UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH W. FISKE, ()1? NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESlGN FOR ORNAMENTAL VASE.
Specification forming part of Design No. 7,434, dated May 12, 1874 application filed April '21, 1874. [Term of Patent 7 years] (JASE H.
To all whom. it may concern:
Be it known that I, J. W. FIsKE, of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in Design for an Ornamental Vase, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my design is fully illustrated in the aceompanyin g photograph, to which reference is made.
This is a design for an ornamental vase for holding plants, or any similar purpose, in pleasure-grounds, door-yards, 8:0. The bowl of the vase consists of a shallow body, 0,0011- stricted or reduced in diameter at its center, with its upper portion curved outward some distance beyond the sides of the lower portion, and terminating in a serrated edge or border. On opposite sides are ornamental handles D, as shown in the illustration. This bowl is supported on a body, B, which decreases in diameter at its center, where it is surrounded by a molding, b, and terminating above in a scalloped edge or head, b, above which is another molding, a, this body being grooved or fluted perpendicularly. At the bottom, the body rests on a rectangular base, to which it is joined by an oval convex 1nolding,A, which is ornamented on its surface by raised figures, with a small vertical and plain surface, a, at which point the outward curvature of the body B at its lower end terminates. The under portion or surface of the bowl 0 is also ornamented with leaves in relief, the whole forming, as shown in the photograph, a very elegant design for a vase.
What I claim as my invent-ion is- A design for a vase, substantially as shown and described.
