Definitions
- the present invention relates to a grease composition and a bearing. More specifically, the present invention relates to a grease composition suitable for use in a bearing used in an environment exposed to water, such as a steel roll neck bearing, and a bearing in which the grease composition is enclosed.
- cooling water may be mixed in the bearing.
- rolling oil emulsion
- rust is easily generated. Due to this rust, poor lubrication may occur or the function as a bearing may be lost in a short period of time. Further, the bearing may be left off-line during roll polishing or replacement, and rusting may occur.
- Patent Document 1 describes a grease containing (a) a reaction product of a calcium-containing overbased organic acid and an acid-generating compound and (b) an oil having a lubricating viscosity as a grease excellent in water resistance.
- Patent Document 2 includes a base oil selected from mineral oils and synthetic oils, and a calcium sulfonate complex as a thickener. Water-resistant grease compositions containing at least one of the above are described. However, these grease compositions do not always satisfy rust prevention properties under severe conditions where cooling water and emulsion are mixed in the bearing.
- the present invention provides the following grease and bearing. 1.
- a grease composition containing a base oil, a thickener and a rust inhibitor
- the thickener comprises a calcium sulfonate complex
- the rust inhibitor includes at least one selected from the group consisting of sulfonate rust inhibitors and fatty acid amine salt rust inhibitors,
- the grease composition wherein the sulfonate rust inhibitor is a salt of zinc, calcium, sodium, lithium, ammonium, or amine.
- the fatty acid amine salt rust inhibitor is an amine salt of a fatty acid having 4 to 22 carbon atoms. 3. 3.
- the grease composition of the present invention uses a calcium sulfonate complex as a thickener and contains at least one of a specific sulfonate rust inhibitor and a fatty acid amine salt rust inhibitor as an additive. Rusting due to water mixing is remarkably improved compared to products.
- the base oil used in the grease composition of the present invention is not particularly limited, and examples thereof include mineral oils and synthetic oils used in ordinary grease compositions. Synthetic oils include poly alpha olefins, diesters, polyol esters, ethers, and the like, but the use of mineral oils is preferred from an economic viewpoint.
- Calcium sulfonate complex used as a thickener in the grease composition of the present invention is not particularly limited, but preferably is disclosed in Patent Document 1.
- the thickener used in the grease composition of the present invention is a calcium sulfonate complex, and is preferably at least 5% by mass, more preferably 10% by mass or more, and most preferably 30-50% by mass in the grease.
- NLGI grade No. is practically used from the viewpoint of leakage. 0 to No. It is preferable to adjust to about 3.
- the sulfonic acid component is alkylbenzenesulfonic acid, alkylnaphthalenesulfonic acid, etc.
- the salt component is zinc, calcium, sodium, lithium, ammonium, amine, etc.
- a zinc salt, a calcium salt, and a combination of both are preferred.
- the sulfonate may be overbased, and in this case, the base number is preferably about 0 to 500 mgKOH / g.
- Examples of the fatty acid amine salt rust inhibitor used in the grease composition of the present invention include fatty acids having 4 to 22 carbon atoms, preferably 8 to 20 carbon atoms, and aliphatic amines having 9 to 22 carbon atoms, preferably 12 to 18 carbon atoms.
- fatty acids having 4 to 22 carbon atoms preferably 8 to 20 carbon atoms
- aliphatic amines having 9 to 22 carbon atoms preferably 12 to 18 carbon atoms.
- Fatty acids and aliphatic amines may be saturated or unsaturated, and may be linear or branched.
- the amine may be any of primary, secondary and tertiary amines.
- the amount of the sulfonate rust inhibitor and fatty acid amine salt rust inhibitor used in the grease composition of the present invention is preferably 0.5 to 10% by mass, more preferably 2 to 8%, based on the grease composition. % By mass. If it is less than 0.5% by mass, it is difficult to obtain the effect, and if it exceeds 10% by mass, the effect is saturated and it is not economical.
- the grease composition of the present invention includes other additives used in ordinary grease compositions, such as oiliness improvers, antioxidants, metal deactivators, extreme pressure agents, friction modifiers, and surfactants. Etc. may be included.
- Example 1-10 and Comparative Example 1-7 The base greases shown in Example 1-10 and Comparative Example 1-7 were produced as follows. First, 85.0% by weight of calcium sulfonate having a base number of 400 mg KOH / g (manufactured by LUBRIZOL: LUBRIZOL 86GR), 9.9% by weight of paraffinic mineral oil having a base oil dynamic viscosity of 410 to 470 mm 2 / s and 5.1% by weight of distilled water in a container.
- the corrosive water used here contains the following ions, and is the average ion concentration of industrial water in steelworks.
- Example 1-10 using the rust inhibitor of the present invention the rust inhibitory effect is remarkable, whereas in Comparative Example 1-7 using a rust inhibitor other than the rust inhibitor of the present invention, the rust inhibitory effect is obtained. Is clearly inferior.
