Be it known that I, JOHN R. DAVIS, ot' the city and State of New York, have invented a Design for Gimp and Fringe Heads, of which the following; is a. speeification:
Gimps and fringe headings have been made with longitudinal warps of uniform, or nearly uniiorm, character, and the weft-threads 0r fillings have been various. in some instances silk-covered cords and braids have been employed both in gimp-trimmings and gimpheadings for t'ringes as the weft or transverse fillings.
The present invention relates to the ornamental design of the gimp or fringe heading resulting from the employment ot'sill -e0ve.red twisted braid oreord, forming the longitudinal warps, or a portion of them, whereby the appearance of the hinge is made much more handsome than by the single warps heretofore employed, that are not sutlieiently prominent to be specially noticeable.
in the drawing I have illustrated the said design by a view representing the gimp alone and as a heading to a fringe.
The gimp a. is to be of any desired pattern, so far as the transverse threads, eords, or wet'ts, and the same may be part of or term the heading of the fringe 11.
The twisted silk-eorered cords or braids 0 run longitudinally through the gimp or headthe same, and these cords may he nssot'inted with warps 11, ot' the ordinary eharaeter. n der any circumstances th se sill; '('U\'('lt'li warps are oisueh a sixeas to he prominent as eords or braids.
