Abstract

PURPOSE:To electrically detect if the flange of an object to be measured has contacted the end surface of an adapter correctly and locate the object to be measured accurately by providing a pair of detecting rings and an electric contact sensor. CONSTITUTION:When the flange 10 of the object to be measured (cutting tool) 2 contacts correctly to the entire surfaces of the projecting contactors 11 of two detecting rings 3 and 4, the contact terminals 12 and 13 of an electric contact sensor 5 which contact the back faces of the detecting rings 3 and 4 become a contact state. As a result, a prescribed current flows to a lamp 17 from a power source 14 connected in series to these contact terminals 12 and 13 via a resistor 16 and the lamp 17 lights immediately, showing that the center line of the object to be measured 2 has been aligned with the center line of the gauge adapter (holding chuck) 1 of the headstock accurately.
