Abstract

　近接場光ヘッドは、スライダ２０と、主磁極３２及び補助磁極３０を有し、スライダの先端面側に固定された記録素子２１とを備える。近接場光ヘッドは、光束伝播素子２２を備える。光束伝播素子２２は、主磁極に隣接して固定されており、平坦面４０ａと曲面４０ｂとで半円柱状に形成され、一端側から導入された光束Ｌを他端側に向けて伝播させるコア４０と、該コアを内部に閉じ込めるクラッド４１とを備える。近接場光ヘッドは、コアのうち他端側近傍における曲面上に形成され、光束から近接場光Ｒを生成すると共に該近接場光を曲面との界面に局在化させる金属膜２３と、平坦面に対して略垂直な直線方向に偏光方向が調整された光束を一端側からコア内に導入させる光束導入手段４とを備える。主磁極３２は、主磁極３２の先端側がコア側に屈曲しており、該コアに埋め込まれた状態で他端側に露出している。
