Abstract

 複合フォトニック構造素子は、フォトニック結晶および多層膜を備える。フォトニック結晶は、基本波を第二高調波に変換する非線形効果を持つ活性層と、非線形効果を持たない非活性層とを交互に複数組積層して成り、基本波のエネルギーがフォトニックバンドギャップ端に一致するように構成される。多層膜は、屈折率が異なる2種類の薄膜を複数組積層して成り、基本波を反射する。多層膜がフォトニック結晶の両側に接合されている。一方の端面から基本波が入射され、且つ多層膜を備えた共振器間で基本波が往復反射されることによって、フォトニック結晶の内部での基本波の強度が増強される。活性層において基本波が第二高調波に変換され、第二高調波が他方の端面から外部へ取り出される。
