Abstract

情報記録再生装置は、レーザ光を、回折手段(14)によりメインビームとサブビームとに分離するように回折させ、メインビームに係るエバネッセント光を、エバネッセント光発生手段(21)により、記録ピットの形成されているトラックに対して照射させると共に、分離されるサブビームに係るエバネッセント光を記録ピットの形成されていないトラックに対して照射させる。移動手段(210)は、エバネッセント光発生手段を記録面とのギャップを変化させる方向に移動させる。そして、判定手段(40)は、記録媒体上に形成されている記録ピットの凸凹状態を判定し、その結果に基づいて、信号生成手段(3161)は、サブビーム又はメインビームに係る戻り光の光量を示す信号からギャップエラー信号を生成し、制御手段(315)は、判定される凸凹状態に応じた目標値にギャップがなるように、ギャップエラー信号に基づいて移動手段を制御する。
