Abstract
Description
還流冷却器、滴下ロート、窒素ガス導入管、及び翼径50mmの4枚傾斜パドル翼を2段で有する撹拌翼(フッ素樹脂を表面にコートしたもの)を備えた内径100mmの丸底円筒型セパラブルフラスコ(以下、丸底フラスコという)を準備した。丸底フラスコに炭化水素分散媒としてn-ヘプタン660mLを加え、界面活性剤としてソルビタンモノラウレート(日油社製、商品名:ノニオンLP-20R;HLB8.6)1.10gを添加し、70℃まで昇温して界面活性剤をn-ヘプタンに溶解して、油性液を調製した。
丸底フラスコ中で75℃まで昇温して界面活性剤をn-ヘプタンに溶解して、実施例1と同様の組成を有する油性液を調製した。75℃に維持された油性液に対して、水性液の全量を添加し、添加終了時点の懸濁混合物の温度が55℃になった。これ以外は、実施例1と同様の操作を行い、顆粒状の吸水性樹脂粒子を89.1g得た。
還流冷却器、滴下ロート、窒素ガス導入管、及び翼径50mmの4枚傾斜パドル翼を2段で有する撹拌翼(フッ素樹脂を表面にコートしたもの)を備えた内径100mmの丸底円筒型セパラブルフラスコ(以下、丸底フラスコという)を準備した。丸底フラスコに炭化水素分散媒としてn-ヘプタン530mLを加え、界面活性剤としてソルビタンモノラウレート(日油株式会社製、商品名:ノニオンLP-20R;HLB8.6)1.65gを添加し、72℃まで昇温して界面活性剤をn-ヘプタンに溶解して、油性液を調製した。
還流冷却器、滴下ロート、窒素ガス導入管、及び翼径50mmの4枚傾斜パドル翼を2段で有する撹拌翼(フッ素樹脂を表面にコートしたもの)を備えた内径100mmの丸底円筒型セパラブルフラスコ(以下、丸底フラスコという)を準備した。丸底フラスコに炭化水素分散媒としてn-ヘプタン660mLを加え、界面活性剤としてソルビタンモノラウレート(日油社製、商品名:ノニオンLP-20R;HLB8.6)1.10gを添加し、45℃まで昇温して界面活性剤をn-ヘプタンに溶解して、油性液を調製した。
内容積500mLの三角フラスコに、水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体として80質量%のアクリル酸水溶液92g(1.02モル)を加え、上記アクリル酸を氷水冷し、攪拌しながら、三角フラスコに21質量%水酸化ナトリウム水溶液146.0gを滴下して、上記アクリル酸のうち75モル%の中和を行い、単量体濃度38質量%のアクリル酸部分中和塩水溶液を調製した。得られたアクリル酸部分中和塩水溶液に、内部架橋剤としてエチレングリコールジグリシジエーテル18.4mg(106マイクロモル)、ラジカル重合開始剤として過硫酸カリウム92mgを加え、第一の水性液を調製した。
実施例および比較例で得られた吸水性樹脂粒子について、以下の評価を行った。評価結果を表2に示す。
(a)検量線の作成
実施例及び比較例で使用した炭化水素分散媒、ジメチルホルムアミド(DMF)、25質量%リン酸水溶液を、栓のできるガラス容器に用意した。これらは測定中の揮発による誤差を抑えるため、必要に応じて冷却して用いた。
DMFと25質量%リン酸水溶液を用意した。内容積20mLのバイアル瓶に、実施例及び比較例で得られた吸水性樹脂粒子0.10gをそれぞれ精秤した。このバイアル瓶に、DMFを4mL、25質量%リン酸水溶液5mLを加えた。セプタムゴムとアルミキャップを用いてバイアル瓶を速やかに密栓し、バイアル瓶を1分間振とう混合した。上記バイアル瓶を振とう混合しながら、110℃で2時間加温した後、1mLの気相部をガスクロマトグラフに注入し、クロマトグラムを得た。

バイアル瓶加熱温度:110℃
シリンジ設定温度:130℃
吸水性樹脂粒子の膨潤時の炭化水素分散媒由来の臭気を次の方法にて評価した。内容積140mLの蓋付ガラス瓶(マヨネーズ瓶)に、25℃の0.9質量%食塩水20.0gを加え、長さ3cmの回転子を入れて攪拌した。吸水性樹脂粒子2.0gを上記ガラス瓶に添加し密閉した。当該ガラス瓶中の炭化水素分散媒由来の臭気を、表1に示す評価基準に準じて、5名の分析者が判定し、その平均値を臭気の評価結果とした。
生理食塩水吸収量は、以下の方法により評価した。0.9質量%食塩水500gと吸水性樹脂粒子2.0gとを混合し、室温で60分間攪拌した。質量Wa(g)を有する、目開き75μmのJIS Z 8801-1標準篩を用いて、上記混合液をろ過した。篩を水平に対して約30度の傾斜角となるように傾けた状態で、ろ物を篩上で30分間放置した。吸水した吸水性樹脂粒子と篩の質量の合計Wb(g)を測定し、以下の式により、吸水量を求めた。
生理食塩水の吸水量=(Wb-Wa)/2.0
吸水速度の測定は、25℃±1℃に調節された室内で行われた。恒温水槽にて25±0.2℃の温度に調整した生理食塩水50±0.1gをマグネチックスターラーバー(8mmφ×30mmのリング無し)で攪拌して、回転数600rpmで渦を発生させた。吸水性樹脂粒子2.0±0.002gを、上記生理食塩水中に一度に添加し、吸水性樹脂粒子の添加後から液面の渦が収束する時点までの時間(秒)を測定し、当該時間を吸水性樹脂粒子の吸水速度とした。
吸水性樹脂粒子100gに、滑剤として非晶質シリカ(デグサジャパン株式会社製、商品名:Sipernat 200)0.5gを混合した。上記吸水性樹脂粒子を、JIS Z 8801-1標準篩の目開き250μmの篩に通過させ、全量に対して篩上に残る量が50質量%以上の場合には、下記(A)の篩の組み合わせを、50質量%未満の場合には、下記(B)の篩の組み合わせを用いて中位粒子径を測定した。
(A)JIS標準篩を上から、目開き850μmの篩、目開き600μmの篩、目開き500μmの篩、目開き425μmの篩、目開き300μmの篩、目開き250μmの篩、目開き150μmの篩及び受け皿の順に組み合わせた。
(B)JIS標準篩を上から、目開き425μmの篩、目開き250μmの篩、目開き180μmの篩、目開き150μmの篩、目開き106μmの篩、目開き75μmの篩、目開き45μmの篩及び受け皿の順に組み合わせた。
吸水性樹脂粒子の粉体ハンドリング性は、5名の分析者により、以下基準に従って目視により評価された。3名以上の分析者が選択した評価を、その吸水性樹脂粒子の粉体ハンドリング性とした。
良好:粉立ちが少ない。流動性が適度にあり、計量や清掃等の操作が容易。
不良:粉立ちが多い。流動性が低いので、計量や清掃等の操作が難しい。
Claims (6)
- 炭化水素分散媒及び界面活性剤を含む油性液と、水性溶媒及び水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を含む水性液とを混合して、前記油性液及び前記油性液中に分散された前記水性液を含む懸濁液を形成し、前記懸濁液中で前記水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を重合させることを含む重合工程を備え、
前記界面活性剤のHLBが6以上であり、
前記油性液と前記水性液とを混合し始めてからこれらの全量を混合し終わるまでの間、前記懸濁液の温度が35℃以上に維持される、
吸水性樹脂粒子の製造方法。 - 炭化水素分散媒及び界面活性剤を含む油性液と、水性溶媒及び水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を含む水性液とを混合して、前記油性液及び前記油性液中に分散された前記水性液を含む懸濁液を形成し、前記懸濁液中で前記水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を重合させて、含水ゲル状重合体を含む懸濁液を得ることを含む、第一重合工程と、
前記含水ゲル状重合体を含む45℃以上の懸濁液と、水性溶媒及び水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を含む第二の水性液とを混合して、前記第二の水性液をさらに分散させた懸濁液中で、前記水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体を重合させることを含む、第二重合工程と、をこの順に備え、
前記界面活性剤のHLBが6以上であり、
前記油性液と前記水性液とを混合し始めてからこれらの全量を混合し終わるまでの間、前記懸濁液の温度が35℃以上に維持される、吸水性樹脂粒子の製造方法。 - 前記水性液と混合される前記油性液の温度が50℃以上である、請求項1又は2に記載の吸水性樹脂粒子の製造方法。
- 前記界面活性剤が、ソルビタン脂肪酸エステル、ポリグリセリン脂肪酸エステル、およびショ糖脂肪酸エステルからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種の化合物を含む、請求項1~3のいずれか1項に記載の吸水性樹脂粒子の製造方法。
- 前記水溶性エチレン性不飽和単量体が、アクリル酸およびその塩、メタクリル酸およびその塩、ならびにアクリルアミドからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種の化合物を含む、請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載の吸水性樹脂粒子の製造方法。
- 前記炭化水素分散媒が、炭素数6~8の脂肪族炭化水素、および炭素数6~8の脂環族炭化水素からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種の分散媒を含む、請求項1~5のいずれか1項に記載の吸水性樹脂粒子の製造方法。
