 室内の空気は、塵埃、煙草の煙、呼吸に伴って排出される二酸化炭素等のさまざまな物質で汚染されている。近年の住宅では気密性が高められて、このような汚染物質が室内に溜まりやすく、積極的に室内の空気の換気を行なう必要がある。ところが、大気汚染の比較的ひどい地域にある家屋やオフィス等では、窓を開けて換気することはかえって室内に汚れた空気を取り込むことになって好ましくない。また、大気汚染のひどくない地域の家屋等でも、季節によっては花粉を室内に取り込むことになって、この場合には、花粉症の人にとって好ましくない。
 そこで、窓を開けずに室内の空気を清浄化するために、床やテーブル等の上に設置する形式の空気清浄機が使用されている。室内の空気を浄化する手法としては、室内の空気を吸引してフィルタで塵埃等を捕集し、活性炭等で汚染物質を吸着する手法が一般的である。そのため、空気清浄機には次のような基本的な構造が採用される。
 すなわち、空気清浄機の本体内に送風機を有する送風通路が設けられ、その送風通路の入口に吸込口が配設される一方、送風通路の出口に吹出口が配設される。そして、送風通路の途中に集塵フィルタと脱臭フィルタとがそれぞれ配設され、塵埃や不快な臭い等が除去される。さらに、送風通路の途中にイオン発生器が配設され、そのイオン発生器で発生したイオンが清浄な空気とともに室内に放出される。室内に浮遊するカビ菌等は、放出されたイオンによって取囲まれて不活性化される。こうして、空気清浄機によって室内の空気が浄化される(例えば、特許文献1参照)。
 一方で機器の静音化が進み、空気清浄機においても吸込口に関して様々の構造のものが存在する。特許文献1に示す機器は、空気の吸込口を機器の前面に設けた前面吸い込み型であるが、一般的な使用法として、空気清浄機は壁際床面上に設置されるとともに使用者は部屋の中央側に存在するため、使用者が感じる送風機の吸込み音を低減するために空気の吸込口を機器背面に設けた背面吸い込み型の機器も販売されている(例えば、特許文献2参照)。

 上記従来技術において、前面吸込み型の機器では、室内の汚れた空気は機器前面の下側部分の空気も含めて良好に吸い込まれるが、送風機の吸込み音が使用者の耳に直接入るため、運転に伴う騒音レベルが大きく感じられる。これに対し、背面吸込み型の機器では、静粛性は有するものの、機器前面の下側部分の空気は吸い込まれにくく、周囲に室内の汚れた空気の滞留領域が発生する。
 本発明は、上述したような事情に鑑みてなされたものであり、騒音レベルの上昇を抑制し、前面下部側から後方への良好な気流形成を実現し、滞留空気の発生を防止することができる空気調節機を提供することを目的とする。
 本発明に係る空気調節機は、ハウジングに、吸込口と、該吸込口から内部に空気を吸い込む送風機と、該送風機が吸い込んだ空気の状態を調節する調節部と、該調節部で調節された空気を外部に吹き出す吹出口とを備えた空気調節機において、前記吸込口は前記ハウジングの背面又は横側面に設けてあり、前記ハウジングは、底面と設置面との間に空気が通流可能であり、前面側の上下幅が背面側の上下幅より狭い間隙を形成する脚部を備えていることを特徴とする。
 本発明においては、背面又は横側面に吸込口を備えたハウジングが脚部に支持され、ハウジングの底面と設置面との間に、前面側の上下幅が背面側の上下幅より狭く、空気が通流可能な間隙が形成される。送風機が作動してハウジングの背面又は横側面の吸込口から内部に空気が吸い込まれ、吸込口に向かう気流が発生すると、ハウジングの前面下部の空気が底面と設置面との間の間隙を通流して背面又は横側面へ流れ、周囲から回り込んだ空気と共に背面又は横側面の吸込口から内部に吸い込まれる。内部に吸い込まれた空気は調節部によって状態が調節された後、吹出口から外部に吹き出される。以後、このような空気の吸い込み及び吹き出しを繰り返す。
 本発明に係る空気調節機は、前記ハウジングは、前面の下端部又は底面の前端部の少なくとも一方が傾斜面又は曲面をなして他方に連なっていることを特徴とする。
 本発明においては、ハウジングの前面の空気が、ハウジングの前面の下端部と底面の前端部との連なり部分がなす傾斜面又は曲面に沿って流れ、スムーズにハウジングの底面と設置面との間の間隙に流入する。
 本発明に係る空気調節機は、前記脚部は、前記ハウジングの底面の少なくとも3箇所に設けてある複数の脚であることを特徴とする。
 本発明においては、ハウジングの底面の少なくとも3箇所に設けた複数の脚によってハウジングの底面と設置面との間に間隙が形成され、ハウジングの前面下部の空気は各脚部の間を通って後方へ流れる。
 本発明に係る空気調節機は、前記脚部は、前記ハウジングの底面の周縁に沿って環状をなして下向きに設けられ、前面と背面又は前面と横側面とに夫々開口を形成した壁体であることを特徴とする。
 本発明においては、ハウジングの底面の周縁に沿って環状をなして下向きに設けた壁体によってハウジングの底面と設置面との間に間隙が形成され、ハウジングの前面下部の空気は壁体の前面と背面とに形成した両開口又は壁体の前面と横側面とに形成した両開口を通って後方へ流れる。
 本発明によれば、ハウジングの前面下部の空気が底面と設置面との間の間隙を通流して後方へ流れ、背面又は横側面に設けた吸込口から吸い込まれるので、前面吸い込み型のような騒音レベルの上昇を抑制しつつ、前面下部側から後方への良好な気流形成を実現し、滞留空気の発生を防止することができる空気調節機が提供される。
 また、本発明によれば、ハウジングの底面と設置面との間の間隙の前面側の上下幅が背面側の上下幅より狭いので、前面側の狭い間隙がノズルのように働いて流速が上がるため床面上の埃等に対する吸込み力が大きくなるとともに、ハウジングの底面に備えた脚部が前面側から見えにくく、美観を向上させることもできる空気調節機が提供される。

 以下、本発明に係る空気調節機の実施の形態について、空気清浄機を例に図面に基づいて説明する。
(実施の形態1)
 図1は本発明の実施の形態1に係る空気清浄機の前面側の斜視図、図2は図1に示す空気清浄機の背面側の斜視図、図3は図1に示す空気清浄機の内部構造を示す縦断面図、図4は図1に示す空気清浄機の脚部付近の拡大断面図である。図3において左側が前面側、右側が背面側である。
 空気清浄機10は、ハウジング1を有し、ハウジング1内に、送風機31、ダクト26、フィルタ18、イオン発生装置40,46等を収容している。
 ハウジング1は、縦長の略直方体形状をなし、後壁1a、天壁1b、底壁1c、前壁1d及び側壁1eを有する。底壁1cは、平面視で略矩形状をなし、空気清浄機10が床に設置された場合に床面(設置面)と対向するハウジング1の底面部となる。天壁1bは、平面視で底壁1cと同一形状をなし、後側部分が下方に傾斜している。後壁1aと前壁1dとは略平行に対向配置され、後壁1aはハウジング1の背面部となり、前壁1dはハウジング1の前面部となる。側壁1eはハウジング1の横側面部となる。尚、一般的に、空気清浄機10は、後壁1aを室内の壁に対向させて壁際に設置される。
 ケーシング1の前壁1dの下端部1d1は床面との距離h3の位置から後方側へ折曲して傾斜面をなし、前側が低くなるように傾斜した底壁1cの前端部に連なっている。ハウジング1の後壁1aには、室内の空気を吸い込むための複数の吸込口16が形成されている。各吸込口16は、長手方向が上下方向に沿った矩形状をなし、上下及び横方向に間隔を置いて2次元的に配列されている。
 ハウジング1の天壁1bには、清浄空気を室内に向けて吹き出す吹出口14が形成されている。本実施の形態では、吹出口14は、後壁1aと前壁1dとが対向する方向に短手方向が沿った略長円形状の開口から形成されている。尚、吹出口14の開口形状は、上記長円形状に限られず、例えば、矩形であってもよく、あるいは、複数のスリットが並んだ形状であってもよい。また、吹出口14を形成する位置は、天壁1bに限られず、例えば前壁1dであってもよい。
 フィルタ18は、HEPA(High Efficiency Particulate Air )フィルタであり、ハウジング1の内部に、吸込口16と向い合って配置されている。吸込口16を通じてハウジング1内部に導入された空気は、フィルタ18を通過することによって、異物が除去され、清浄空気とされる。
 送風機31は、室内の空気をハウジング1内部に吸引するとともに、フィルタ18により清浄された空気を、吹出口14を通じて室内に送り出すために設けられている。以下、その構造について詳細に説明する。
 送風機31は、回転軸が前後方向に沿い、円筒形状をなす羽根車36と、羽根車36を回転自在に収容するケーシング32とを有する遠心形ファン(シロッコファン)である。羽根車36は、フィルタ18の前方側に配置されている。羽根車36は、外縁に対して回転中心側が回転方向に変位した複数の羽根36fを有する多翼羽根車である。羽根車36は回転軸方向の一端に軸受板を有し、軸受板の中心に開設されている軸孔に、ファン駆動用のモータ28の出力軸が取り付けられている。モータ28の駆動に伴って、羽根車36は、回転軸方向の他端の開口から中心側の空洞部に空気を吸い込み、その空気を外周部の羽根36fの間から放出するように構成されている。
 ケーシング32は、円弧形の誘導壁32aと、誘導壁32aの一部から誘導壁32aの接線方向の一方に突出し、上向きに開放された角筒形状の吹き出し部32bとを有している。誘導壁32aは、羽根車36の回転により発生する気流を羽根車36の回転方向に誘導しつつ、気流の速度を増大させる。
 ケーシング32は、深皿形状のケーシング本体33と、ケーシング本体33の開放側を閉塞する蓋板34とが組み合わさって構成されている。ケーシング本体33は、誘導壁32a及び吹き出し部32b用の開放部を形成する。蓋板34は、複数本の雄螺子を用いてケーシング本体33に取り付けられている。
 ダクト26は、送風機31の上方に設けられて上端が開放された角筒形状をなし、上端で吹出口14に連なり、下端で送風機31の吹き出し部32bに連なっている。ダクト26は、ハウジング1の前壁1dと対向し、背面側に傾斜した前壁26aを有する。ダクト26は、ケーシング本体33及び蓋板34と一体に成形されている。ダクト26は、吹き出し部32bから吹き出された清浄空気を吹出口14に導く導風路として機能する。
 本実施の形態では、ケーシング32の誘導壁32aに、1つ目のイオン発生装置40が取り付けられ、ダクト26の前壁26aに、2つ目のイオン発生装置46が取り付けられている。イオン発生装置40,46は、イオン発生器41を備え、プラスイオン及びマイナスイオンを発生させる。
 ケーシング1の底壁1cに脚部を設け、床面との間に空気が通流する間隙を形成している。具体的には、底壁1cの四隅に取り付ける4つの脚のうち、前側の脚50の長さを後側の脚51の長さより短く設定している。これにより、底壁1cの前端と床面との間隙h1を底壁1cの後端と床面との間隙h2よりも狭くしてある。
 次に、空気清浄機10の動作について説明する。図5A及び図5Bは本発明の空気清浄機の運転時の気流を示す図、図6A及び図6Bは参考例の空気清浄機の運転時の気流を示す図である。尚、参考例の空気清浄機では、床面への設置時にケーシングの底面と床面との間に空気が通流する間隙が形成されない。図5A、図6Aは平面図、図5B、図6Bは側面図である。
 送風機31の駆動により、羽根車36が回転し、室内の空気を吸込口16からハウジング1内に吸い込む空気の流れが発生する。ハウジング1内に吸い込まれた空気に含まれる塵埃等の異物は、フィルタ18により除去される。フィルタ18を通過した清浄空気は、ケーシング32内部に吸い込まれ、羽根車36周りの誘導壁32aによって層流となる。層流とされた空気は、誘導壁32aに沿って吹き出し部32bに誘導され、吹き出し部32bからダクト26内に送風される。
 誘導壁32aに設けられているイオン発生装置40が、誘導壁32aに沿って通流する清浄空気中にプラスイオン及びマイナスイオンを発生させ、また、ダクト26の前壁26aに設けられているイオン発生装置46が、ダクト26中を流れる清浄空気中にプラスイオン及びマイナスイオンを発生させ、清浄空気中のプラスイオン及びマイナスイオンの量を増大させる。イオン発生装置40,46により発生したプラスイオン及びマイナスイオンは、清浄空気とともに吹出口14から外部空間に向けて放出される。このとき、吹出口14から外部への空気の流れが発生する。
 ここで、通常、室内の空気は床面から30cm程度から下は滞留域といわれてほとんど移動しない。床置き式の空気清浄機を設置した場合には、送風によって強制的に気流が形成され空気が循環するが、それでも床面のごく近傍数cm以内にある空気は床面との摩擦によって移動しにくい。このような条件下では先ず吸込口16近傍の空気が吸引されて極わずかではあるが、周囲に対して負圧になり、この負圧が駆動力となって周辺空気を吸込口16に向けて移動させる。
 しかし、運転開始直後は、前述のように床面極近傍の領域に含まれる埃や花粉などは移動しない。運転開始後に空気清浄機10の吸気及び送風によって室内に循環気流が形成された時点で床面近くの埃や花粉が空気清浄機10に向けて移動を始め、周辺の気流に合流されて吸込口16まで到達する。背面吸い込み型においては、背面側の壁と機器の間の空間が負圧になり、周囲の空気がこの空間に流れてくることになる。この場合、本発明の空気清浄機10では、側面を回り込む気流の他に、前面下部側に淀んでいる滞留空気が底壁1cと床面との間隙を通流する気流によって背面側に移動し、淀みが解消され易い。一方、参考例の空気清浄機100では、側面を回り込む気流しか存在しないので、前面下部側に淀んでいる滞留空気の淀みが解消され難い。
 本発明の空気清浄機10では、図4に示すように、ハウジング1の後壁1aと底壁1cとが交差する位置から背面側の吸込口16の下端までの距離Lが短いほどハウジング1の背面側の負圧の影響が底壁1cと床面との間隙を通流する気流に対して及び、床面からの吸い込み気流が流れ易くなる。また底壁1cと床面との間隙h1、h2が大きいほど底壁1cと床面との間隙を通流する気流が流れ易くなる。
 一方で前面側の底壁1cと床面との間隙h1が余り大きいと前側の脚50が長くなり、外観上の安定感や美しさが損なわれるので、本発明の空気清浄機10では、前面側の間隙h1は小さく抑えながらも、背面側の間隙h2は大きく取ることで、見た目の不安定さを無くし美観を保つと共に吸気効率を高くすることが可能である。また、前面側の床面との間隙h1に至る前壁1dの下端部1d1を傾斜面を形成しながら底壁1cに連なるように構成したので、空気清浄機10の前面下部側から底面と床面との間隙に吸い込まれる空気に対する通流抵抗が小さくなり、空気がスムーズに流れ、滞留空気の淀みが解消され易くなる。さらに前面側の狭い間隙h1がノズルのように働き流速が上がるため床面上の埃等を吸い込む吸込み力が大きくなり、埃が付着しにくい効果もある。前壁1dの下端部1d1が底壁1cに向かって折れ曲がる稜線と床面との高さh3は滞留空気の上限高さよりも高い方が淀み解消のためには好ましいが、美観が優先される場合もあり、約10cm程度を上限とすることが好ましい。
 上記の実施の形態1では、ハウジング1の底面(底壁1c)の四隅に4つの脚50,51を設けたが、これに限るものではない。例えば、前側の左右に2つの脚を設け、後側の中央に1つの脚を設ける如く、少なくとも3箇所に脚を設けるようにしてもよい。
(実施の形態2)
 図7は本発明の実施の形態2に係る空気清浄機の前面側の斜視図、図8は図7に示す空気清浄機の背面側の斜視図、図9は図7に示す空気清浄機の内部構造を示す縦断面図である。実施の形態2では、脚部の構造のみが実施の形態1と異なる。
 実施の形態2の脚部は、ハウジング1の底壁1cと一体に形成された壁体52である。壁体52は底壁1cの周縁に沿って矩形環状をなして下向きに設けてあり、下側に突出した壁体52の先端で床面に設置される。壁体52には前面側と背面側との互いに対向する各壁部分52a,52bに、空気が流通する開口50cを設けている。実施の形態1と同様に、ケーシング1の底壁1cの前端側と床面との間隙h1が背面側の間隙h2よりも狭くなるように前面側の壁部分52aの高さを後側の壁部分52bの高さより低くし、また前面側の壁部分52aの開口50cの上下幅を背面側の壁部分52bの開口52cの上下幅高さよりも短く設定している。
 上記の実施の形態では、空気の吸込口16をハウジング1の背面(後壁1a)に設けたが、これに限るものではなく、ハウジング1の横側面(側壁1e)に設けてもよい。尚、実施の形態2において空気の吸込口をハウジング1の横側面(側壁1e)に設ける場合は、壁体52の前面及び横側面の各壁部分に、空気が流通する開口を設ける。
 上記の実施の形態では、ケーシング1の前壁1dの下端部1d1を傾斜面として底壁1cの前端に連なるように形成したが、前壁1dの下端部1d1を傾斜面ではなく外側に凸の曲面として底壁1cの前端に連なるように形成してもよい。また、前壁1dの下端部ではなく、底壁1cの前端部を傾斜面又は曲面として前壁1dの下端に連なるように形成してもよく、あるいは、前壁1dの下端部及び底壁1cの前端部の両方を傾斜面又は曲面として両者が連なるように形成してもよい。これらのいずれの場合においても、上記の実施の形態と同様に、通流抵抗の低下効果が得られる。
 上記の実施の形態では、本発明に係る空気調節機として空気清浄機の例を説明したが、これ以外に、床やテーブル等の上に設置される加湿機、エアコン等の各種の空気調節機に本発明を適用することが可能である。特に、空気の吸い込み音の静粛性を確保するために、空気の吸込口が使用者に対向しない箇所(ケーシングの背面や側面)に設けられる全ての空気調節機に好適に実施することができる。

Claims (4)

  1.  ハウジングに、吸込口と、該吸込口から内部に空気を吸い込む送風機と、該送風機が吸い込んだ空気の状態を調節する調節部と、該調節部で調節された空気を外部に吹き出す吹出口とを備えた空気調節機において、
     前記吸込口は前記ハウジングの背面又は横側面に設けてあり、
     前記ハウジングは、底面と設置面との間に空気が通流可能であり、前面側の上下幅が背面側の上下幅より狭い間隙を形成する脚部を備えていることを特徴とする空気調節機。
  2.  前記ハウジングは、前面の下端部又は底面の前端部の少なくとも一方が傾斜面又は曲面をなして他方に連なっていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の空気調節機。
  3.  前記脚部は、前記ハウジングの底面の少なくとも3箇所に設けてある複数の脚であることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の空気調節機。
  4.  前記脚部は、前記ハウジングの底面の周縁に沿って環状をなして下向きに設けられ、前面と背面又は前面と横側面とに夫々開口を形成した壁体であることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の空気調節機。
