明 細 書 非結晶性ポリエステル組成物 技術分野
本発明は、 透明性および色調に優れ、 且つ押出成形に適した非結晶性ポリエステル組成 物に関する。 背景技術
非結晶性ポリエステルは特定の単量体を構成単位とすることにより、 従来の結晶性ポリ エステルよりも透明性が高く、 またより低い温度で成形が可能となった為、 優れた透明性 が求められるフィルムやシートに広く用いられている。 しかしながら、 非結晶性ポリエス テルからなる成形物は自由体積緩和現象が起こりやすい為、 フィルムおよびシート製品の 長期保管中に機械的物性が低下するという問題を抱えている。 従来、 非結晶性ポリエステ ルの耐衝搫性を改良する手段として、 特定の耐衝撃性の優れた樹脂をプレンドする技術が 提案されている (例えば、 特開平 1— 2 6 3 1 4 9号公報参照。)。
また、 非結晶性ポリエステルは、 一般に用いられている結晶性ポリエステルと同様、 押 出成形時の溶融粘度や溶融張力が低い為、 高い溶融張力を必要とする異形押出成形には不 適とされてきた。 そこで、 グリシジル基を有するスチレン系共重合体をポリエステルに添 加して、 溶融張力を高くする技術が提案されている (例えば、 特許第 3 2 1 0 7 0 2号公 報、 特開 2 0 0 2— 2 6 5 7 6 5号公報参照。)。
特開平 1一 2 6 3 1 4 9号公報にて提案されている方法では、 透明な成形物を得ること が困難である。 その理由は、 組成物に配合される材料どうしの屈折率が大きく異なるため と推測される。
特許第 3 2 1 0 7 0 2号公報に記載の組成物は、 透明性の高い成形物が得られない。 そ の理由は、 使用されているポリエステルの結晶性が高いためと推測される。
また、 特開 2 0 0 2— 2 6 5 7 6 5号公報に記載の組成物は、 溶融成型時の溶融張力が 低く、 異形押出成形法による成形物の製造が困難である。 発明の開示 本発明の目的は、 透明性が優れ、 長期保管中の寸法変化や機械的物性低下が少ないフィ ルム、 シート、 成形品を与える、 異形押出成形に好適に使用できるポリエステル組成物を 提供することにある。
上記の目的を達成するために、 本発明によれば、 溶融温度が 2 4 0 °C以下である非結晶 性ポリエステル (A) 1 0 0質量部および屈折率が 1 . 5 6 5〜1 . 5 7 5であり重量平 均分子量が 6 0 0 0〜 2 5 0 0 0でありスチレン単位およびダリシジル (メタ) ァクリ レ ート単位を有するビニル重合体 (B ) 0 . 1〜1 5質量部を含有し、 温度 2 4 0 °C、 せん 断速度 6 0 8 c m—1における溶融粘度が 4 0 0〜2 0 0 0 P a . sであるポリエステル組 成物が提供される。 発明を実施するための最良の形態
本明細書において、 (メタ) アタリレートとはアタリレー卜おょぴメタタリレートを意 味する。
本発明の組成物の主成分である非結晶性ポリエステル (A) は溶融温度が 2 4 0 °C以下 のものであり、 好ましくは 1 5 0〜2 3 0。C、 より好ましくは 1 6 0〜2 2 0 °Cのもので ある。 溶融温度が高すぎても低すぎても異形押出成形に対する適性が損なわれる。 ここに レ、う溶融温度とは、 ポリヱステルを押出成形機にて溶融混練する際に必要とされる最低の 温度を意味する。 非結晶性ポリエステルとは、 固体状態から液体状態 (溶融状態) に相変 化する際に結晶融解熱が明確に確認されないポリエステルを意味する。 該融解熱の測定は 示差走査熱量測定法によって行うことができる。
非結晶性ポリエステルを構成する二価カルボン酸単位 1 0 0モル%を基準とする炭素数 8〜 1 4の芳香族二価カルボン酸単位およびその他の二価カルボン酸単位の割合がそれぞ れ 8 0〜1 0 0モル0 /0および 0〜2 0モル0 /0であるものが好ましく、 それぞれ 9 0〜1 0 ◦モル%および 0〜1 0モル0 /0であるものがより好ましい。 また、 非結晶性ポリエステル を構成する二価アルコール単位 1 0 0モル%を基準とする 1 , 4—シクロへキサンジメタ ノール単位おょぴその他の二価アルコール単位の割合がそれぞれ 1 0〜1 0 0モル%およ ぴ 0〜9 0モル0 /0であるものが好ましく、 それぞれ 2 0〜8 0モル%および 2 0〜8 0モ ル%であるものがより好ましい。
炭素数 8〜1 4の芳香族二価カルボン酸としては、例えばテレフタル酸、イソフタル酸、 ナフタレンジカルボン酸などが挙げられ、 これらの 2種以上を用いてもよい。 その他の二 価カルボン酸としては、 例えばコハク酸、 セパシン酸、 アジピン酸、 シクロへキサンジカ ルボン酸等が挙げられ、 これらの 2種以上を用いてもよい。 テレフタル酸は特に好ましい ものである。
1 , 4—シク口へキサンジメタノ一ル以外の二価アルコールとしては、 例えばエチレン グリコール、 プロパンジオール、 ブタンジオール、 ペンタンジオール、 へキサンジオール 等が挙げられ、 これらの 2種以上を用いてもよい。 エチレングリコールは特に好ましいも のである。
ビュル重合体 (B ) は、 屈折率が 1 . 5 6 5〜1 . 5 7 5であり、 重量平均分子量が 6 0 0 0〜2 5 0 0 0であり、 好ましくは 8 0 0 0〜2 2 0 0 0であり、 スチレン単位およ びグリシジル(メタ)ァクリレート単位を有するものである。このようなビュル重合体(B ) は、 ポリエステル組成物に配合されて、 「透明性が優れ、 長期保管中の寸法変化や機械的 物性低下が少ないフィルム、 シート、 成形品を与える、 異形押出成形に好適に使用できる ポリエステル組成物を提供する」 という特徴を発揮する。
屈折率が 1 . 5 6 5未満であるかまたは 1 . 5 7 5を超えると、 ポリエステル組成物お よびその成形物の透明性が損なわれる。 また、 重量平均分子量が 6 0 0 0未満であるとポ リエステル組成物から得られる成形物が機械的物性の保存安定性の不充分なものとなりや すい。 また重量平均分子量が 2 5 0 0 0を超えると組成物の押出成形時にゲルが生成し、 得られる成形物が表面平滑性の悪いものとなりやすい。
ビュル重合体 (B ) は、 スチレン単位 4 5〜7 5質量0 /0、 グリシジル (メタ) ァクリ レ ート単位 5〜 5 5質量%およびスチレン、 グリシジル (メタ) アタリレート以外の窒素原 子を含まないビュル単量体(以下、その他のビュル単量体ともいう。)単位 0〜5 0質量% からなるものであることが好ましい。 スチレン単位は 5 5〜7 5質量0 /0であることがより 好ましく、 6 0〜7 5質量%であることがさらに好ましい。 グリシジル (メタ) アタリレ 一ト単位は 1 0〜4 5質量%であることがより好ましく、 1 5〜4 0質量%であることが さらに好ましい。その他のビュル単量体単位は 0〜 3 5質量%であることがより好ましく、 0〜 2 5質量%であることがさらに好ましい。 このような構成のビュル重合体 (B ) は、 特に透明性が優れ、機械的物性の良好な組成物を与える。その他のビニル単量体としては、 例えば、 メチル (メタ) アタリレート、 プチル (メタ) ァクリ レート、 ェチル (メタ) ァ クリレート、 ブチル (メタ) アタリレート、 へキシル (メタ) アタリレート、 シクロへキ シル (メタ) アタリレート、 酢酸ビュル、 エチレン、 プロピレン、 塩化ビニル等の公知の ビュル系単量体が挙げられ、 2種以上を用いることもできる。
ビュル重合体 (B) は、 ビュル単量体を 1 70〜350°Cの温度において連続重合させ て得られるものが好ましく、 180〜270°Cの温度において連続重合させて得られるも のがより好ましい。 この方法によれば、 ゲル化が起こりにくく、 且つ組成が均一で不純物 の少ない透明性の高いビュル重合体が得られる。 このような高温連続重合法としては、 特 表昭 57— 5021 71号、 特開昭 59— 6207号、 特開昭 60— 21 5007号等に 開示された公知の方法に従えば良い。 例えば、 加圧可能な反応器を加圧下で所定温度に設 定した後、 各ビニル単量体、 及ぴ必要に応じて重合溶媒とからなるビニル単量体混合物を 一定の供給速度で反応機へ供給し、 ビュル単量体混合物の供給量に見合う量の重合液を抜 き出す方法があげられる。 又、 ビニル単量体混合物には、 必要に応じて重合開始剤を配合 することもできる。 その場合の配合量としては、 ビニル単量体混合物 1 00質量部に対し て 0. 001〜2質量部であることが好ましい。 圧力は、 反応温度と使用するビュル単量 体混合物及び溶媒の沸点に依存するもので、 反応に影響を及ぼさないので、 前記反応温度 を維持できる圧力であればよい。 反応温度が高すぎると着色の問題が生じる場合があり、 低すぎると生産性が悪レ、などの問題がおこることがある。 単量体混合物の反応器内での滞 留時間は、 1〜60分であることが好ましい。 滞留時間が 1分に満たない場合は単量体が 充分に反応しない恐れがあり、 60分を越える場合は、 生産性が悪くなつてしまうことが ある。 好ましい滞留時間は 2〜40分である。
非結晶性ポリエステル (A) 100質量部を基準とするビニル重合体 (B) の配合割合 は、 0. 1〜1 5質量部であり、 好ましくは 2〜10質量部である。 ビュル重合体の配合 割合が 0. 1質量部未満であると、 組成物の溶融粘度が低すぎるため、 すなわち溶融張力 の向上がなく、 良好な押出成形性が得られない。 また、 ビニル重合体の配合割合が 1 5質 量部を超えると、 組成物の押出成形中に溶融した組成物がゲル化しやすく、 得られる成形 物の表面平滑性が悪化するか、 または成形物の透明性が悪くなる。
本発明のポリエステル組成物は、 温度 240°C、 せん断速度 608 cm"1における溶融 粘度が 400〜2000 P a · sのものである。 ここにいう溶融粘度とは、 J I S K 7 1 99に規定される'キヤピラリーレオメータにて測定された値である。 温度おょぴせん断 速度以外の条件として直径 lmm、 長さ 10mm、 流入角 1 80 ° のダイスを用いた。 溶 融粘度が 4 O O P a · s未満であると、 異形押出成形の際、 ドローダウン現象が起こり所 望の形状の異形押出成形物を得ることができない。 また、 2000 P a · sを超えると、 押出成形の際、 メルトフラクチャ一現象が起こり、 得られる成形物の表面平滑性が悪くな るばかりカ 所望の形状を得る事ができない。
また、 本発明のポリエステル組成物は、 上記のような構成とすることにより透明性の優 れたものとなるが、 特に^ ^一ズ値が 6以下であるものが好ましく、 5以下であるものがよ り好ましい。
本発明のポリエステル組成物は、 押出成形法によるフィルム、 シートおよび異形成形物 の製造に適している。 上記溶融粘度を有するため特に異形押出成形物の製造に好適に使用 することができる。 押出成形法に供される組成物に求められる性能として、 ダイスから吐 出した特定の形状を付与された溶融物が、 空気中若しくは水中、 またはサイジング装置で 冷却 ·固化するまでの間、 所望の形状を保持することが重要である。 すなわち高い溶融粘 度や溶融張力を持つ組成物が押出成形方法に適している。 一方他の成形方法、 例えば射出 成形方法は高温で溶融させた樹脂組成物を、 樹脂が冷却 ·固化できる温度以下で管理され た金型内に、 高圧条件下で流し込む方法である為、 射出成形法に供される樹脂組成物の溶 融粘度は、 より低い事が好適である。 従って、 射出成形方法は本発明に示される榭脂組成 物の特徴を最大に活用できる分野ではない。
押出成形方法に用いられる押出機としては、例えば単軸押出機、同方向回転 2軸押出機、 異方向回転平行軸 2軸押出機、 異方向回転斜軸 2軸押出機、 プラネタリギヤ押出機、 等の 任意の押出機が任意の形式の押出機を選択できる。
本発明のポリエステル組成物は、 目的に応じて任意の添加剤が本発明の効果を損なわな い範囲で配合されたものであってもよい。 添加剤の例としては、 可塑剤、 加工助剤、 充填 剤、 顔料等が挙げられる。
本発明のポリエステル組成物は、従来のポリエステルおよぴポリエステル組成物に比べ、 透明性と溶融張力の高さを両立したものである。 また、 この組成物から得られる押出成形 物の破断伸び率や衝撃強度は、 長期の保存安定性に優れたものである。 実施例
(重合体 1の製造)
オイルジャケットを備えた容量 1 リットルの加圧式攪拌槽型反応器のオイルジャケット 温度を、 2 0 0 °Cに保った。 次いで、 スチレン (以下 S tという。) 7 4質量部、 グリシジ ルメタクリレート(以下 GMAという。) 2 0質量部、ァクリル酸ブチル(以下 B Aという。) 6質量部、 キシレン 15質量部おょぴ重合開始剤としてジターシャリーブチルパーォキサ ィ ド (以下 DTBPという。) 0. 5質量部からなる単量体混合液を原料タンクに仕込んだ。 一定の供給速度 (48 分、滞留時間: 1 2分) で原料タンクから反応器に連続供給し、 反応器内の混合液質量が 580 gで一定になるように反応液を出口から連続的に抜き出し た。 その時の反応器内温は、 21 0°Cに保たれた。抜き出した反応液を減圧度 30 k P a、 温度 250°Cに保った薄膜蒸発機で連続的に揮発成分を分離し、 揮発成分をほとんど含ま ない重合体 1を回収した。
単量体混合物の供給開始後、 反応器内部の温度が安定してからさらに 36分後を薄膜蒸 発後の重合体の回収開始点とし、 それから 1 80分反応を継続した結果、 約 7 k gの重合 体 1を回収した。
ゲルパーミエーシヨンクロマトグラフ (GPC) より求めたポリスチレン換算による重 合体 1の重量平均分子量 (以下 Mwという。 ) は 9800であった。 またガスクロマトグ ラフ (GC) による重合体 1中の揮発成分量は 1 %以下であった。
さらに、 重合体 1を目視で確認したところ、 黄変等の着色がなく、 透明性の優れたもの であった。
重合体の屈折率は次の式 1より計算され、 その結果、 重合体 1の屈折率は 1. 5709 であった。

の他のビュル単量体単独重合体の屈折率は、文献「J.Brandup編、 Polymer Handbook, JOHN WILLEY & SONS社発行, 1999年, 第 4版 ,V I -571頁」 に記載されている。 S w: ビニル重合体中の S tの質量分率

(重合体 2〜 1 0の製造)
重合体 2〜 1 0は、 表 1に示すビニル単量体混合物、 重合開始剤量、 重合温度条件の他 は重合体 1の製造方法と同様の操作で得られた。 このようにして得られた重合体 2〜1 0 の Mwおよび屈折率は、 表 1に示されるものであった。 また、 各重合体の色調で黄変等の 不具合は認められなかった。

(重合体 1 1の製造)
ビュル単量体混合物として S t 70質量部、 GMA20質量部、 AN 1 0質量部、 キシ レン 10質量部および重合開始剤である DTBP 0. 5質量部を使用し、 重合温度とし て 210°Cの条件で重合反応を行なった他は前記重合体 1の製造方法と同様の操作を行い、 Mw 9000、 屈折率 1. 5708である重合体 1 1を得た。 しかしながら、 重合体 1 1 の色調を目視で確認したところ、 黄変していた。
(ポリエステル組成物の製造)
非結晶性ポリエステルとして、 イーストマンケミカル社製 イースター 6763 (以下 PET— Gという。) を用いた。 PET— G 1 00質量部に対し、前記の製造例により得 られた各重合体を表 2に示す割合でそれぞれ添加した。 次にヘンシェルミキサーにて P E T— Gと各重合体を均一に混合した後、 同方向平行軸 2軸押出機 (プラスチック工学研究 所製、 ST— 40)、 240°Cの温度条件下にて、 ポリエステル組成物を得た。

(評価用成形物の製造)
名機製射出成形機 M— 50ΑΠを用い、 シリンダ温度 28 0°C、 金型温度 40°Cの条 件にて、 前記各組成物を射出成形し、 引張試験用テストピース J I S K3 1 1 3記載の 1号試験片を得た。 また、 成形物の透明性評価用テストピースとして厚さ 2 mm、 直径 1 0 c mの板状成形物を得た。
(引張試験)
インストロン社製 引張試験機 55 64タイプを用い 1 OmmZm i nの速度で破断伸 ぴ率を測定した。
(透明性の評価)
日本電色工業製 ヘーズメータ∑— 80を用い、 前記板状成形物のヘーズを測定した。 (押出成形性の評価)
直径 l mm、 長さ 1 Omm、 流入角 1 8 0° のダイスを備えた東洋精機株式会社製キヤ ピラリーグラフ 1 Cを用い、 240°C、 せん断速度 6 08 c m—1の条件下で、 前記樹脂組 成物の溶融粘度とス トランド表面平滑性を観察した。 さらに、 せん断速度 60. 8 cm— 1 の条件で溶融張力を測定した。
(保存安定性 (エージング試験))
温度 5 0°Cの乾燥機中に前記引張試験用'テス トピースを 5日間静置後、 前記引張試験の 条件で破断伸び率を測定した。
(評価結果のまとめ)
前記各評価を実施した結果、 表 2に示されるように、 実施例 1〜4の樹脂組成物は機械 的物性の保存安定性および透明性が優れ、 且つ溶融粘度および溶融張力が高い事が明らか となった。 また、 実施例 5の榭脂組成物は、 透明性がやや悪くなるものの、 実使用に支障 のないレベルであった。 さらにその他の物性は本発明記載の目的を満たすものであった。 また、 重合体 1に代えて重合体 1 1を使用して実施例 1と同様に評価したところ、 黄色に 着色はしていたが、 評価結果は良好であった。
し力 ^し、 比較例 1および 6では溶融粘度や溶融張力が低く、 押出成形、 特に異形押出成 形方法には不適であった。 比較例 2は機械的物性の保存安定性に乏しい。 また、比較例 3、 5、 7および 8は、 それぞれ用いられた重合体 8、 1 0、 5および 6の屈折率が本発明の 範囲外であった為、 透明性の優れた成形物を得ることができなかった。 さらに比較例 4で は、 溶融樹脂中にゲルが発生し、 ス トランド表面平滑性が悪かった。 産業上の利用可能性
本発明のポリエステル組成物は、 透明性が優れ、 異形押出成形に好適に使用でき、 本発 明のポリエステル組成物を使用することにより、 長期保管中の寸法変化や機械的物性低下 が少ない設計により忠実なフィルム、 シート、 成形品が得られる。

Claims

請求の範囲
1. 溶融温度が 240°C以下である非結晶性ポリエステル (A) 100質量部および屈折 率が 1. 565〜1. 575であり重量平均分子量が 6000〜25000でありスチレ ン単位おょぴグリシジル (メタ) アタリレート単位を有するビュル重合体 (B) 0. 1〜 1 5質量部を含有し、 温度 240°C、 せん断速度 608 c m— 1における溶融粘度が 400 〜2000P a · sであるポリエステル組成物。
2. フィルム製造もしくはシート製造用または異形押出成形用に使用される請求項 1に記 載のポリエステル組成物。
3. 非結晶性ポリエステル (A) i 二価カルボン酸単位 1 00モル%を基準とする炭素 数 8〜 14の芳香族二価カルボン酸単位およびその他の二価カルボン酸単位の割合がそれ ぞれ 80〜 100モル%および 0〜 20モル%であり、 二価アルコール単位 1 00モル% を基準とする 1 , 4ーシク口へキサンジメタノール単位おょぴその他の二価アルコール単 位の割合がそれぞれ 10〜1 00モル%ぉょぴ0〜90モル%であることを特徴とする請 求項 1または 2に記載のポリエステル,袓成物。
4. ビュル重合体 (Β) 力 スチレン単位 45〜75質量0 /0、 グリシジル (メタ) アタリ レート単位 5〜55質量0 /0およびスチレン、 グリシジル (メタ) ァクリレート以外の窒素 原子を含まないビュル単量体単位 0〜 50質量%からなることを特徴とする請求項 1〜 3 のいずれかに記載のポリエステル組成物。
5 - ビュル重合体 (B) i ビュル単量体を 1 70〜 350°Cの温度において連続重合さ せて得られるものであることを特徴とする請求項 1〜4のいずれかに記載のポリエステル 組成物。
6. ^ ^一ズ値が 6以下である請求項 1〜 5のいずれかに記載のポリエステル組成物。
