  • Cycles are the most commonly used conveyance mode all over the world, more particularly in the developing country like India.
  • the cycle is very commonly used in the villages where the automotive vehicles are not a regular mode of travel. Considering the pollution and the fuel crisis, a movement is gathering momentum to promote use of cycles as a mode of transport at least for short distance travels. More and more developments are taking place in the convention cycles to make the cycling experience more comfortable.
  • a conventional cycle comprises a preferably triangular frame, at both ends of which are fixed two wheels with rims mounted on hubs using ball bearings, a handle at one end, a pedaling device with toothed wheels of different diameters for propelling the cycle, generally the larger of such wheel fixed to the paddles, and the smaller to the rear wheel, both these toothed wheels are connected to each other by a chain whose groves fit in the teeth of these two toothed wheels.
  • Bicycle preferably mentioned as cycle is an important mode of transport as well as exercise and is being used world-wide, extensively and has the advantages mentioned below: -
  • the cycle has very low cost of purchase. Hence it is the vehicle preferred for the most common person.
  • Cycle has very few moving parts and hence it requires minimal maintenance. Also it can be repaired easily either in home or at easily available repairing shops.
  • the cycle is one of the most eco-friendly modes of transport as it is driven by human being and no carbon fuel is required to drive it.
