルプを含んで構成される核部と、パルプ、高吸水性樹脂及び香料を含んで構成され前記核部を被覆する被覆層とを備え水分を吸収しても変色しない白色粒と、を含み、
重量比において、前記変色粒が前記白色粒よりも多く含まれる動物用トイレ砂。 - 前記変色粒は、所定の色に染色された染色核部と、パルプ及び高吸水性樹脂を含んで構成され前記染色核部を被覆して該染色核部の色を覆い隠す被覆層と、を備え、
前記被覆層が水分を吸収した場合に前記染色核部の色が露見される請求項1に記載の動物用トイレ砂。 - 前記染色核部は、吸収性物品の廃材を含み、該染色核部の色は、前記廃材の色よりも濃い請求項2に記載の動物用トイレ砂。
- 前記染色核部は、寒色系の色に染色される請求項2又は3に記載の動物用トイレ砂。
- 前記変色粒は、パルプを含んで構成される核部と、所定の顔料又は染料を含んで構成され前記核部を被覆する被覆層と、を備え、
前記被覆層が水分を吸収した場合に前記被覆層に含まれる顔料又は染料の色が露見される請求項1に記載の動物用トイレ砂。 - 前記変色粒の前記被覆層は、寒色系の色に染色される請求項5に記載の動物用トイレ砂。
- 前記変色粒及び前記白色粒の粒度は、3mm以上8mm未満であり、
前記粒状物全体に占める前記白色粒の割合は、重量比において、0.5%~30%である請求項1~6のいずれかに記載の動物用トイレ砂。 - 前記変色粒は、水分を吸収していない状態において白色の粒状物である請求項1~7のいずれかに記載の動物用トイレ砂。
- 前記粒状物は、消臭剤を含む請求項1~8のいずれかに記載の動物用トイレ砂。
- 前記粒状物は、界面活性剤を含む請求項1~9のいずれかに記載の動物用トイレ砂。
- 前記被覆層に含まれるパルプの割合は、前記核部及び前記染色核部に含まれるパルプの割合よりも大きい請求項2~10のいずれかに記載の動物用トイレ砂。
