Abstract

 近接場光ヘッドは、スライダ20と、主磁極32及び補助磁極30を有し、スライダの先端面側に固定された記録素子21とを備える。近接場光ヘッドは、光束伝播素子22を備える。光束伝播素子22は、主磁極に隣接して固定されており、平坦面40aと曲面40bとで半円柱状に形成され、一端側から導入された光束Lを他端側に向けて伝播させるコア40と、該コアを内部に閉じ込めるクラッド41とを備える。近接場光ヘッドは、コアのうち他端側近傍における曲面上に形成され、光束から近接場光Rを生成すると共に該近接場光を曲面との界面に局在化させる金属膜23と、平坦面に対して略垂直な直線方向に偏光方向が調整された光束を一端側からコア内に導入させる光束導入手段4とを備える。主磁極32は、主磁極32の先端側がコア側に屈曲しており、該コアに埋め込まれた状態で他端側に露出している。
