Abstract
本発明は、300nm 以下の紫外域での透過性に優れた紫外域透過ガラスの提供を目的・課題とする。 そして、本発明の紫外線透過ガラスは、酸化物換算による重量%表示で、SiO2 10~40%、B2O3 10~40%、Al2O3 2~7%、Li2O 0~5%、Na2O 0~8%、K2O 0~8%(ただし、Li2O+Na2O+K2O=0~10%)、CaO 0~40%、BaO 0~40%、ZnO 0~10%(ただし、CaO+BaO+MgO+SrO+ZnO=1~40%)、Y2O3 0~17%、ZrO2 0~18%、La2O3 0~15%(ただし、Y2O3, ZrO2, La2O3 のいずれか一以上を含む)、Sb2O3 0~0.5%を含有し、微細結晶を析出させることで、肉厚2.0mm の試料における250nm の透過率を60%以上とした。
Description
本発明は、安価で化学耐久性に優れた紫外線透過ガラスに関する。
現在、紫外域を透過するガラスとして、フッ素を含まないリン酸塩ガラスや、フッ素を含むリン酸塩ガラスや、石英ガラスなどが一般に知られている。
しかし、リン酸塩ガラスは、化学的性質が弱いという問題があり、一方、石英ガラスは、非常に高価であるという問題がある。
ここで、特許文献1には、紫外線透過フィルター用ガラスについての教示があるが、そのガラスには、300nm以下の紫外域での透過率がほぼゼロであるという問題がある。
本発明は、上記の問題点に鑑みてなされたものであって、化学耐久性が強く、コストが安価であり、300nm以下の紫外域での透過性に優れた紫外域透過ガラスを提供することを目的とする。
上記の目的を達成するため、本発明に係る紫外線透過ガラスは、 酸化物換算による重量%表示で、
SiO2 10%~40%、
B2O3 10%~40%、
Al2O3 2%~7.0%、
Li2O 0~5%、Na2O 0~8%、K2O 0~8.0%(但し、Li2O+Na2O+K2O=0%~10%)、
CaO 0%~40%、BaO 0%~40%、ZnO 0~10%(但し、CaO+BaO+MgO+SrO+ZnO=1%~40%)
Y2O3 0%~17%、 ZrO2 0%~18.0% La2O3 0~15.0%(但し、Y2O3、ZrO2、La2O3の何れか一以上を含む)、
Sb2O3 0%~0.5%を含有し、微細結晶を析出させることで、肉厚2.0mmの試料における250nmの透過率を60%以上としたことを特徴とする。

Sb2O3 0%~0.5%を含有し、微細結晶を析出させることで、肉厚2.0mmの試料における250nmの透過率を60%以上としたことを特徴とする。
本発明では、例えば、液相温度の維持時間を適宜に調整することで最適な微細結晶を析出させることができる。但し、ガラス成形後に再加熱処理によって結晶化を図ることもでき、この場合も、再加熱温度や加熱時間を調整することで、最適な微細結晶を生成することができる。
本発明の組成物のうちSiO2はガラスの網目形成酸化物であり化学的耐久性、耐水性を維持する。40%を超えるとガラスの溶融性が悪くなり、10%以下では耐久性が悪くなる。
B2O3もガラスの網目形成酸化物であり欠かすことができない成分である。多すぎると化学的耐久性が悪くなり、少なすぎるとガラスの溶融性が悪くなるので10%~40%の含有量とすべきである。
Al2O3はガラスの分相や失透を抑える効果や化学耐久性、耐水性を改善する効果があるが7.0%を超えるとガラスの溶融性に問題がある。
Li2Oはガラスの粘性を下げる効果があり、ガラスの溶融性を良好にするが、5%を超えるとガラスの結晶性が大きくなり化学的耐久性、耐水性も悪くなる。Na2O、K2Oはガラスの溶融性を良好にするが、共に8%を超えるとガラスの化学耐久性、耐水性が悪くなる。したがって、アルカリ成分の範囲はLi2O+Na2O+K2O=0%~10%とするのが望ましい。
アルカリアース成分BaOは、40%を超えるとガラスの化学耐久性、耐水性が悪くなる。アルカリアース成分であるCaO、ZnOは、化学耐久性、耐水性を改善するために有効な成分であるが、CaOが40%を超えるか、ZnOが10%を超えると結晶性が大きくなる。そこで、アルカリアース成分は、CaO 0%~40%、BaO 0%~40%、ZnO 0~10%(但し、CaO+BaO+MgO+SrO+ZnO=1%~40%)とするのが好ましい。更に好ましくは、CaO+BaO+ZnO=1%~40%とするべきである。なお、MgO、SrOを使用する実施例を示していないが、これらの成分がCaOやBaOやZnOと代替可能であることは実験的に確認している。
ZrO2は、ガラスの化学耐久性、耐水性を改善するために有効な成分であるが15.0%を超えるとガラスの溶融性が悪くなり、結晶化も激しくなる。Y2O3は化学耐久性、耐水性を改善するために有効な成分であるが17%を超えるとガラスの溶融性が悪くなり、結晶性も大きくなる。
また、Y2O3又はZrO2に代え、或いは、これらに加えて、La2O3 0~15.0%を含有させるもの好適である。そこで、本発明では、Y2O3、ZrO2、La2O3の何れか一以上を含有させている。好ましくは、Y2O3+ZrO2+La2O3=4~25%、更に好ましくは、前記の含有率を5~20%とすべきである。
なお、Sb2O3を0%~0.5%を含有させても良いことは確認済みである。
また、CaF2換算による重量%表示で、フッ素を0~3.0%含有させるのも好適であり、更に好ましくは、前記の含有率を0.1~2.0%とすべきである。
上記した本発明によれば、安価で化学耐久性に優れ、300nm以下の紫外域での透過性に優れた紫外域透過ガラスを実現することができる。
以下、本発明の実施例について詳細に説明するが、何ら本発明を限定するものではない。
図1は、実施例と比較例のガラス組成を図示したものである。図示する組成の各ガラス100gが得られるように調整された原料バッチを白金製坩堝に入れ、1380~1450℃に設定された炉内で溶融し攪拌、静澄、結晶成長を行いステンレス製の鋳型に鋳込み、徐冷工程を経て実施例1~実施例12のガラス試料を作成した。なお、液相温度の維持時間を適宜に調整することで微細結晶を析出させた。
一方、比較例1~比較例2については、結晶化を阻止する通常の工程にしたがってガラス試料を作成した。
このようにして製造された実施例と比較例について、厚み2.0mm±0.05mmで研磨を行い、日立分光光度計で200nm~800nmの範囲で透過率を測定した。
図2~図13は、実施例1~実施例12の透過率であり、図14~図15は、比較例1~2の透過率である。実施例1と比較例1はガラス組成としては同じであり、微細結晶の存在の有無だけが相違する。図2と図14との対比から確認される通り、ガラスを結晶化させると、可視域の透過率は散乱によって減少するものの、紫外域の透過率については、逆に上昇する。
そして、何れの実施例でも、250nmにおける透過率が60%を超えており、より好適には65%を超え、更に好適には70%を超えていることが確認される。そのため、300nm以下の紫外域において、計測用途や通信用途において、特定波長の紫外線を通過させるガラスフィルターとして最適である。

- 酸化物換算による重量%表示で、
SiO2 10%~40%、
B2O3 10%~40%、
Al2O3 2%~7.0%、
Li2O 0~5%、Na2O 0~8%、K2O 0~8.0%(但し、Li2O+Na2O+K2O=0%~10%)、
CaO 0%~40%、BaO 0%~40%、ZnO 0~10%(但し、CaO+BaO+MgO+SrO+ZnO=1%~40%)
Y2O3 0%~17%、 ZrO2 0%~18.0% La2O3 0~15.0%(但し、Y2O3、ZrO2、La2O3の何れか一以上を含む)、
Sb2O3 0%~0.5%を含有し、微細結晶を析出させることで、肉厚2.0mmの試料における250nmの透過率を60%以上としたことを特徴とする紫外線透過ガラス。 - CaF2換算による重量%表示で、フッ素を0~3.0%含有する請求項1に記載の紫外線透過ガラス。
- 請求項1又は2に記載のガラスを使用する紫外線透過フィルター。
