Definitions
- the invention relates to an exercise bike with a rotating mechanism that can be operated by a user while sitting or lying down with the feet, with a rotating mechanism main frame, which has a support leg for supporting the main frame on the ground and a saddle holder for a saddle on which the User can sit if he uses the exercise bike as a stationary bicycle-like training device, and with an additional frame, which has a support foot to support the additional frame on the floor, a connecting part for connection to the main frame and a seat with backrest on which the User can sit when he uses the exercise bike as a stationary exercise bike-like exercise bike.
- Such an exercise bike which can be used both as a stationary bicycle-like training device and as a stationary recumbent training device, is known from DE-OS 26 52 892.
- the additional frame for operation similar to a recumbent bike is either attached to a rear support leg of the main frame or connected to a frame part of the main frame holding the rear support leg.
- the height of the rotating mechanism is adjustable so that the most favorable ground clearance for the foot pedals of the rotating mechanism can be achieved when using the exercise bike as a bicycle-like or recumbent bicycle-like training device.
- the exercise bike is used as a bicycle-like training device, it is advantageous if the rotating mechanism is close to the ground in order to make it easier for the user to get on and off the saddle of the exercise bike, with a rotating mechanism close to the ground because of the relatively upright sitting posture of the user and the resulting substantially horizontal position of the feet on the pedals of the rotating mechanism, a disturbing contact of the feet or legs of the user with the floor cannot occur.
- the exercise bike is used as a training device similar to a recumbent bicycle, the seat of the additional frame is located near the floor, which results in an inclined or approximately vertical position of the feet on the pedals of the rotary mechanism.
- the rotating mechanism In order to prevent the feet or legs of the user of the exercise bike from contacting the floor when using the exercise bike as a training bike-like exercise device, the rotating mechanism is moved to a greater vertical distance from the floor.
- the height adjustment of the rotating mechanism of the known exercise bike is realized in that either the rotating mechanism itself is slidably arranged on the main frame or in that the main frame has height-adjustable support feet that allow the height of the main frame including the rotating mechanism arranged on it.
- the height adjustability of the rotating mechanism through the adjustable arrangement of the rotating mechanism on the main frame or through the use of height-adjustable support feet is structurally complex, uncomfortable to use and disadvantageous for the stability of the exercise bike.
- the object of the invention is to develop the generic exercise bike in such a way that the height adjustment of the rotary mechanism for converting the exercise bike from a bicycle-like exercise bike to a recumbent bike-like exercise device and vice versa is structurally simpler and more user-friendly, and the main frame of commercial exercise bikes can be used as the main frame of the exercise bike, which can only be used as a bicycle-like training device.
- the object of the invention is achieved in that when using the exercise bike as a stationary device similar to a recumbent bicycle, the connecting part of the additional frame is connected to the saddle holder of the main frame, and the main frame is inclined relative to a normal position of the main frame in an inclined position around the support foot of the main frame is tilted, the rotating mechanism being at a greater vertical distance from the floor than in the normal position of the main frame, in which the exercise bike can be used as a stationary, bicycle-like training device.
- the connecting part of the additional frame can either be connected to the seat post holder or to the seat post, the connection of the connecting part to the seat post having the advantage that the seat post does not have to be removed.
- the exercise bike according to the invention has the advantage that the height of the rotary mechanism is adjusted solely by a tilting-pivoting movement of the main frame around its support leg. As a result, there is no facility for height adjustment of the rotating mechanism relative to the main frame and also no device for height adjustment of the support leg of the main frame required. This opens up the possibility of converting a commercial exercise bike, which can only be used as a bicycle-like training device, into a training bike-like training device with just a few hand movements.
- the additional frame has a substantially triangular frame, at one corner of which the supporting foot of the additional frame is located, and the frame has an elongated frame part opposite the supporting foot, which extends substantially horizontally when the exercise bike is used as a stationary exercise bike-like exercise device and that Seat part of the seat with backrest carries.
- the triangular shape of the frame of the additional frame results in a high stability of the additional frame.
- the triangular shape of the frame of the additional frame also allows the additional frame to be easily manufactured with little use of material.
- the seat with backrest preferably has a seat part and a backrest part, the inclination of which is adjustable relative to the seat part.
- the backrest part can also be height-adjustable relative to the seat part.
- the seat with backrest can be changed in its distance from the main frame.
- the additional frame has a further support foot and that the additional frame together with the main frame to which it is connected, can be tilted about the one support foot of the additional frame into an upright position in which the one support foot and the further support
- the foot of the additional frame is supported on the floor, the main frame is lifted off the floor, and the rotating mechanism is at a vertical distance from the floor, which is suitable for the user of the exercise bike to use the rotating mechanism for arm training while standing.
- This further development has the advantage that a change of the exercise bike from the lying bicycle position into the upright position to the arm training can be done quickly and easily with very little additional construction effort.
- the exercise bike according to DE-OS 26 52 892 enables arm training, but in a relatively uncomfortable prone position of the user.
- the additional frame is connected to the seat post of the main frame, the main frame remains in the normal position in which the exercise bike is used as a bicycle-like training device.
- the exercise bike according to the invention if the additional frame is equipped with a further support leg, enables a gentle arm training, in which the user stands in front of the main and additional frame, which is in an upright position, and actuates the rotary mechanism with the arms.
- the additional frame preferably has a counterweight which is arranged at a point which, when the exercise bike is used as a training bike similar to a recumbent bike, is located above one support leg, so that when the exercise bike is erected it lowers into the upright position in the direction of the floor.
- the counterweight can be arranged on the back of the backrest part of the seat of the additional frame. Another possibility is to arrange the counterweight on the further support leg.
