Definitions

  • the invention relates to a kit for retrofitting insulating glazing to existing single or multiple glazed windows, doors or the like. with a single pane of glass and arranged all around at its edges and thus - with the interposition of a seal - inseparably connected, hollow, a molecular sieve receiving spacer strips, which are also inseparably placed with the interposition of a seal on the existing glazing and with a lamination frame for the end cover.
  • Insulating glazings have become known which consist of two glass panes which are fixedly spaced apart from one another by means of spacer strips and are airtight or water vapor-tight. If existing single glazing in doors or windows is to be replaced by such insulating glazing, a considerable amount of work is required. The existing putty joints must be expanded after the existing glazing has been removed. According to special regulations, the insulating glazing must then be reinserted into the expanded putty joints. In order to save or significantly reduce the associated work or cost, double glazing has become known in which, in addition to the existing glazing, a hinged glazing solution is attached to the door or window frame. This is done in order to be able to remove dirt or moisture from the space between the two glass panes as a result of leaks. Although the existing glazing can be retained, the installation of the additional glass pane must be carried out by experts, just like the installation of the finished double glazing. If laypeople tried to create this double glazing using the do-it-yourself process, subsequent disturbances in the double glazing would be inevitable.

  • Hygroscopic material is arranged in the hollow spacers as a so-called molecular sieve.

  • kit for insulating glazing of windows, doors or the like, which already have single glazing has become known.
  • This kit is characterized by a single glass pane with circumferentially arranged and releasably connected spacer strips at its edges for mounting on the already existing single glazing
  • the present invention is therefore based on the object of creating a kit for retrofitting insulating glazing of the type mentioned above, by which a layperson is repaired, with great certainty even attaching double glazing to existing single and multiple glazed windows and doors.
  • the spacer strips can be offered in different lengths. They can then be shortened to the length required after purchase. The spacers are matched to the dimensions of the spacer strips. At the same time, they completely fill the space between the spacer strips. Because channels for receiving sealing material are provided on the surfaces of the spacer strips and spacers facing the glass panes, this sealing material is easy to apply, without the previously unavoidable smearing that will later be visible through the glass panes.
  • the intermediate pieces between their insertion ends have a center piece which is reinforced with respect to the dimensions of the spacer strips and against which the end faces of the walls of the hollow spacer strips lie. If intermediate pieces and spacer strips are therefore put together, a so-called spacing frame can be created which has end faces or boundary surfaces lying in one plane with respect to the glass panes.
