- GTL Gas to Liquid
- a fuel tank 6 is connected via a fuel supply path 4 to a fuel injection valve (not shown) for injecting fuel into each cylinder of the internal combustion engine 2.
- the fuel tank 6 is supplied with mixed fuel and stored.
- the electrical characteristic detector 8 is a sensor that emits an output signal corresponding to the conductivity of the fuel flowing through the fuel supply path 4.
- the optical property detector 10 is a sensor that emits an output signal corresponding to the optical refractive index of the mixed fuel.

Furthermore, the optical property detector 10 has a space opened at least in part so that the fuel in the fuel supply path 4 circulates, and a reflector arranged with the space interposed therebetween. The reflector reflects the light emitted from the light emitting element and having passed through the fuel in the space toward the light receiving element. In the optical property detector 10, light emitted from the light emitting element is guided at a predetermined angle and irradiated to the mixed fuel in the space. Although many actuators and sensors are connected to the ECU 12, the description thereof is omitted in this specification.
- the light emitted from the light emitting element of the optical property detector 10 is refracted at different angles depending on the fuel density of the mixed fuel, and therefore is incident at different positions of the light receiving element. That is, when the side where the light refractive index of the mixed fuel is the smallest is taken as the reference position, the distance from the reference position has a correlation with the light refractive index. Therefore, the ECU 12 can detect the light refractive index of the mixed fuel by detecting the light receiving position of the center of gravity of the reflected light by the light receiving element.

In addition, these electrical characteristics change depending on the fuel concentration of the mixed fuel. Therefore, the relationship between the predetermined optical characteristics (light refractive index, light transmittance, etc.), the predetermined electrical characteristics (conductivity, capacitance, AC impedance, etc.) and the amount of metal impurities of the mixed fuel is determined in advance. If it is measured and stored in advance in the ECU 12 as a map or the like, the amount of metal impurities can be detected by detecting its optical characteristics and electrical characteristics.

- the light transmittance with respect to the light of the wavelength range B is detected, and according to this, the water concentration in the mixed fuel is detected based on the map.
- the fuel property detecting device is a metal depending on the light transmittance (light transmittance for light in the wavelength band B) for detecting the moisture concentration obtained as described above and the conductivity.
- the amount of impurities is detected.
- FIG. 7 is a map that defines the relationship among the light transmittance, the conductivity, and the amount of metal impurities with respect to light in the wavelength band B according to the second embodiment of the present invention.

Specifically, if the light transmittance is constant, the greater the conductivity, the greater the amount of metal impurities. On the other hand, even if the conductivity is constant, the greater the light transmittance, the greater the amount of metal impurities. Get smaller. That is, the light transmittance with respect to the wavelength band B, the conductivity, and the metal impurity amount have a certain correlation.
- the fuel property detecting device stores such a correlation measured in advance in the ECU 12 as a three-dimensional map or a correlation function as shown in FIG.
- a value corresponding to the light transmittance and conductivity is detected according to this map and the like.
- FIG. 8 is a flowchart for illustrating a control routine executed by the system in the third embodiment of the present invention.
- the routine shown in FIG. 8 is the same as the routine shown in FIG. 4 except that steps S210 and S212 are performed after step S104, and steps S216 to S220 are performed after the conductivity detection in step S214. .
- the transmittance for light in the wavelength band A is then detected (S210).
- the wavelength region A is a wavelength region that affects the light transmittance of ethanol.
- the transmittance for light in the wavelength band B is detected (S212).
- the wavelength region B is a wavelength region that particularly affects the light transmittance of moisture.
- the conductivity is detected (S214).
- the fuel component concentration is detected (S216). Specifically, the ethanol concentration in the mixed fuel is detected according to the light transmittance detected in step S210.

- the metal impurity amount is detected from the light transmittance with respect to the wavelength region B that affects the moisture concentration and the conductivity. Accordingly, even when a mixed fuel containing a fuel that easily mixes water such as alcohol is used as an engine fuel, the component concentration including the moisture concentration is detected more accurately, and the metal concentration is determined based on the influence of the concentration of the component. The amount of impurities can be detected. Thereby, the fuel property of the mixed fuel can be detected more accurately.
- the metal impurity amount may be detected according to the light transmittance and the electrical conductivity for each light in the wavelength band A and the wavelength band B. Only the fuel component concentration may be considered, and the amount of metal impurities may be detected according to the light transmittance and conductivity with respect to light in the wavelength region A. Even in such a case, the relationship between each light transmittance, conductivity, and the amount of metal impurities is determined in advance as a three-dimensional map or a correlation function, and metal impurities are detected according to the detected values.
