Definitions
- the invention relates to a curtain applicator for coating a running paper, cardboard or other fibrous web having at least one liquid to pasty application medium
- a curtain applicator for coating a running paper, cardboard or other fibrous web having at least one liquid to pasty application medium comprising a disposed above the fibrous web curtain applicator head whose width is at least equal to the width of the fibrous web and at least one application medium chamber with each a feed gap branching from the application medium chamber, which merges into an exit slit nozzle for the respective application medium to be dispensed and the curtain applicator head has on its surface a sliding surface extending from the at least one exit slit nozzle or from the uppermost exit slit nozzle to a spoiler edge; from the respective application medium in the form of a single- or multi-layer curtain essentially following gravity falls on the fibrous web and there generates a single- or multi-layer coating layer, as well as isend an adjustable catcher, in particular drip tray for collecting the single or multilayer curtain in a start
- a generic device is known for example from WO 03/049871.
- an application head is disclosed, with which a plurality of application media or multiple layers of a coating medium can be dispensed.
- This embodiment of a curtain applicator is known inter alia also from EP-AI - 1 255 615 and is referred to in professional circles as "Slide Die", ie Gleit harshdüse.
- This so-called Gleit harshdüse which is also referred to as a cascade nozzle, contains at least one, but also up to eleven application medium chambers from which the medium passes via a feed gap, which in turn merges into a slot-shaped outlet nozzle on a sliding surface of the Gleit Mrsdüse.
- the application medium emerging from the discharge nozzles or discharge slots arranged in parallel one behind the other is laid one above the other on the sliding surface provided on the surface of the discharge head.
- this film layer or multilayer film dissolves and falls as single or multilayer curtain down either initially on an intermediate guide plate or directly on the substrate to be coated or the surface of the moving fibrous web.
- a collecting device for the already or still falling curtain or the flowing application medium is necessary so that the fibrous web and the environment is not contaminated with these order media parts.
- This trained as a trough or gutter applicator is adjustable and requires this drive means.
- this catcher is shifted so that the curtain can then freely reach the fibrous web.
- the two curtain edges are each fixed by special side guides. In so-called “inboard” mode (the curtain is narrower than the web width), the distance between the two side guides is also smaller than the width of the fibrous web. The required trough for starting and stopping or interrupting the coating process must therefore be even narrower than the said distance between the edge guides. In “overboard” driving (where the curtain is dispensed beyond the web edges), the distance between the edge guides or side guides is greater than the web width.
- the start-stop process by means of catcher is particularly difficult in inboard-style, because the pan used as a catcher must be guided between the edge guide elements.
- a change in the other driving style ie of inboard in overboard driving style
- a disadvantage in the coating phase is an often occurring so-called "teapot effect". This leads to the deflection of the curtain from the vertical, which emanates from the tear-off edge. This deflection of the curtain is disadvantageous because the line of impact of the curtain on the fibrous web geometric can not be defined.
- a curtain coater which, in order to avoid these problems, its, arranged on a frame applicator head rotated about an axis and thus the impact position of the curtain for the Be Mrsungsbetheb or the start-stop phase or for the Intercepted. This is very complex, especially because the entire gun must be realigned again after each adjustment.
- the curtain application head has a movable lip which, in the direction of flow of the application medium emerging from the at least one exit slit nozzle, is arranged downstream of at least one exit slit nozzle and forms a partial region of the sliding surface up to the spoiler edge.
- This sub-area is flush or continuous to the rest of the sliding surface of the curtain applicator head, the lip or the portion of the sliding surface over the entire width of the job head is sufficient and is adjustable so that the falling of the spoiler edge curtain either in one Operating position on the fibrous web to be coated or in a start-stop position on the drip tray is directable.
- An expedient variant of the design of the adjustable lip may consist in that the lip consists of a rotationally symmetrical body and an end branching off in the tangential direction. Both parts, so body and tail are preferably integrally connected to each other smooth. The outer surface of the rotationally symmetrical body and the end piece up to the spoiler lip - A -
- the part of the sliding surface forming rotationally symmetrical body is precisely received rotatably in a bore of the curtain applicator head and this body including the tail in or counterclockwise in an angular range of at least 110 ° adjustable, or rotatable, depending on which position the trailing edge and thus which impact position the curtain should occupy.
- the bore and also the rotationally symmetrical body are manufactured with high precision for a perfect functioning.
- This version allows a particularly sensitive adjustment of the lip.
- the lip may also be formed like a strip according to another embodiment. In this case, it is received in a rectangular recess of the curtain head and arranged therein extendable and extendable. Depending on whether and how far the extension of the lip occurs, either the setting of the impact point of the curtain for a coating of the fibrous web or a catching of the curtain in the start or stop phase is achieved.
- the adjustment of the lip can be done in various ways, preferably motor.
- the impact point of the curtain is easily adjustable, whereby the distance between the delivered single-layered or multi-layered curtain and an upstream air boundary layer removal device can be adjusted and optimized
