Abstract

 気体分離性能に優れた特質を有するとともに、破損しにくい柔軟性を持つ、実用性の高い中空糸炭素膜を提供するものであって、実質的に下記の(a)及び(b) (式中、R11~R12は各々独立して、水素原子、スルホン基を示す。ただし、R11~R12が共に水素原子であることはない。)で表される繰り返し単位からなり、その繰り返し単位(b)の(a+b)に対する割合A(%)は15%<A<60%であるポリフェニレンオキシド誘導体を中空糸状に形成した後に焼成して得られる炭化物からなり、その外径が0.08~0.25mmの範囲にある中空糸炭素膜。
