Abstract

 セルギャップが均一である液晶表示パネル搭載基板を提供する。具体的には、以下のようにして液晶表示パネル搭載基板を製造する。  画素配列領域を包囲するように基板11上にシール剤を塗布して、メインシールとなる第1のシール21を形成する。第1のシール21の外周にシール剤を配し、一端と、もう一端とを非連結として断線部23を設けた第2のシール22を形成する。第1のシール21の内側に適量の液晶24を滴下する。減圧下にて基板11と一方の基板27とを重ね合わせる。このとき、第1のシール21と第2のシール22とを接触させず、かつ基板同士を対向させる。重ね合わせた2枚の基板を、減圧下から大気圧に戻す。減圧領域である第2のシール22の内部は、断線部23を介して徐々に周囲の気圧に近づく。これにより、大きな気圧差が生じることなく基板同士が貼り合わされるため、基板の歪等が抑えられる。この後、シール剤を硬化させて液晶表示パネル搭載基板とする。
