UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH NV. FISKE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESlGN FOR ORNAMENTAL VASE.
Specification forming part of Design No. 7,429, dated May 12, 1874; application filed April 21, 1874.
' [Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J. \V. FIsKE, of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain Improvements in Design for an Ornamental Vase, of which the following is a specification:
This is a design for an ornamental vase, the nature of which is clearly shown in the accompanying photographic illustration.
The bowl of the vase is made with its lower part B in the form of a flattened spheroid, and has a single oval projecting molding, 1), around its greater diameter. The upper portion is made very flaring, and terminates in an overhanging border or edge composed of alternate large and small scallops B and D which are eoncave on their upper surface, and separated one from the other by a raised portion, b, as shown. This upper or flaring portion of the bowl is ornamented on its exterior surface by leaves in relief. The bowl rests upon a body, A, smallest in diameter at its center, where it has a projectin g annular head or molding, and from whence it curves rapidly outuard, both above and below, its upper portion terminating in a scalloped annular proj cction, a, the body being grooved or fluted on its sides vertically. Above the projection to is still another portion, composed externally of a double row of vertical leaves curving outward at their upper ends, and on this the bowl rests. At the bottom the body rests on a quadrangnlarhase, to which it is joined by an oval molding, ornamented in relief on its surface.
What I claim as my invention is The design for a vase, substantially as herewith shown and described.
JOSEPH W. FISKE. \Vitnesses JOHN H. BIRD, B. F. BLAIR.
