Abstract
Gegenstand der Erfindung ist eine thermoplastische Formmasse enthaltend bezogen auf die Gesamtmasse a) 10-50 Gewichtsprozent eines Copolymerisats aus Ethylen, einem Vinylester, einer C2-C4 Alkancarbonsäure und/oder eines C1-C4 Alkylesters, einer C3-C5 Alkencarbonsäure; b) 10-40 Gewichtsprozent eines Ethylenpolymerisats aus 97-85 Gewichtsprozent Ethylen und 3-15 Gewichtsprozent eines C4-C10 1-Olefins, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß (i) 3-50 Gewichtsprozent eines annähernd linearen Ethylenpolymerisats mit einem C3-C20 1-Olefin enthalten sind, wobei das lineare Ethylenpolymerisat 0,01-3 Seitenketten mit größer gleich 6 Kohlenstoffatomen pro 1000 Kohlenstoffatome besitzt, ein Schmelz-/Fließindexverhältnis von I10/I2 größer gleich 5,63 gemessen nach ASTM-1238 besitzt, eine Molekulargewichtsverteilung von Mw/Mn von 1,5 zu 2,5 besitzt und eine kritische Scherspannung beim Beginn des Rohschmelzbruchs von kleiner 4 x 106 dyne/cm2 besitzt oder (ii) ein thermoplastischer Kautschuk oder ein Gemisch derselben enthalten sind. Die thermoplastischen Formmassen dienen insbesondere zur Herstellung von Dichtungsbahnen.
Description
Thermoplastische Formmasse, Verfahren zu ihrer Herstellung und ihre Verwendung
Gegenstand der Erfindung ist eine thermoplastische Formmasse enthaltend, bezogen auf die Gesamtmasse 10 bis 50 Gewichtsprozent eines Copolymerisats aus Ethylen, einem Vinylester, einer C2 - C _ Alkancarbonsäure und/oder eines C± - C4 Alkylesters, einer C3 - C5 Alkencarbonsäure und 10 - 40 Gewichtsprozent eines Ethylenpolymerisats aus Ethylen und 1- Olefin.
Die thermoplastischen Formmassen dienen beispielsweise zur Herstellung von Dichtungsbahnen für den Hoch-und Tiefbau.
Aus dem Stand der Technik sind bereits thermoplastsiche Formmassen bekannt.
Die DE-OS 23 53 439 beschreibt Stoffmischungen auf der Basis von Ethylencopolymerisaten und Bitumen. Diese Stoffmischungen bestehen aus einem Ethylencopolymerisat eines ethylenisch ungesättigten Comonomeren und Bitumen, wobei die Stoffmischung zusätzlich ein Metallsalz einer gesättigten aliphatischen Carbonsäure enthält.
Die DE-PS 25 106 97 beschreibt Formmassen auf der Basis von Bitumen und Alkylencopolymerisaten. Diese Formmassen enthalten neben Bitumen ein Copolymerisat aus Olefin und ungesättigten Carbonsäuren, wobei zusätzlich noch aliphatische Alkohole mit mindestens 14 Kohlenstoffatomen enthalten sind. Die so beschriebenen Formmassen eignen sich als Korrosionsschutz für beliebige Gegenstände und zur Herstellung elastischer Korrisionsschutzbinden für Rohrleitungen. Sie sind besonders geeignet zur Herstellung von Dachdichtungsbahnen, die mit Glasvliesgewebe kaschiert werden. Sie können auch in feinteiliger Form zur Herstellung von Überzügen nach dem Wirbelsinter- und Flammspritzverfahren
verwendet werden. Die Formmassen finden auch Anwendung im Hoch- und Tiefbau.
Die EP-OS 0 064 630 beschreibt flammhemmende thermoplastische Formmassen auf Basis von Polyolefin-Bitumen-Mischungen und deren Verwendung zur Herstellung von Formkörpern, insbesondere von Abdichtungsbahnen für den Hoch- und Tiefbau. Die thermoplastischen Formmassen bestehen aus einem Copolymerisat des Ethylens mit Vinylacetat, Butylacrylat, Propylen oder 1-Buten, Bitumen, Aluminiumhydroxid und rotem Phosphor sowie gegebenenfalls weiteren Zusatzstoffen wie Ruß und/oder Glycerinmonostearat. Diese Formmassen werden zur Herstellung von Formkörpern, insbesondere von Abdichtungsbahnen für den Hoch- und Tiefbau, verwendet.
Die DE-OS 33 19 844 beschreibt ebenfalls thermoplastische Formmassen auf Basis von Bitumen-Ethylenpolymerisat- Mischungen und deren Verwendung zur Herstellung von Formkörpern, insbesondere von Abdichtungsbahnen für den Hoch- und Tiefbau. Die thermoplastischen Formmassen bestehen aus einem Ethylencopolymerisat eines Vinylesters einer Alkancarbonsäure und/oder eines Alkylesters einer Alkencarbonsäure sowie Bitumen und einem Ethylencopolymerisat, das neben Ethylen C4 - CIQ alpha- Olefine enthält. Weiterhin können Zuschlagsstoffe wie Ruß, Glycerinmonstearat und übliche Füllstoffe verwendet werden.
Die aus dem Stand der Technik bekannten thermoplastischen Formmassen sind bezüglich ihrer UV-Stabilität, Witterungsbeständigkeit, Haltbarkeit und Spannungsrißbestän¬ digkeit noch erheblich verbesserungsfähig.
Es war daher das technische Problem der Erfindung, eine thermoplastische Formmasse zu entwickeln, die eine bessere UV-Stabilität, eine bessere Spannungsrißbeständigkeit und eine bessere Witterungsbeständigkeit besitzt und über
erheblich längere Zeiträume ohne Veränderungen lagerungsfähig und haltbar ist.
Dieses technische Problem wird gelöst durch den Zusatz von
(i) 3 - 50 Gewichtsprozent eines annähernd linearen Ethylenpolymerisats mit einem C3 - C20 1-Olefin, wobei das lineare Ethylenpolymerisat 0,01 - 3 Seitenketten mit größer gleich 6 Kohlenstoffatomen pro 1000 Kohlenstoffatome besitzt, ein Schmelz-/Fließindexverhältnis von I^Q / *2 größer gleich 5,63 gemessen nach ASTM-1238 besitzt, eine Molekulargewichtsverteilung von Mw / Mn von 1,5 zu 2,5 besitzt und eine kritische Scherspannung beim Beginn des Rohschmelzbruchs von kleiner 4 x 10*^ dyne/cm2 besitzt
oder
(ii) einen thermoplastischen Kautschuk oder ein Gemisch derselben enthalten sind.
Unter annähernd linearen Ethylenpolymeren werden solche verstanden, die pro 1000 Kohlenstoffatome 0,01 bis 3 Seitenketten enthalten, wobei diese Seitenketten wenigstens 6 Kohlenstoffatome besitzen. Wenn mehr als 6 Kohlenstoffatome vorhanden sind, kann deren Länge mittels -*-*^C NMR Spektroskopie nicht unterschieden werden. Daher können die Seitenketten genauso lang sein wie die polymere Hauptkette. Die Ermittlung der Verzweigung der Kette erfolgt mit Hilfe der -*■*-*C NMR Spektroskopie und ist quantifizierbar nach dem Verfahren von Randall (Rev. Macromol. Chem. Phys., C 29 (2,3), Seite 285 - 297).
Unter Molekulargewichtsverteilung wird eine Eigenschaft der Polymere verstanden. Die Molekulargewichtsverteilung wird beschrieben als Verhältnis des Gewiπhts der Fraktionen mit durchschnittlichem Molekulargewicht ( W) zur Anzahl der Fraktionen mit durchschnittlichen Molekulargewicht (Mn). Die
Verteilung kann direkt beispielsweise mittels Gelpermeationschromatographie oder routinemäßig durch Messung des Iιo I2 Verhältnisses, wie beschrieben in ASTMD-238, erfolgen.
Die Messung der Scherspannung erfolgt mit einem Extrusionsriometer wie beschrieben in WO-A 93/08221, Seiten 11 bis 13.
Die Herstellung der annähernd linearen Ethylenpolymerisate erfolgt durch Polymerisation in der Gasphase in Suspensionen, Lösung oder Emulsionen mit einem Katalysator, sowie einem aktivierenden Cokatalysator. Als Katalysator wird eine Metallkomplexverbindung verwendet, die als Liganden eine Cyclopentadienylgruppe enthält. Die Herstellung der annähernd linearen Ethylenpolymerisate und die Herstellung und Beschreibung der für die Polymerisation verwendeten Katalysatoren und Cokatalysatoren ist der WO-A 93/08221 zu entnehmen. Auf diese Druckschrift wird daher vollinhaltlich Bezug genommen.
Ein bevorzugtes annähernd lineares Ethylenpolymerisat ist als Handelsprodukt der DOW Chemical Co., Midland/USA unter der Bezeichnung "Engage" im Handel erhältlich.
Besonders bevorzugt ist das "Engage EG 8200", das ein annähernd lineares, 1-Octen enthaltendes Ethylenpolymerisat ist. Es besitzt die in der folgenden Tabelle 1 beschriebenen Eigenschaften:

In einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform enthält die thermoplastische Formmasse ein Copolymerisat aus Ethylen, Vinylacetat und/oder Butylacrylat.
Das Verhältnis von Ethylen zu Vinylester liegt vorzugsweise bei 70:30 bis 90:10. Das Verhältnis zwischen Ethylen und Alkylester liegt bevorzugt bei 60:40 bis 80:20.
In den thermoplastischen Formmassen können zusätzlich bis zu 15 Gewichtsprozent Füllstoffe, Farbpigmente und Stabilisa¬ toren enthalten sein, wie sie üblicherweise in derartigen thermoplastischen Formmassen verwendet werden.
Weiterhin kann ein Anteil von bis zu 30 Gewichtsprozent Bitumen enthalten sein, wobei unter Bitumen die in der DIN 55946 definierten, bei schonender Aufarbeitung von Erdölen gewonnenen, dunkelfarbigen, halbfesten bis springharten, schmelzbaren, hochmolekularen Kohlenwasserstoffgemische ver¬ standen werden. Es können selbstverständlich auch handelsüb¬ liche natürliche Bitumensorten verwendet werden. Besonders
bevorzugt sind geblasene Bitumenmassen oder mittels Hochvakuumdesti1lation gewonnene*Hartbitumenmassen.
In einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform enthält das Ethylenpolymerisat als l-01efin 1-Octen.
In der thermoplastischen Formmasse können besonders bevorzugt 30 Gewichtsprozent Ethylenpolymerisat, 20 Gewichtsprozent Ethylenalkylesterpolymerisat und 30 Gewichtsprozent Ethylen- vinylesterpolymerisat enthalten sein. In einer weiteren bevorzugten Ausführungsform enthält das annähernd lineare Ethylenpolymerisat als olefinische Verbindungen 1-Octen, 1- Hexen, 1-Buten, 4-Methyl-l-penten oder Gemische derselben.
Als thermoplastischer Kautschuk wird ein Kautschuk verwendet, der aus drei verschiedenen Blöcken des linearen A-B-A Typs aufgebaut ist. Diese A-B-A Struktur besteht aus Polystyrol- Endblöcken und einem elastomeren Mittelblock aus einem Copolymeren eines C2 bis C5 Alkens mit einem C2 bis C5 Alken, bevorzugt Ethyleή/Butylen Copolymer (SEBS). Diese Kautschuk¬ massen besitzen sowohl elastomere als auch thermoplastische Eigenschaften und sind unter der Bezeichnung "Kraton G" im Handel erhältlich.
Ein weiterer Gegenstand der Erfindung ist ein Verfahren zur Herstellung der erfindungsgemäßen thermoplastischen Formmassen, welches dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, daß die einzelnen Bestandteile mittels Kneter, Rührwerken, Walzwerken oder Extrudern zunächst homogenisiert werden und bei Temperaturen von 140-250 °C weiterverarbeitet werden. Die thermoplastischen Formmassen finden Verwendung zur Herstellung von Formkörpern und Folien, insbesondere für Dichtungsbahnen für Dächer, Tunnel, Deponien, Hochbau, Tiefbau und Straßenbau. Ein weiterer Gegenstand der Erfindung sind Dichtungsbahnen, die aus den thermoplastischen erfindungsgemäßen Formmassen bestehen.
Diese Dichtungsbahnen können in unterschiedlicher Breite gefertigt werden und sind auch .in unterschiedlichen Farben wie z.B. weiß, grün oder erdfarben erhältlich. Die Vorteile derart gefärbter Bahnen liegen darin, daß sie sich weniger von der Umgebung abheben und weiterhin z.B. im Falle von hellen Dachbahnen niedrigere Reflektionsgrade besitzen gegenüber schwarzen Dachbahnen.
Die Herstellung dieser Bahnen erfolgt meist unter Verwendung von einwelligen Extrudern mit einer davor befindlichen Breitschlitzdüse. Damit wird das Produkt in der gewünschten Breite gefertigt und über ein nachfolgendes meist dreiwalziges Glättwerk geglättet. Gegebenenfalls kann die Oberfläche durch Strukturierung mit einer Walze gewaffelt oder sonstwie strukturiert werden, um damit gegenüber dem Untergrund eine bessere Haftung zu erzielen.
Die einwelligen Extruder verfügen meistens über eine Entgasungszone, um eventuell anhaftende Oberflächenfeuchte in der Schmelze abziehen zu können und eine höhere Produktquali¬ tät zu erzielen. Je nach Technologie werden diese Bahnen an¬ schließend auf das verlangte Breitenmaß geschnitten. Grundsätzlich werden die Bahnen immer etwas breiter angefertigt, als das vorgegeben Endmaß es verlangt. Dies erfolgt, indem man über sogenannte Randstreifenabschneidevor¬ richtungen ein wirklich definiertes Breitenmaß erhält. Die gewonnenen Randstreifen werden über beigestellte Schneidvor¬ richtungen kleingeschnitten und dem Granulat wieder zugeführt, so daß man keinerlei Abfälle hat.
Zur Erhöhung der Festigkeit können die Bahnen mit einem Vlies versehen werden. Das Vlies wird nach dem heutigen Stand der Technik bevorzugt mittig in die Folie eingebracht, es gibt aber auch noch ältere Techniken, bei denen das Vlies an der Unterseite der Folie mit aufkaschiert wird. Als Vliesgewebe werden üblicherweise Fasergewebe aus Glas, Polyester, Polyamid, Baumwolle, Metall, Cellulose, Polypropylen, Po-
lyethylen, Polyacrylnitril, schmelzflüssig verdüsten Gesteinen oder Schlacken und anderen organischen und anorganischen Faserstoffen verwendet. Bevorzugt werden Kunststoffgewebe und Glasfasergewebe eingesetzt.
Derartige Dichtungsbahnen aus dem erfindungsgemäßen ther¬ moplastischen Material besitzen hervorragende Eigenschaften, insbesondere hohe Spannungsrißbeständigkeit, bessere Witte¬ rungsbeständigkeit, eine Haltbarkeit über lange Zeit sowie hohe UV-Stabilität.
Die folgenden Beispiele sollen die Erfindung näher erläutern.
Ausführungsbeiεpiele
Beispiel: 1
Herstellung der thermoplastischen Formmasse
Man mischt 20 Gewichtsprozent Ethylenbutylacrylatcopolymer mit einem Copolymer Anteil von 27 Gewichtsprozent und einem Schmelzindex gemessen nach 190/2,16 von 5. Es werden weiterhin zugegeben 30 Gewichtsprozent Ethylenvinylacetatco- polymer mit einem Copolymer Gehalt von 18 Gewichtsprozent und einem Schmelzindex gemessen nach 190/2,16 von 2. Zu diesen Copolymerisaten werden 30 Gewichtsprozent eines linearen Polyethylens niedriger Dichte mit einem Gehalt von 8 Gewichtsprozenten Octen gegeben. Zu diesem Gemisch werden weiterhin als Zusatzstoffe 5,3 Gewichtsprozent Titandioxyd, 10,4 Gewichtsprozent Talcu und 4,2 Gewichtsprozent eines Weißbrechers hinzugegeben.
Das so erhaltenen Gemisch wird homogenisiert und anschließend extrudiert und so ein gewünschter Formkörper hergestellt.
Beispiel : 2
Herstellung einer Dichtungsbahn
Die in Beispiel 1 hergestellte thermoplastische Formmasse wird in einen einwelligen Extruder gegeben mit einer davor befindlichen Breitschlitzdüse. Das gewünschte Produkt wird extrudiert und über ein nachfolgendes dreiwalziges Glättwerk geglättet. Zusätzlich wird die Oberfläche mit einer strukturierten Walze gewaffelt. Der Extruder verfügt über eine Entgasungszone, die anhaftende Oberflächenfeuchte in der Schmelze abzieht. Die Bahnen werden anschließend auf das Breitenmaß geschnitten, z.B. von 2,40 m auf 1,04 m breite Bahnen für den Dachbereich.
Claims
1. Thermoplastische Formmasse enthaltend bezogen auf die Gesamtmasse
a) 10 - 50 Gewichtsprozent eines Copolymerisats aus Ethylen, einem Vinylester, einer C2 - C4 Alkancarbonsäure und/oder eines Ci - C4 Alkylestes einer C3 - C5 Alkencarbonsäure.
b) 10 - 40 Gewichtsprozent eines Ethylenpolymerisats aus 97 - 85 Gewichtsprozent Ethylen und 3 - 15 Gewichtsprozent eines c4 " 10 1-Olefins,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß
(i) 3 - 50 Gewichtsprozent eines annähernd linearen Ethylenpolymerisats mit einem C3 - C20 1-Olefin enthalten sind, wobei das lineare Ethylenpolymerisat 0,01 - 3 Seitenketten mit größer gleich 6 Kohlenstoffatomen pro 1000 Kohlenstoffatome besitzt, ein Schmelz-/Fließindexverhältnis von Iio / I2 größer gleich 5,63 gemessen nach ASTM-1238 besitzt, eine Molekulargewichtsverteilung von Mw / Mn von 1,5 zu 2,5 besitzt und eine kritische Scherspannung beim Beginn des Rohschmelzbruchs von kleiner 4 x 106 dyne/cm2 besitzt
oder
(ii) ein thermoplastischer Kautschuk oder ein Gemisch derselben enthalten sind.
2. Thermoplastische Formmasse gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß öas Copolymerisat aus Ethylen, Vinylacetat und/oder Butylacrylat besteht.
3. Thermoplastische Formmasse gemäß Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Verhältnis Ethylen zu Vinylester 70:30 bis 90:10 und das Verhältnis Ethylen zu Alkylester 60 : 40 bis 80 : 20 ist.
4. Thermoplastische Formmasse gemäß Anspruch 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß zusätzlich bis zu 15 Gewichtsprozent Füllstoffe, Farbpigmente, Stabilisatoren, Antioxydanzien, Flammschutzmittel und Weißbrecher enthalten sind.
5. Thermoplastische Formmasse gemäß Anspruch 1 bis 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß bis zu 30 Gewichtsprozent Bitumen enthalten sind.
6. Thermoplastische Formmasse gemäß Anspruch 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Ethylenpolymerisat 1-Octen enthält.
7. Thermoplastische Formmasse gemäß Anspruch 1 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß sie aus 30 Gewichtsprozent Ethylenpolyme¬ risat, 20 Gewichtsprozent Ethylenalkylesterpolymerisat und 30 Gewichtsprozent Ethylenvinylesterpolymerisat besteht.
8. Thermoplastische Formmasse gemäß Anspruch 1 bis 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das annähernd lineare Ethylenpolymerisat 1-Octen, 1-Hexen, 1-Buten und 4 Methyl-1-penten oder Gemische derselben enthält.
9. Thermoplastische Formmasse gemäß Anspruch 1 bis 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß als thermoplastischer Kautschuk ein Styrol - C2 bis C5 Alken/C2 bis C5 Alken - Styrol Kautschuk enthalten ist.
10. Verfahren zur Herstellung der thermoplastischen Formmassen nach den Anspruch 1 bis 9, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die einzelnen Bestandteile mittels Kneter, Rührwerken, Walzwerken und Extrudern homogenisiert werden und bei Temperaturen von 140 - 150°C geschmolzen werden.
11. Verwendung der thermoplastischen Formmasse nach Anspruch
I bis 9 zur Herstellung von Formkörpern und Folien.
12. Verwendung der termoplastsischen Formmasse gemäß Anspruch
II für Dichtungsbahneh für Dächer, Tunnel, Deponien, Hochbau, Tiefbau und Straßenbau.
13. Dichtungsbahnen enthaltend die thermoplastischen Formmas¬ sen gemäß Anspruch 1 bis 9.
