Abstract

Un outil d'usinage avec enlèvement de copeaux pourvu d'un corps tranchant (2), qui effectue l'usinage avec enlèvement de copeaux et est par conséquent sujet à l'usure et d'un support (4) du corps tranchant, comprend une couche d'une substance (5) qui absorbe et/ou émet sélectivement à des longueurs d'ondes spécifiques un rayonnement électromagnétique, ladite couche étant agencée entre le corps tranchant (2) et le support (4) du corps tranchant, encastrée dans une couche d'un autre matériau (4) ou constituant une couche de revêtement (42) d'un support indicateur (41) qui forme un élément séparé relié au corps tranchant (2). Afin de mesurer l'usure, un dispositif émetteur (11, 12, 13) qui produit un faisceau lumineux de manière sélective est orienté vers l'élément de coupe (2) et un dispositif récepteur (14, 15, 16) qui reçoit le faisceau de manière sélective est orienté vers l'outil (1) de manière à recevoir le faisceau envoyé par l'émetteur vers l'outil (11) et le faisceau reflété par l'outil, produisant ainsi un signal d'indication (S1, S2, S3).
