- the electrodeless discharge lamp 3 such a problem does not occur since no electrodes exist in the first place.
- the configuration shown in FIG. 7 is an intermittently driven lighting circuit 4 ′, it is not intended to synchronize the turn-on and the intermittently driven lighting of the DC / AC converter 6.
- the difference from the configuration of the first embodiment is the configuration of a dimming control unit 7 ′ that generates a dimming control signal and sends a dimming command signal to a DC / AC conversion unit (inverter circuit) 6.

- An electrodeless fluorescent lamp is used as the discharge lamp
- the switching frequency f1 of the inverter circuit is 200 kHz
- a MOS FET is used as the switching element.
- FIG. 8 shows the experimental results of the configuration shown in FIG.
- the operation and characteristics of the discharge lamp lighting device shown in FIG. 7 will be described together with the contents shown in FIG.
- FIG. 8 is a waveform diagram showing waveforms from a to d, where the horizontal axis is a time axis, and the time axis is a common measure in each waveform diagram.
- the drain current of the M ⁇ SFETs 11 and 12 requires a large amount of energy to start the electrodeless fluorescent lamp 3, and a large current flows at the moment of lighting as shown in Fig. 8c.
- the dimming control unit controls the electrodeless fluorescent lamp (or the discharge lamp) before the lighting of the electrodeless fluorescent lamp (or the discharge lamp) becomes unstable.
