Abstract

　レジスト層の膜厚を変えることなく、レジスト層のアペックス角の制御を可能とし、それにより、記録性能に対する形状最適化を図ることが可能な薄膜磁気ヘッドおよびその製造方法を提供する。 　本発明に係る薄膜磁気ヘッドの製造方法は、磁磁性材料からなる下部磁極を形成する工程と、下部磁極上に第１の絶縁層を形成する工程と、第１の絶縁層上に所定の間隔を空けて導電性のコイルを形成する工程と、コイルの巻線間及びコイル上に第２の絶縁層を形成する工程と、第２の絶縁層及び下部磁極上にギャップ層を形成する工程と、ギャップ層上に、ギャップ層の上面に対して所定の角度を有する傾斜面を備えた第３の絶縁層を形成する工程と、ギャップ層及び第３の絶縁層上に、第１のレジスト層を形成する工程と、第１のレジスト層をハードベイクする工程と、第１のレジスト層及びギャップ層上に、磁性材料からなる上部磁極を形成する工程とを備える。
