Definitions
- the present invention relates to a video display device that corrects colors within an arbitrary partial color range in a color reproduction range of an input video signal on the basis of each of luminance, saturation, and hue.
- Conventional general video display devices can display video in the color reproduction range (hereinafter referred to as the standard color reproduction range) of the sRGB (standard RGB) standard, which is the international standard of the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission).
- a display (hereinafter referred to as a standard color gamut display) is provided.
- recent video display devices particularly liquid crystal display devices, have been improved in image quality, and there is a tendency that the range in which colors can be expressed is larger than in the past.
- a liquid crystal display device including a backlight using an LED having a high emission color purity as a light source and a liquid crystal panel (an example of a display) illuminated by the backlight receives a video signal compliant with the sRGB standard.
- the video signal when the video signal is directly displayed using the video signal, the video is displayed with a color in a color reproduction range (hereinafter referred to as an extended color reproduction range) wider than the color reproduction range of the sRGB standard.
- a display hereinafter referred to as a wide color gamut display
- FIG. 10 shows a color reproduction range CS1 that can be displayed by the standard color gamut display and a color reproduction range CS2 that can be displayed by the wide color gamut display when performing video display based on a video signal that conforms to the sRGB standard. It is the figure represented on the 'v' chromaticity diagram.
- the positions of the three vertices P1r, P1g, and P1b in the color reproduction range CS1 of the standard color gamut display are positions that represent red, green, and blue with the highest saturation in the color reproduction range CS1, respectively.
- the positions of the three vertices P2r, P2g, and P2b in the color reproduction range CS2 of the wide color gamut display are positions representing red, green, and blue with the highest saturation in the color reproduction range CS2, respectively.
- the wide color gamut display has a color reproduction range CS2 wider than the color reproduction range CS1 of the standard color gamut display, and can display colors with higher saturation.
- FIG. 10 shows a straight line representing the color range of the same hue from the achromatic color with the lowest saturation (position of the point Pw) to the red with the highest saturation (position of the point P1r) in the standard color reproduction range CS1.
- L1r red equi-hue line
- FIG. 10 shows the color range of the same hue from the lowest saturation achromatic color (position of the point Pw) to the highest saturation red (position of the point P2r) in the extended color reproduction range CS2.
- a straight line L2r (red equi-hue line) is indicated by a thick broken line.
- the red visual constant hue line L0r has a slightly curved shape in a direction in which the yellow hue side is convex.
- the red equi-hue line L1r in the standard color reproduction range CS1 is linear, but closely approximates the red visual equi-hue line L0r. For this reason, when the standard color gamut display displays an image based on the video signal compliant with the sRGB standard, the red-based image is changed from an achromatic color (position of the point Pw) to a color having the highest saturation (at the point P1r). The image is reproduced with colors of almost the same hue up to (position).
- the standard color gamut display has a narrow color reproduction range CS1
- the vividness when displaying a highly saturated red color is insufficient.
- the highest saturation red (position P2r) closely approximates the visual red with high saturation. Therefore, when the video display based on the video signal conforming to the sRGB standard is performed by the wide color gamut display, the original color represented by the video signal is reproduced very vividly for red having a very high saturation. It becomes a picture.
- the visual hue of the intermediate saturation red is larger than that of the maximum saturation red.
- the color shifts to a magenta color.
- color misregistration may occur such that the color that should be skin tone is displayed in reddish color, or the color that should be reddish is displayed in magenta color. Therefore, there is a need to correct color misregistration for such a partial range of colors.
- the advantages of the wide color gamut display cannot be utilized. Further, when performing color adjustment (correction of the signal value of the video signal) in order to eliminate the color misregistration in a part of the color area or to correct a color in an arbitrary part of the color area to a desired color, It is desirable that the color adjustment can be performed with a high degree of freedom and that the parameter setting for the color adjustment is simple. Accordingly, the present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and its object is to eliminate color misregistration in some color areas in the color reproduction range, or any part of color areas. It is an object of the present invention to provide a video display device that enables color adjustment for correcting the color of the color to a desired color and that allows simple parameter setting for such color adjustment.
- a video display device corrects a signal value of an input video signal and displays a video based on the corrected video signal on a display.
- Each component shown in (3) is provided.
- Designated color area setting means for setting designated ranges for luminance, saturation, and hue.
- Reference correction coefficient setting means for setting reference correction coefficients for each of luminance, saturation, and hue.
- the color represented by the signal value is the center position in the designated color area or the If the color of the core is a position that occupies a predetermined range centering on the center position, the luminance, saturation, and hue of the color are corrected by a correction amount according to the reference correction coefficient, and in other cases, the signal Signal correction means for correcting each of the luminance, saturation, and hue of the color of the signal value by a correction amount that decreases as the position of the color represented by the value in the color space approaches the boundary position of the specified color region.
- the display When the input video signal is a video signal compliant with the sRGB standard and the video signal compliant with the sRGB standard is input, the display has a wide color reproduction range that is wider than the color reproduction range of the sRGB standard. It can be a color gamut display. As a typical example of the wide color gamut display, a liquid crystal panel illuminated by a backlight having LEDs as light sources can be considered.
- the video display device performs color adjustment (correction of the signal value of the input video signal) for a part of the color area (the specified color area) specified in the color reproduction range of the input video signal. Therefore, according to the video display device of the present invention, when the input video signal is used as it is, when the color misregistration occurs in a part of the color reproduction range, the color misregistration can be eliminated.
- the content of the input video signal can be used as it is to display a video.
- the video display device is not limited to eliminating color misregistration, and is also suitable for performing color adjustment for correcting colors in an arbitrary partial color region to a desired color.
- the input video signal is a video signal compliant with the sRGB standard and the display is a wide color gamut display
- the three primary colors (R, G, B) with high saturation are vividly high in saturation.
- the signal value representing the color inside the designated color area is corrected by a correction amount corresponding to the set reference correction coefficient for the color signal value of the core (center) in the designated color area.
- the other color signal values are corrected by a correction amount that becomes smaller as the color is closer to the color at the boundary position of the designated color region.
- the core unit has a predetermined range centered on the center position of the designated color area. Any position that occupies can be used.
- the designated color region and the color correction coefficient that are color adjustment parameters are designated (set) individually for three independent parameters that specify the color, namely, luminance, saturation, and hue. Done. Therefore, it is not necessary to consider the mutual interference of each parameter, and the color adjustment parameters can be easily set.
- the designated color area setting means may specify the center value of each luminance, saturation, and hue in the designated color area according to the operation input, and the designated value of each brightness, saturation, and hue width based on the center value. It is conceivable to set designated ranges for the luminance, saturation, and hue by setting. As a result, the user can directly specify (input) the center position of the designated color region, which is a reference for color adjustment (signal value correction), and the correction coefficient (the reference correction coefficient) for the color at the center position. Therefore, it is easy to grasp the relationship between the set value (specified value) and the color adjustment result.
- the designated color area setting means sets the designated values of the brightness, saturation, and hue width by selecting from a plurality of predetermined value candidates according to an operation input. Can be considered. This makes it easier to set (specify) the color adjustment parameters, although the degree of freedom of color adjustment is somewhat sacrificed.
- the core portion is a portion that occupies a range of a preset ratio with respect to the designated color area centered on a center position in the designated color area.
- the parameter for designating the size of the core part when it is desired to link the size of the core part to the size of the designated color area, each time the setting of the designated color area is changed, the parameter for designating the size of the core part accordingly. This makes it easier to set (specify) color adjustment parameters.
- the video display device according to the present invention further includes the constituent elements shown in the following (4).
- a center position in the specified color area is set as the core part, or a part occupying a range of a preset ratio with respect to the specified color area centered on the center position in the specified color area is set as the core part.
- core unit selection means for selecting either of them according to an operation input. This is preferable because the degree of freedom in color adjustment can be further increased without much labor for setting the color adjustment parameter.
- the signal correcting means performs the processing shown in the following (4-1).
- the signal correction means includes a region in which the value of the saturation in the color space is negative when the signal value of the input video signal corrected to the inside of the specified color region includes
- the saturation correction value is calculated so that the saturation value including the core portion is limited to the range of the region where the saturation value is zero or more and becomes closer to the boundary position.
- An area in which the saturation component in the color space is negative when the designated color area is set by the designated color area setting means when the saturation component value included in the signal value of the input video signal to be corrected is small May be included.
- the lower limit value of the saturation component value of the input video signal that is actually corrected is zero.
- the boundary position is limited to a range where the lower limit value of the saturation component value included in the signal value of the input video signal is 0 or more inside the designated color region set by the designated color region setting means.
- the correction amount of saturation that becomes smaller as it approaches is calculated more accurately than when calculating including the region where the saturation component is negative can do.
- the video display device according to the present invention further includes the constituent elements shown in the following (5).
- the specified correction amount is set to a predetermined value that is the same as or different from the reference correction coefficient for each of the luminance, saturation, and hue as the correction amount, and becomes smaller as the boundary position of each of the luminance, saturation, and hue becomes closer.
- Uniform correction can be made for each of the luminance, saturation and hue of the input video signal in the color region. For this reason, it is possible to reduce hardware resources used for calculating the correction amount that becomes smaller as the boundary positions of luminance, saturation, and hue are closer, and to reduce calculation time.
- the signal correcting means performs the processing shown in the following (4-2).
- the signal correction means includes the position of the origin in the color space serving as a reference for correcting the signal value of the input video signal inside the designated color area, a value representing the origin is set to a predetermined value. After the second value is added, each of the luminance, saturation, and hue of the color of the signal is corrected, and after the correction, the predetermined second value is subtracted from the value representing the signal.
- the signal value of the input video signal is corrected by adding a predetermined value to the signal value and adding information on saturation and hue components to the signal value. can do.
- a predetermined value is subtracted from the signal value of the input video signal after correction to remove information raised for correction.
- the signal value can be corrected by the signal correction means.
- the origin represents a value representing saturation and hue included in the signal value of the input video signal as 0.
- the present invention when an input video signal is used as it is, when a video display based on a video signal compliant with the sRGB standard is performed on a wide color gamut display, a color shift occurs in a part of the color reproduction range.
- the color misregistration can be eliminated by simply setting parameters for color adjustment, and in the other color areas, the contents of the input video signal can be utilized as they are for video display.

Abstract
Description

APL(Average
この極座標(rin,tin)は,周知のCordic(Cordinate Rotation Computer)アルゴリズムに基づき算出することができる。
