Definitions
- the invention relates to a display device for the state of charge of the battery of an electric vehicle having the features of the preamble of claim 1 and method.
- An electric vehicle is a vehicle that is driven by an electric motor. To power the electric motor, an electric vehicle has a battery that provides the power needed to power the electric vehicle while traveling with the electric vehicle. Such a battery of an electric vehicle must be recharged following a discharge in order to continue a journey.
- Charging a battery of an electric vehicle can take a relatively long time, and especially significantly longer than refueling of a motor vehicle with a conventional fuel such as gasoline, diesel or gas.
- the speed of charging also depends on the electrical power that can be provided. Charging times can vary accordingly. If the user of an electric vehicle wants to continue his journey in a timely manner following charging, then he is forced, as when refueling with a fuel such as gasoline, to be able to continuously monitor the bearing process.
- German Patent Application 10 2010 002 514 A1 discloses a display panel of an electric vehicle which is capable of displaying the state of charge of the battery of an electric vehicle.
- the display panel is placed in the interior of the electric vehicle in such a way that the displayed information can also be read from the outside.
- the scoreboard may include a plurality of different color lights for transmitting information.
- a display device for an electric vehicle which is able to signal or display the state of charge of the battery of an electric vehicle by means of a lighting element or lighting means.
- the display device projects with the aid of the illumination means the information about the state of charge of a battery of the electric vehicle on a surface and in particular in or on a window or windshield of the motor vehicle or on the ground on which the motor vehicle is located.
- a projection in the sense of the present invention is when the information on the surface becomes visible to a human observer being projected, regardless of whether it is daylight or dark.
- An information on the state of charge projected onto a pane of the electric vehicle or to the floor outside the electric vehicle is visible from the outside, which is of particular interest during charging when a user is away from the electric vehicle.
- the projection surface which is or can be projected, relative to the electric vehicle chosen so that it can be seen at least from the driver's seat of the electric vehicle from. At any time then the state of charge of the battery can be seen among other things also from the driver's seat.
- An on-seat driver of an electric vehicle can do so be informed in time when the battery of his electric vehicle must be recharged or when it has been charged.
- a driver or user of an electric vehicle can move away from the vehicle during charging, without necessarily having to give up information about the state of charge of the battery.
- the display device is part of a lighting device which serves to illuminate and / or but which assumes a display function of a different kind.
- the illumination device then takes on at least two functions and serves on the one hand to indicate the state of charge of the battery of the electric vehicle and on the other a lighting and / or as a display, for example as an indication of the position of a component such as the position of a lid or a Flap.
- the position of the displayed component is easily detected and in particular even in poor visibility conditions.
- the state of charge of the battery is indicated by different light colors and / or different flashing speeds of the illumination means.
- the color red indicates that a battery of an electric vehicle is almost completely discharged.
- the color yellow preferably indicates a medium discharge state.
- Orange tones can indicate a state of charge between the two aforementioned states of charge of the battery.
- Other colors, such as green or blue, indicate a charged or substantially charged condition of the battery of an electric vehicle in one embodiment of the invention.
- the different light colors can in one embodiment by differently illuminating illuminants to be provided. Alternatively or additionally, different light colors can be generated by different color filters. The position of a color filter can be automatically exchanged to change a light color. Depending on the state of charge of the battery, different color filters can be illuminated so as to produce color information in the manner described.
- the direction of a light cone of a lighting means can be changed automatically and directed in response to the state of charge of the battery to a corresponding color filter.
- a separate means of illumination can be placed, which is switched on or off depending on the state of charge of the battery of the electric vehicle. It can be used a lighting means which is electronically controlled to change its light color.
- the display device is part of the outer skin of the electric vehicle or is integrated in the outer skin of the electric vehicle.
- the outer skin of the electric vehicle may be the body of a motor vehicle.
- the display device is integrated in a cover or in a flap or else the cover or flap is part of the display device with which a charge socket or charging plug, ie a charging device of the electric vehicle, can be covered for charging the battery.
- the charging socket or the charging plug are then usually in an interior that is adjacent to the outer skin of the electric vehicle.
- the lid or the flap then form part of the outer skin of the electric vehicle.
- the display device is integrated in a bumper of the electric vehicle.

- a lighting means located in the interior is part of the display device with which the state of charge of the battery can be displayed.
- the electrical contacts of the two charging devices must be aligned with each other.
- the charging device of a charging station must therefore be aligned relatively accurately before being connected in order to be connected to a charging device of an electric vehicle for charging. Due to these relatively high alignment requirements, it is advantageous to be able to illuminate the interior of a charging device of an electric vehicle, so as to facilitate the alignment even in poor visibility conditions.
- the lighting of the interior is now used to make the flap or the lid also improved visible to easily and quickly find the lid or flap even in low light conditions.
- the lighting function provided by the lighting means is then used in triplicate for illuminating the interior of the charging device, for visualizing the cover or the flap from the outside, and as an indicator of the state of charge of the battery of the electric vehicle.
- the lid or the flap is partially provided with a disc or a plastic film or formed by a disc or a plastic film, which consists of an inorganic or organic transparent material.
- the transparent area can thus consist, for example, of a plexiglass pane.
- the transparent region can be inserted into a recess provided in the cover or in the flap.
- the cover or the flap can also be formed by a partially covered transparent plate, so that there is a partial area, which allows light to pass from the interior of the charging device to the outside.
- the lid or the flap is designed to be transparent, not only to illuminate the lid or flap for reasons mentioned above, but also to provide a pattern or a mark, indicating, for example, that it is a flap or a lid of a charging device is.
- a pattern for example, a letter, in particular a small “e” or a large “E” may be provided, which indicates the electrical connection possibility.
- a self-explanatory symbol such as a charging plug, in particular with electric cable can be displayed, so as to indicate that it is the flap or the lid of a charging device of the electric vehicle.
- the area that represents the letter or the symbol, transparent and the adjacent areas are not transparent or vice versa.
- One or more LEDs can be used for a visual display along with additional function.
- the light color or different light colors of one or more LEDs can be used to signal different states of charge of the battery of the electric vehicle.
- a lighting means flash at different speeds and the respective, in particular electronically controlled depending on the state of charge of the battery flashing speed for displaying the state of charge of the battery can be used.
- the display device may comprise a loudspeaker in order to acoustically indicate, for example, the necessity of charging or else to acoustically signal the end of a charging process.

- FIG. 3 shows a section through a further embodiment of an interior of the charging device
- Figure 4 flap with transparent edge region of the charging device
- Figure 5 display device with a plurality of illuminated surfaces
- an electric vehicle 1 with a bumper 2 is shown in detail.
- a flap 3 of a charging device of the electric vehicle 1 is integrated to close an interior of the charging device can.
- the flap 3 is partially transparent, namely in the form of an "e" 4.
- Behind the flap 3 within the bumper 2 is arranged a lighting center 5 which comprises, for example, one or more LEDs 6.
- the light cone emanating therefrom is in the direction of the transparent area 4 of the flap 3 directed and able to illuminate the "e”.
- the letter "e” is clearly visible from the outside, especially in low light conditions.
- the lighting means in one embodiment is such that it can illuminate in a controlled manner in different colors, depending on the state of charge of the battery In addition, in one embodiment, the light color of the lighting means will be additionally controlled in dependence on the position of the flap 3.
- the electronic control system controls the light color of the lighting means Charging device has not yet been connected to the charging device of a charging station, so a bright light color is set as white, for example, to ensure good illumination of the interior is a charging device of a charging station with the charging device of Electric vehicle has been connected for charging and is charged
- the electronic control is in one embodiment such that now again different light colors depending on the state of charge of the battery are radiated so as to see from a greater distance the state of charge of the battery from the outside and thus be able to estimate the end of a recharging process.
- the lighting means 5 thus takes on three tasks, namely the task to illuminate the interior in due course, to make the position of the flap 3 clearly visible even in bad visibility from the outside and to signal the state of charge of the battery of the electric vehicle.
- the electronic controller can control the blinking rate as a function of the state of charge of the battery and preferably also as a function of charging. If, for example, the flap 3 has been opened, the flashing of the lighting device or means in one embodiment of the invention is preferably stopped.
- the illumination means then light up, in particular initially permanently and preferably for a limited time until the charging device of a charging station has been connected to the charging device of the electric vehicle for charging and / or until a predetermined time period has elapsed. In order to save power, it is not possible, in particular during the journey with the electric vehicle, to switch on the lighting device or the illumination means of the display device since such a display or interior lighting is not useful during the journey.
- FIG. 2 shows a section through the interior 7 of a further embodiment of the charging device.
- two illumination means 5 of the display device arranged opposite one another so that the light cones of the LEDs 6 extend parallel to the flap 3. Since the two light cones 8 expand, both the region 9, which comprises the electrical contacts of the charging device and the flap 3 can be sufficiently illuminated.
- the two illumination means 5 are arranged adjacent to side walls 10 of the interior 7 which are opposite one another. Each illumination means 5 may, in one embodiment of the invention, shine in a different color. Depending on the condition that is to be signaled or taken, the one lighting means or the other lighting means is turned on or off. If the interior is to be illuminated, for example, following an opening of the flap three, it is preferable to illuminate all the illumination means 5 in the interior, preferably controlled by an electrical system and / or electronics.
- burst states can also be used to indicate or occupy a state.
- a quick flashing of such a lighting means 5 may indicate that the associated battery is largely discharged. The slower each light means 5 flashes, the more the battery is charged. The lighting means or 5 in particular do not flash when the interior is to be illuminated following an opening of the lid and / or the battery of the electric vehicle is fully charged.
- the lid or flap 3 may be placed so as to allow projection of the light generated by the illuminating means 5 onto the adjacent floor.
- FIG. 3 shows a further embodiment of the invention, in which a plurality of illumination means 5, which are part of the Display device are on side walls 10 are arranged in pairs opposite one another.
- the light cone 8 of the illumination means 5 directly illuminate the flap 3 and are therefore directed in the direction of the flap 3.
- an edge region 11 of the flap 3 is designed to be transparent. If the at least one illumination means that is part of the display device emits light, not only the area 4 with the letter “e” is made visible, but also the edge area 11. Instead of an "e", a charging plug can also be displayed. Adjacent to the edge region 11, illumination means such as LEDs, that is to say light-emitting diodes, can be attached, which serve as illumination means. For example, via a total reflection by the edge region 11, this light can then be radiated from the vehicle. These LEDs can alternatively or additionally serve to signal the state of charge of the battery, for example in the form of a color gamut or by the number of luminous LEDs.
- illumination means such as LEDs, that is to say light-emitting diodes
- the at least one illumination means 5 again serves to indicate the position of the flap 3 and as interior lighting of the interior 7.
- FIG. 4 shows the possibility of attaching LEDs 16 adjacent to the edge region 11.
- the LEDs can emit a light which is reflected by the edge region 11 and, in particular, is totally reflected.
- the LEDs 16 may be used to indicate the state of charge of the battery, for example by the number of LEDs lit or by a color gamut.
- a display device is shown, which comprises a plurality of surfaces 12, 13, 14, 15, which can shine or which are transparent and can be illuminated from the back by one or more illumination means.
- the surfaces 12, 13, 14, 15 are differently colored or can be lit or illuminated in different colors to indicate the state of charge of the battery of an electric vehicle by means of a hue, ie in the form of a color scale.
- the color red can signal that the battery is almost completely discharged.
- the orange color may indicate that there is a need to recharge the battery as it is largely, but not nearly completely, discharged.
- the color yellow can signal that a battery is charged satisfactorily.
- the color green or blue can signal that the battery of the electric vehicle is almost completely charged.
- the number of luminous surfaces is a measure of the state of charge of the battery of the electric vehicle. For example, the more surfaces 12, 13, 14, 15 glow, the more the battery of an electric vehicle is charged. If all surfaces 12, 13, 14, 15 shine, the battery of the electric vehicle is fully charged. If none of the surfaces 12, 13, 14, 15 are illuminated, the battery of the electric vehicle is completely discharged. This order also takes into account the fact that energy consumption must be avoided when the battery has been almost completely discharged.
- the position of a luminous surface 12, 13, 14, 15 can be used to illustrate the state of charge of the battery of the electric vehicle.
- the height of a luminous surface may correspond to the state of charge of the battery of the electric vehicle. ever above a surface 12, 13, 14, 15 moistens, the more the battery of the electric vehicle is charged in an embodiment of the invention.
- the various ways of indicating the state of charge of the battery of an electric vehicle are combined with each other, such as the light color with the number of surfaces that illuminate and / or with a blinking speed.
- a display device as shown in Figure 5 may be mounted at different locations of a motor vehicle, so for example integrated in a bumper or in the body. The display device can be accommodated in the interior of the vehicle, for example in the dashboard or in the return tray.
