- other battery cells and graphite sheets may be used.
- the temperature sensor 336 generates a first signal regarding the temperature of the battery module 320, which is received by the microprocessor 340.
- the battery module 320 includes a battery cell, first and second graphite sheets, and first and second cooling manifolds.
- the first and second graphite sheets are located on the first and second surfaces of the battery cell, respectively.
- the first and second cooling manifolds are coupled with the first and second graphite sheets, respectively.
- the microprocessor 340 causes the pump 322 to cool the first and second cooling of the battery module 320 in the reservoir 326. Generate a second signal to pump the coolant towards the manifold.
- the microprocessor 340 When a first signal is generated in step 363 in which the temperature of the battery module 320 is greater than the threshold temperature, the microprocessor 340 causes the fan 337 to draw air from the heat exchanger 324 to cool the heat exchanger 324. Generate a third signal to flow through.
- the heat exchanger 324 is fluidly connected to the first and second cooling manifolds of the battery module 320.
- step 364 when a first signal is generated in which the temperature of the battery module 320 is greater than the threshold temperature, the microprocessor 340 causes the cooling system 338 to open the cooling plate 325 through a portion of the cooling plate 325. A fourth signal is generated to pump the coolant to cool.
- the cooling plate 325 is fluidly connected with the heat exchanger 324.
- step 366 the first and second graphite sheets transfer thermal energy from the battery cells to the first and second graphite sheets, respectively, to cool the battery cells.
- the first and second cooling manifolds transfer thermal energy from the first and second graphite sheets to the first and second cooling manifolds, respectively, and to the coolant flowing along the first and cooling manifolds. It may also convey.
- the heat exchanger 324 receives the cooling water of the first and second cooling manifolds of the battery module 320 and deprives heat energy of the cooling water flowing therethrough.
- step 371 the cold plate 325 receives coolant from the heat exchanger 324 and deprives heat energy from the coolant flowing along the cold plate.
- reservoir 326 receives coolant from cold plate 325, and the coolant is pumped back into reservoir 326.
- Cooling manifolds and their manufacturing methods offer significant advantages over other devices or methods.
- the cooling manifold utilizes an extruded housing having a spiral flow path to effectively remove thermal energy from the thermally conductive member coupled to the cooling manifold.
