Abstract

L'invention porte sur un dispositif de commande qui détermine des formats de codage à utiliser par un dispositif d'enregistrement afin d'enregistrer du contenu souhaité sur le dispositif de stockage de manière à ce qu'au moins un dispositif de reproduction parmi de multiples dispositifs de reproduction puisse reproduire le contenu à partir du dispositif de stockage. Une unité de surveillance du dispositif de commande surveille l'état d'utilisation du dispositif de stockage. Une unité de gestion de format de codage gère des informations qui indiquent des formats de codage décodables par les dispositifs de reproduction respectifs. Une unité de gestion d'historique gère des historiques d'opérations, telles qu'une reproduction de contenu à partir du dispositif de stockage, des dispositifs de reproduction respectifs. Une unité de détermination sélectionne, parmi les formats de codage décodables par les multiples dispositifs de reproduction, un ou plusieurs formats de codage par ordre décroissant de vraisemblance d'utilisation dans le transfert de contenu du dispositif de stockage à n'importe lequel des dispositifs de reproduction sur la base de l'état d'utilisation du dispositif de stockage et des historiques, de manière à ce que des données entières obtenues par codage du contenu souhaité au moyen du ou des formats de codage soient enregistrées sur le dispositif de stockage.
