Definitions
- the present invention relates to a non-aqueous electrolyte useful for an electric double layer capacitor.
- the electric double layer capacitor has a built-in electric storage element impregnated with a non-aqueous electrolyte solution (referring to an electrolyte salt dissolved in a non-aqueous solvent).
- This non-aqueous electrolyte generally uses a carbonate such as propylene carbonate as a non-aqueous solvent.
- carbonate has a property of decomposing by reacting with water at the time of charging, compared with the carbonate.
- a non-aqueous electrolyte using a cyclic sulfone such as sulfolane having low reactivity with water as a non-aqueous solvent has been proposed (see Patent Document 1).
- the cyclic sulfone has a higher viscosity than the carbonic ester, and the resistance value of the electric storage element tends to be higher when the viscosity is higher. Therefore, the chain sulfone having a lower viscosity than the cyclic sulfone such as dimethyl sulfone is used.
- a non-aqueous electrolytic solution using as a non-aqueous solvent see Patent Document 2.
- the chain sulfone has a lower viscosity than the cyclic sulfone, the viscosity becomes considerably high in a low temperature environment, particularly at a temperature of zero degrees or less. As the viscosity increases, the resistance value of the electricity storage element becomes higher than the practical range, and as a result, the charge / discharge characteristics of the electric double layer capacitor itself are greatly deteriorated.
- the electric double layer capacitor is regarded as important as a power source suitable for applications such as memory backup in electronic devices such as mobile phones, notebook computers, video cameras, and digital cameras. Since these electronic devices are often used in a low temperature environment of less than zero degrees, the necessity of a non-aqueous electrolyte solution for an electric double layer capacitor that hardly causes an increase in resistance value in a storage element even in a low temperature environment of less than zero degrees is extremely high. high.
- An object of the present invention is to provide a non-aqueous electrolyte solution for an electric double layer capacitor that can suppress an increase in the resistance value of a storage element even in a low temperature environment of zero degrees or less.
- the present invention is a non-aqueous electrolyte solution in which an electrolyte salt is dissolved in a non-aqueous solvent, and the non-aqueous solvent includes a chain sulfone and a cyclic lactone compound. It is characterized by being a mixed solvent.
- the present invention by using a mixed solvent of a chain sulfone and a cyclic lactone compound as a non-aqueous solvent, it is possible to suppress a decrease in the resistance value of the storage element in a low temperature environment. In addition, the charge / discharge characteristics of the electric double layer capacitor itself can be prevented from greatly deteriorating.
