- the fan 40 is disposed on the upstream side of the battery 10 in the cooling air passage 30.
- the fan 40 circulates air inside the cooling air passage 30.
- the cooling device of the present embodiment includes both the battery 10 as the first heat generating device disposed in the cooling air passage 30 and the inverter 20 as the second heat generating device disposed in the hollow space 50.
- One fan 40 is used for efficient cooling.
- the wall portion 31 of the cooling air passage 30 that faces the hollow space 50 is formed with a communication portion 32 that connects the cooling air passage 30 and the hollow space 50.
- the inverter 20 is disposed to face the communication portion 32.
- the inverter 20 is arranged so that the heat radiating fins 22 formed in the inverter 20 face the communication portion 32.
- the communication portion 32 is formed in a rectangular slit shape.
- This air pressure difference causes an air flow from the hollow space 50 toward the cooling air passage 30 as in the air flow AF4 shown in FIG.
- the air flow AF4 flows along the heat radiation fins 22 of the inverter 20, takes heat from the heat radiation fins 22, and cools the inverter 20. Therefore, in the present embodiment, by generating an air flow in the cooling air passage 30 by the fan 40, the two heat generating devices of the battery 10 and the inverter 20 can be simultaneously cooled. Without providing a special mechanism in the hollow space 50, the inverter 20 arranged in the hollow space 50 can be cooled by natural air cooling, the cost of the cooling device can be reduced, and the cooling device can be downsized.
- the air heated by the heat generated by the inverter 20 flows into the cooling air passage 30 through the communication portion 32 as shown by the air flow AF5 and is sucked into the cooling air passage 30 side.
- the communication portion 32 serves as an intake port from the hollow space 50 to the cooling air passage 30.
- the air that has cooled the battery 10 and the air that has cooled the inverter 20 are both discharged from the cooling air passage 30 as shown in the air flow AF2.
- the communication part 32 is formed so as to communicate the cooling air passage 30 and the vicinity of the wall part 52 of the hollow space 50. Therefore, the air flow AF4 generated by the pressure difference between the cooling air passage 30 and the hollow space 50 flows along the wall 52.
- the airflow AF4 is heated by exchanging heat with the radiating fin 22.
- the air heated by the inverter 20 flows toward the communication portion 32 without being diffused, so that the cooling performance can be improved.
- the wall surface of the existing hollow space 50 as a duct, the flow direction of the air along the wall portion 52 is set, and it is not necessary to newly provide a duct for rectification, and the inverter 20 is efficiently cooled. Can do.
- the communication portion 32 that allows the cooling air passage 30 and the hollow space 50 to communicate with each other, the air flowing from the hollow space 50 to the cooling air passage 30 using the pressure difference between the cooling air passage 30 and the hollow space 50. Is generated and the convection of the air heated by the inverter 20 is promoted to improve the cooling capacity of the inverter 20.
- the cooling air passage 30 and the hollow space 50 can be arranged in any arrangement as long as the internal spaces communicate with each other via the communication portion 32. However, the inverter 20 can be arranged as much as possible. It is preferable to arrange them adjacent to each other so that the cooling capacity of the inverter 20 can be improved.
- the cooling air passage 30 above the hollow space 50, and in this way, the rise of the air warmed by the heat radiation of the inverter 20 is matched with the flow direction of the air toward the communicating portion 32. Can do. As a result, air can be convected more efficiently, and the cooling efficiency of the inverter 20 can be further increased.
- FIG. 4 is a schematic perspective view showing an example of the heat radiating fins 22 provided in the inverter 20.
- the heat dissipating fins 22 shown in FIG. 4 are pin fins 22A in which a large number of pin-shaped fins are arranged upright in two vertical and horizontal directions.
- a gap 24 is formed between the pin fins 22A along the direction in which the air flow AF4 flows (the vertical direction in the figure).
- the air heated by receiving heat radiation from the pin fins 22 ⁇ / b> A can flow toward the communicating portion 32 through the gap 24.
- the pin fins 22 ⁇ / b> A are arranged with a gap 24 so as not to hinder the flow of air flowing along the wall 52 to the communicating portion 32. Therefore, air convection after heat dissipation from the pin fins 22A is promoted, and the air cooling efficiency of the inverter 20 can be further improved.
- FIG. 5 is a schematic perspective view showing another example of the heat radiating fins 22 provided in the inverter 20.
- the radiating fins 22 shown in FIG. 5 are plate fins 22B in which plate-like fins are arranged in parallel.
- the plate fins 22 ⁇ / b> B are arranged vertically with respect to the wall portion 31 of the cooling air passage 30. Similar to the pin fins 22A shown in FIG. 4, a gap 24 is formed between the plate fins 22B along the direction in which the air flow AF4 flows (the vertical direction in the figure).
- the air heated by receiving heat radiation from the plate fins 22 ⁇ / b> B can flow toward the communicating portion 32 through the gap 24.
- the plate fins 22 ⁇ / b> B are arranged with a gap 24 so as not to hinder the flow of air flowing along the wall 52 to the communicating portion 32. Therefore, convection of air after heat radiation from the plate fins 22B is promoted, and the air cooling efficiency of the inverter 20 can be further improved.
- a gap 24 is formed in a direction parallel to the air flow toward the communication portion 32 between the heat radiation fins 22 that increase the heat radiation area of the inverter 20 and increase the cooling efficiency. That is, the radiation fins 22 are formed so that the gaps 24 extend in a direction perpendicular to the wall portion 31 of the cooling air passage 30 in which the communication portion 32 is formed. In this way, air heated by receiving heat from the heat radiating fins 22 can be efficiently flowed to the communicating portion 32 via the gap 24, and the low temperature in the hollow space 50 around the heat radiating fins 22. Therefore, the cooling performance of the inverter 20 by convection can be further improved.
- FIG. 6 is a schematic view showing the configuration of the cooling device of the second embodiment as viewed from the side.
- the cooling device of the second embodiment has substantially the same configuration as the cooling device of the first embodiment shown in FIG. However, the cooling device of the second embodiment is different from the first embodiment in the arrangement of the fans 40 in the cooling air passage 30.
- the battery 10 is arranged in a path from the fan 40 to the communication unit 32, and the battery 10 prevents a flow of air, thereby causing a pressure loss.
- the flow rate of the air flow AF3 is lower than that immediately after the fan 40.
- the fan 40 is disposed on the downstream side of the communication portion 32 in the cooling air passage 30. In this case, devices that generate pressure loss are not arranged in the internal space of the cooling air passage 30 extending from the communication portion 32 to the fan 40. Therefore, the flow velocity of the air flow AF3 in the communication part 32 can be increased as compared with the first embodiment.
- the pressure on the cooling air passage 30 side of the communication portion 32 decreases according to Bernoulli's theorem.
- the pressure of air flowing through the cooling air passage 30 is increased by the fan 40, the pressure of air on the upstream side of the fan 40 is relatively low. Therefore, the internal pressure of the cooling air passage 30 in the communication part 32 is further reduced.
- the internal pressure of the hollow space 50 is atmospheric pressure as in the first embodiment. As a result, the pressure difference between the cooling air passage 30 and the hollow space 50 increases.
- the flow velocity of the air flows AF4 and AF5 flowing from the hollow space 50 to the cooling air passage 30 can be increased, and the amount of intake air from the hollow space 50 to the cooling air passage 30 can be increased.
- the air convection in the radiating fins 22 can be further promoted. Therefore, the cooling capacity of the inverter 20 by the airflow AF4 can be increased, and the cooling performance of the inverter 20 can be improved.
- Embodiment 1 in which the cooling capacity of the battery 10 by the fan 40 can be maximized when the battery 10 disposed in the cooling air passage 30 is to be further cooled out of the two heat generating devices cooled by the cooling device.
- the configuration is preferable.
- the configuration of the second embodiment in which the pressure difference in the communication portion 32 is increased and the cooling capacity of the inverter 20 is increased is more preferable. It is done.
- the arrangement of the fan 40 is optimal in accordance with the arrangement of the heat generating devices that need to be cooled among the heat generating devices that are arranged in the cooling air passage 30 and the heat generating devices that are arranged in the hollow space 50. Can be determined.
- the heat generating device is not limited to these, and may be, for example, a DC-DC converter for an auxiliary machine, or may be another heat generating device mounted on the vehicle 100.
- the vehicle 100 on which the heat generating device is mounted is a hybrid vehicle in which an engine and a motor are mounted as a power source for vehicle propulsion
- the vehicle 100 is an electric energy such as an electric vehicle or a fuel cell vehicle.
- the vehicle may generate a vehicle driving force.
