Abstract

【課題】エアバッグの展開性能を良くする。 【解決手段】インフレータ１１及びエアバッグ１２と、着座した乗員の車両前後方向前方の内装品の下部に取付けられる意匠面カバー１３と、意匠面カバー１３の、乗員と反対側に取付けて空間１５を形成するケース１４を備えた膝拘束用エアバッグ装置Ｂである。空間１５を車両前後方向の断面で見た場合に、空間１５内のエアバッグ収納部１５ｂを、前記断面を上下方向に細長い形状に形成する。エアバッグ収納部１５ｂにエアバッグ１２を配置した際、意匠面カバー１３に取付けた状態のケース１４の上端と下端の前記意匠面カバー１３寄りの端面を結ぶ直線Ｌよりも乗員側の領域に、エアバッグ１２の少なくとも一部を位置させ、意匠面カバー１３の空間１５形成側の面と近接するようにする。 【効果】エアバッグの展開性能が良くなる。助手席用の場合は、グローブボックスの容量が十分に確保でき、かつ良好な居住性が得られる。
