- Circuit breakers with an electronic release as described for example in US-A 4, 210, 887 or US-A 4, 181, 906, have a housing with a chamber in which the release can be used interchangeably. Since the electronic circuit can easily be adapted to the rated current, the switching capacity class and other parameters of the switch, electronic triggers can be constructed identically for a large number of circuit breaker types. The nominal current plugs that can be plugged into the electronic circuit merely parameterize the release to the current values valid for the respective circuit breaker. The interchangeability of the release also has the advantage that it can be removed in the event of malfunctions and checked in a test device and, if necessary, replaced with a new one without the circuit breaker having to be removed. If the cause of the fault is not the trigger, this is at the same time information that only the switch part can be responsible for the fault, so that it must then be replaced.
