[0005] また、集光スポットによりアクセスを行う光ディスク装置においては、情報層の位置に よっては、その情報層へのアクセスが不可能な場合があり得る力 アクセス不可能な 情報層に対してもアクセスを試みることにより動作不具合を生じる場合があるという問 題点があった。
発明の開示
[0006] 本発明は以上の問題点を解決するためになされたものであり、アクセスに要する時 間を低減できるとともに動作不具合を防止できる光ディスクおよび光ディスク装置なら びに制御装置を提供することを目的とする。
[0007] 本発明に係る光ディスクの第 1の態様は、複数個の情報層(101〜108)力もなる情 報層群を有し各情報層(101〜108)において情報の記録または再生を光学的に行 う光ディスク(100)であって、情報層群には、光ディスク(100)の厚み方向における 各情報層(102〜108)の位置を示す位置情報が記録されることを特徴とする。 [0008] 本発明に係る光ディスクの第 1の態様によれば、光ディスク装置(200)によりァクセ スを行う場合に、各情報層(102〜108)の位置を検知するために要する時間を低減 できる。よって、アクセスに要する時間を低減できる。

図 1は、実施の形態 1に係る光ディスク 100と光ディスク 100に情報の記録または再 生を行うための光ディスク装置 200とを示す模式図である。

)の情報層 101〜108 (情報層群)が積層されている。これらの情報層 101〜108は
、それぞれ、光学的に情報の記録または再生を行うことが可能である。

[0016] 光検知器 226は、照射により受光された光束 214を、電流に変換 (光電変換)し信 号処理手段 228に入力させる。信号処理手段 228は、入力された電流に基づき(す なわち光束 214の発光量に基づき)、信号を生成する。生成された信号は、ビームェ キスパンダ 218a〜218bの制御に用いられるとともに、映像処理手段 230に入力さ れる。映像処理手段 230は、入力された信号に基づき映像処理 (記録または再生)を 行う。これにより、光ディスク装置 200を用いて光ディスク 100の記録または再生を行 うことが可能となる。 [0017] 情報層 101よりも表面 110に近い情報層 102〜108にアクセスする場合には、信号 処理手段 228から出力される制御信号を変化させることにより、ビームエキスパンダ 2 18a〜218bを適切に制御することが可能である。従って、ビームエキスパンダ 218a 〜218bの位置を変化させこれらの間の距離を微調整することにより、光束 214を発 散光束や収束光束等の適切な光束に変換することができる。すなわち、ビームェキ スパンダ 218a〜218bの間の距離を微調整することにより、集光スポット 109が有す る球面収差を微調整し、この球面収差を含む波面収差が最適となるようにすることが できる。これにより、情報層 101のみならず情報層 102〜108においても、光束 214 を集光させ、情報の記録または再生を行うことが可能となる。

[0034] 本実施の形態においては、 8個の情報層 101〜108を用いる場合について説明し ているが、情報層が 7個以下 (例えば 4個)と少ない場合には、情報層 105〜108お よび光透過膜 114〜 117は配置されな 、ので、厚さ 124〜 127は 0として記憶すれ ばよい。情報層の個数が 8個より小さくなつていくと、 1個の情報層の厚さは大きく設 定することが可能となる。図 5においては、厚さ 121〜123は、厚さ 124〜127に比較 して、大きな値に設定可能である。例えば、情報層が 4個と少ない場合には、厚さ 12 1〜123を、段落 0021に示した値よりも大きな値にそれぞれ設定することにより、上 述した 100 mの範囲を有効に利用することができる。また、例えば、情報層が 8個と 多い場合には、厚さ 124〜127も設定することが必要となる力 既に厚さ 121〜123 が所定値に設定されているので、厚さ 124〜127がさほど大きな値に設定されること はない。すなわち、厚さ 121〜 123を比較的に広い範囲で、厚さ 124〜127を比較 的に狭い範囲で、それぞれ設定可能とすることにより、位置情報領域 132を効率よく 使用することが可能となる。

7を用いる場合には、深さ情報を得るために加算等の演算処理が必要となる。また、 この演算処理においては、小数点以下の誤差が積算されるので、誤差が大きくなる 場合がある。
[0088] 図 12は、本実施の形態に係る情報フィールド 136a〜136dの配置を示す模式図 である。図 12に示されるように、情報フィールド 136a〜136dは、図 5に示される情報 フィールド 134a〜134dと同様に、 1バイトすなわち 8ビットの情報量を有する。情報 フィールド 136a〜136dは、情報層 102〜108の位置を、厚さ 121〜127に代えて、 情報層 102〜108それぞれと情報層 101との相対距離である距離 142〜148として 記憶している。但し、この距離 142〜148の記憶は、 4 mの分解能で行われるとす る。

[0097] 情報層 101からの距離は、情報層 102〜108において、この順に大きくなるので、 距離 146〜148は、距離 142〜145に比較して、大きな値に設定可能としている。例 えば、距離 142〜148力 それぞれ、 10 m、 20 m、 30 m、 50 m、 70 m、 8 0 m、および 90 μ mである場合には、距離 142〜145は 60 μ m以下であるが、距 離 146〜148は 60 /z mより大きい。すなわち、距離 146〜148を比較的に広い範囲 で、距離 142〜145を比較的に狭い範囲で、それぞれ設定可能とすることにより、位 置情報領域 132を効率よく使用することが可能となる。
[0098] このように、本実施の形態に係る光ディスクにおいては、各情報層の位置情報とし て、各光透過層の厚さに代えて、最深情報層と各情報層との相対距離を用いる。従 つて、実施の形態 1の効果に加えて、深さ情報を得るための加算等の演算処理が不 要となり演算処理に伴う誤差を低減できるという効果を有する。

請求の範囲
[1] 複数個の情報層(101〜108)からなる情報層群を有し各前記情報層(101〜108 )において情報の記録または再生を光学的に行う光ディスク(100)であって、 前記情報層群には、前記光ディスク(100)の厚み方向における各前記情報層(10 2〜108)の位置を示す位置情報が記録される
ことを特徴とする光ディスク(100)。
[2] 請求項 1に記載の光ディスク(100)であって、
前記位置情報は、少なくとも前記情報層群のうち前記光ディスク(100)の記録光ま たは再生光が入射する面力も最も遠い位置に配置された最深情報層(101)に記録 される
ことを特徴とする光ディスク(100)。
[3] 請求項 2に記載の光ディスク(100)であって、
前記最深情報層(101)は、前記面から略 100 mの深さに位置する
ことを特徴とする光ディスク(100)。
[4] 請求項 1乃至請求項 3のいずれかに記載の光ディスク(100)であって、
前記位置情報は、隣接する各前記情報層(101〜108)間の距離 (121〜127)を 表す情報( 134a〜 134d)である
ことを特徴とする光ディスク(100)。
[5] 請求項 4に記載の光ディスク(100)であって、
前記位置情報は、少なくとも、前記最深情報層(101)に最も近い情報層(102)の 位置を前記最深情報層(101)から最も遠い情報層(108)の位置より長いビット長で 表す
ことを特徴とする光ディスク(100)。
[6] 請求項 2又は請求項 3に記載の光ディスク(100)であって、
前記位置情報は、前記最深情報層(101)と各前記情報層(102〜108)との距離 (
142〜 148)を表す情報 ( 136a〜 136d)である
ことを特徴とする光ディスク(100)。
[7] 請求項 6に記載の光ディスク(100)であって、 前記位置情報は、少なくとも、前記最深情報層(101)に最も近い情報層(102)の 位置を前記最深情報層(101)から最も遠い情報層(108)の位置より短いビット長で 表す
ことを特徴とする光ディスク(100)。
[8] 請求項 1に記載の光ディスク(100)であって、
各前記位置情報は、 4〜5ビット長で表される
ことを特徴とする光ディスク(100)。
[9] 請求項 8に記載の光ディスク(100)であって、
前記位置情報の全体は、 4バイト長で表される
ことを特徴とする光ディスク(100)。
[10] 請求項 9に記載の光ディスク(100)であって、
前記情報層群は、 8層構成からなる
ことを特徴とする光ディスク(100)。
[11] 請求項 1に記載の光ディスク(100)において情報の記録または再生を行うための 光ディスク装置(200)であって、
前記光ディスク(100)から前記位置情報を抽出する位置情報抽出手段 (282) を備えることを特徴とする光ディスク装置(200)。
[12] 請求項 11に記載の光ディスク装置(200)であって、
抽出された前記位置情報に基づき各前記情報層(102〜108)へのアクセス可否 を示すアクセス可否情報を生成する
ことを特徴とする光ディスク装置 (200)。
[13] 請求項 11又は請求項 12に記載の光ディスク装置(200)を制御するための制御装 置(300)であって、
生成された前記アクセス可否情報に基づき、アクセス可能な情報層に対してのみァ クセス指示を行う
ことを特徴とする制御装置 (300)。
[14] 請求項 1に記載の光ディスク(100)であって、
前記位置情報は、前記情報層群のうち前記光ディスク(100)の記録光または再生 光が入射する面から最も遠い位置に配置された最深情報層(101)と各前記情報層( 102〜108)との距離(142〜148)を表す情報(136a〜136d)である
ことを特徴とする光ディスク(100)。
