Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect wear of a tool by applying a voltage between a work and a tool holding member so as to detect any contact of the work with the conductive tool holding member which holds the non-conductive tool thereon. CONSTITUTION:A voltage is applied from a power source 36 between a conductive honing tool 7 which holds a non-conductive grind stone 6 thereon and a jig 4 which holds a work 5 thereon. Relays 22, 23 are provided in parallel with a relay 21 between the power source 36 on the one hand and the tool 7 and the work 5 on the other hand and are connected to contacts of supply circuits for detecting circuits 24, 25, 26, 27, rspectively. If the grind stone 6 is abraded sufficiently to bring the honing tool 7 and the work into contact with each other, the relay 21 is energized to open a normally open contact 28 so that an operation stop circuit operates to stop the machine. In prior to initiation of working, a switch 78 is thrown in to inspect that there is no leak caused by cuttings or the like. If there is a disconnection in the circuitry, the relay 22 which has a lower rated operating voltage is deenergized so that a Line break indication 25 is effected.
