Definitions
- the present invention relates to the sorting of solid products, for example household waste or ordinary industrial waste, making it possible to select recoverable waste.
- the waste to be sorted can include all forms of paper, plastic, glass, metal, wood or any other material. Sorting makes it possible to separate the elements of waste according to their nature or their constitution, so as to allow a selective subsequent treatment.
- Waste sorting methods and installations are already known, for example the method and the device described in document US-A-5 249 690.
- a waste sorting installation comprises at least one generally linear primary conveyor , associated with a return conveyor also linear to form a closed loop, and with secondary conveyors and auxiliary conveyors connected to the primary conveyor by manual sorting stations.
- Such an installation is particularly complex, requiring a multiplicity of conveyors, and occupies a large space, distributed over several floors of a building, and its cost is high.
- the width of the circular crown is limited, to allow the operator to access the waste it carries.
- the document DE-A-34 10 901 describes a rotary table for automatic sorting of parts, with flaps with two positions selectively ejecting the parts towards respective receptacles on the periphery. There is no provision for access to parts by manual sorting operators.
- the problem proposed by the present invention is to design a new manual sorting device, and an associated method of use, making it possible to ensure good accessibility of the waste in order to improve the quality of the manual sorting of one or more several operators, and significantly reduce the size of the sorting installation, while at the same time making it possible to receive the contents of a truck tipper.
- Another object of the invention is to increase the flexibility of use of the sorting device, by making it possible to use on the same device a variable number of operators not specialized in sorting a single category of objects.
- Another object of the invention is to improve the quality of sorting, by facilitating the carrying out of an exhaustive sorting of the recoverable parts contained in the waste to be sorted.
- a device for manual sorting of waste comprises at least one operator station arranged on the periphery of a closed-loop presentation system, with means for causing the waste to be sorted on the presentation system. Furthermore, according to the invention:
- the presentation system is a turntable in the form of a generally circular and horizontal crown, limited by an outer edge and by an inner edge, and driven in rotation about a coaxial vertical axis by motor means,
- - means for receiving and evacuating waste are arranged in the vicinity of at least one of the internal or external edges, - adjustable pushing means make it possible to push radially at will and in an adjustable manner the waste on the turntable at least towards the outer edge, to bring them as close as possible to the outer edge and make them accessible by the operator occupying the operator position, - the adjustable pushing means allow the waste to be pushed radially and gradually at will on the turntable until at least one of the interior or exterior edges, and pouring them into the means for receiving and removing waste,
- the operator station includes at least one reception and evacuation structure for selected waste shaped and arranged to receive and evacuate the waste selected by the operator occupying the operator position.
- the turntable can have a substantial width, greater than that allowing an operator to have access to the entire waste zone which passes in front of him on the turntable.
- the waste can indeed be gradually pushed radially towards the outer edge of the turntable by the pushing means, to be brought to a distance making them accessible by the operator.
- the adjustable pusher means comprise at least a first orientable flap, placed in a fixed zone above the turntable, and suitable for scraping the waste carried by the turntable and for deflecting it radially at least in direction of the outer edge, with means for actuating the first orientable flap to control its orientation and the deflection of the waste which results therefrom, possibly until their selective dumping at the periphery of the plate in means for receiving and evacuating waste.
- the adjustable pusher means optionally comprise at least one second orientable flap, placed in a fixed zone above the turntable, and suitable for scraping the waste carried by the turntable and for diverting it radially up to 'at the inner edge, with means for actuating the second orientable flap to control its orientation and the resulting deflection of waste.
- the second orientable flap then makes it possible to selectively discharge the waste into means for receiving and evacuating waste placed in the central space.
- An advantageous possibility consists in grouping the first flap and the second flap into one and the same orientable flap.
- the waste is brought to a closed loop presentation system to pass near at least one operator station occupied by an operator performing manual sorting.
- the presentation system is a turntable in the form of a generally circular and horizontal crown.
- the waste present on the turntable is gradually pushed towards the periphery of the turntable to bring them closer to the operator who removes the selected waste from the turntable.
- the unselected waste is pushed either towards the center to pour into the central space of the turntable by which it is then evacuated, or towards the periphery of the turntable towards a discharge chute through which it are then evacuated.
- FIG. l is a schematic overview in perspective of a waste sorting device according to a first embodiment of the present invention.
- FIG. 1 is a side sectional view of the sorting device of Figure 1;
- FIG. 3 is a top view of the sorting device of Figure 1;
- FIG. 5 illustrates in perspective the sorting device of Figure 1 in the orientable flap open position for the diversion of waste
- FIG. 6 is a side view in diametral partial section on a larger scale in the periphery area of the device of Figure 1;
- FIG. 7 illustrates in perspective a waste sorting device according to a second embodiment of the invention, with the flap adjustable in the closed position;
- FIG. 8 illustrates in perspective the device of Figure 7 with the adjustable flap in the partial open position for deflection of waste.
- the manual waste sorting device comprises a turntable 1, in the form of a generally circular and horizontal crown, limited by an outer edge. 2 and an inner edge 3.
- the inner edge 3 surrounds a central space 4 in which are possibly housed means for receiving and removing waste, which will be described later.
- the turntable 1 is carried by a frame 30 (FIGS. 2 and 6) and is driven in rotation about a vertical axis II coaxial by motor means comprising a motor 5 and an appropriate transmission, as illustrated in FIG. 2.
- motor means comprising a motor 5 and an appropriate transmission, as illustrated in FIG. 2.
- the motor 5 can drive the turntable l in both directions of rotation 26 and 27 shown in Figure 3.
- the direction of rotation is chosen by an operator.
- a loading belt 6 makes it possible to bring the waste to be sorted onto the turntable 1.
- the loading belt 6 can advantageously be upward, to bring the waste from the ground and raise it above the level of the turntable 1 for the then pour onto the turntable 1 into a loading area 7.
- the inner edge 3 of the turntable 1 is surmounted by an inner wall 8 which is generally cylindrical and coaxial, which can advantageously be provided with an opening 9 which can be closed off by an orientable flap 10.
- the orientable flap 10 is curved into an arc of a cylinder, and is articulated around a vertical axis of rotation II-II along one of its vertical edges 11.
- the vertical axis of rotation II- It is preferably a generator of the cylinder forming the inner wall 8, thus located in the vicinity of the inner edge 3 of the turntable 1.
- the flap 10 is adjustable in any intermediate position between a folded position illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4 , in which it closes the opening 9 of the interior wall 8, and a deployed position illustrated in FIG. 5 and in dotted lines in FIG. 3, in which it is pivoted above the turntable 1 away from the opening 9.
- the adjustable flap 10 is thus placed in a fixed area above the turntable 1, and it is
- Actuating means such as a jack 12, advantageously arranged in the central space 4, make it possible to control the orientation of the orientable flap 10 so as to be adjustable in any intermediate position between the folded position and the deployed position, and to control thus the resulting deviation of the waste carried by the turntable 1.
- the orientable flap 10 In the folded position as illustrated in FIGS. 3 or 4, the orientable flap 10 authorizes the complete loading of the turntable 1. In the deployed position illustrated in FIG. 5, the orientable flap 10 radially deflects the waste resting on the turntable 1 during the rotation of said turntable 1.
- the outer edge 2 of the turntable 1 is advantageously surrounded by a fixed peripheral portion 13 raised, tending to avoid the untimely exit of the waste towards the periphery of the turntable 1, and constituting a fixed support for the operator or operators.
- the peripheral portion 13 is integral with the frame 30 on which the turntable 1 rotates.
- the means for receiving and evacuating waste in the central space 4 comprise for example a linear evacuation mat 14, a portion 15 of which passes under the central space 4, and which conducts the waste collected in the central space 4 to an outlet 16 discharging them, for example into a bin 17.
- the waste can advantageously be guided by inclined faces, not shown, as far as the part 15 of the discharge conveyor 14.
- the operator station 18 comprises at least one structure for receiving and discharging selected waste, shaped and arranged to receive and evacuate the selected waste by the operator.
- the operator station 18 is associated with two structures 19 and 20 for receiving and removing selected waste. It may for example be interchangeable trays which are removed when they are full.
- FIGS. 2 and 6 illustrate another embodiment of such a structure for receiving and discharging selected waste.
- This structure is in particular better represented in FIGS. 2 and 6: at least one lower peripheral opening 21 is then provided, provided below the fixed peripheral portion 13, and connected by an inclined ramp 22 to means for discharging the selected waste.
- the inclined ramp 22 leads the selected waste to a fixed coaxial lower plate 23 associated with a squeegee 24 driven by the turntable 1 to push the selected waste towards at least one outlet formed in the fixed lower plate 23 for their evacuation.
- the turntable 1 is preferably dimensioned to receive a volume of waste corresponding to the content of a dumpster truck for collecting garbage or industrial waste.
- a turntable 1 whose outside diameter is about 8 meters, with a central space 4 whose diameter is about 3 meters.
- the inner wall 8 can advantageously have a height of 80 to 100 centimeters.
- the adjustable shutter 10 advantageously has a dimension such that, in the open position shown in FIG. 5, its free edge 25 is located in the vicinity of the outer edge 2 of the turntable 1.
- the operation of such a manual sorting device is as follows.
- the orientable flap 10 is in the closed position as illustrated in FIG. 4.
- the turntable 1 is rotated in the sorting direction 26, and the loading belt 6 transports the waste to be sorted and pours it onto the turntable 1 in the loading area 7.
- the waste is piled up on the turntable 1, to an appropriate height, less than the height of the interior wall 8.
- the operator or operators placed around the turntable 1 can then start the sorting operation by selecting certain types of waste in the accessible waste zone close to the outer edge 2, and moving them by hand to introduce them into the reception and disposal structures for selected waste such as the bins 19 or 20 or in the opening 21.
- the height of the waste present on the turntable l tends to decrease.
- the adjustable shutter 10 is then actuated to open it, while the turntable 1 rotates in the sorting direction illustrated by the arrow 26 in FIG. 3. In this direction of rotation, the adjustable shutter 10 deflects the waste carried by the turntable 1 towards the outer edge 2, and thus brings them closer to the operator (s), who can then reach them to continue manual sorting.
- the manual sorting operation can continue, by rotating the turntable 1, until the selection of the types of waste chosen is complete.
- the rotation of the turntable 1 is reversed, to cause it to rotate in the emptying direction illustrated by the arrow 27 in FIG. 3, and the complete opening of the orientable flap 10 is continued until position open as illustrated in FIG. 5 or dotted in FIG. 3.
- the unselected waste which is still present on the turntable 1 is deflected by the orientable flap 10 in the direction of the interior edge 3, and they pass through the opening 9 of the interior wall 8 to penetrate into the central space 4 into which they flow onto the discharge conveyor 14.
- the device according to the invention uses the main means of the embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 6, and the means which are used are identified by the same reference numbers.
- the turntable 1 limited by an outer edge 2 and by an inner edge 3, with an inner wall 8 generally cylindrical, part of which has an opening 9 closed by an orientable flap 10 pivoting about its vertical edge 11.
- the jack 12 makes it possible to orient the orientable flap 10 between a closed position, shown in FIG. 7, a partial open position shown in FIG. 8, and a total open position similar to that shown in dotted lines in the figure. 3.
- the means for receiving and evacuating waste 14 are arranged on the periphery of the turntable 1, and comprise for example a downward chute 14a communicating with the outer edge 2 of the turntable 1 by an opening 14b provided in the raised peripheral portion 13, and leading the waste to a lifting belt 14c which pours it through its outlet end 16 into the tank 17.
- the adjustable flap 10 is adapted to selectively allow waste to be discharged into the waste reception and discharge means 14 placed on the periphery.
- the orientable flap 10 When the orientable flap 10 is fully open, the turntable 1 being driven in rotation in the sorting direction 26 illustrated in FIG. 8, the orientable flap 10 deflects the waste and pours it out on the periphery into the receiving means and d waste disposal 14.
- the means for receiving and discharging waste 14 can advantageously be arranged under the loading belt 6, so as to reduce the space occupied around the turntable 1, thus reserving the maximum space for the operators performing the sorting.
- the turntable 1 can be driven in one direction of rotation 26, since the only variation of orientation of the orientable flap 10 makes it possible to ensure the two functions of radial and progressive movement of the waste during sorting, and of dumping of the waste into the means of reception and evacuation of waste 14.
- the central space 4 can be very reduced or even canceled, if other means are provided for supporting and moving the orientable flap 10.
- the orientable flap 10 can then, for example, be carried by a central upright or by a bracket connecting it to the frame 30, and it can be displaceable in vertical translation and in pivoting of vertical axis.
- variable speed drive of the turntable 1 the speed being able to be selected according to the sorting steps, according to the number of operators, and according to the type of waste to select.
