TOWEL HOLDER, &c.
[Appliutiou fllod lb, 9, 1899.;
WITNESSES: INVENTOR'.
ATTORNEY UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH SCHNARR, OF NEWARK, NElV JERSEY.
DESIGN FOR A TOWEL-HOLDER, aw.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design NO. 30,917, dated May 30, 1899. Application filed Kay 2, 1899. Serial No. 715,371. Term of patent i years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J OSEPH Seaman, acitizen of the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Towel-Holder or Similar Article; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertaius tomake and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, and which form a part of this specification.
In the said drawings, Figure 1 representsa face view of my new and original design for a towel-holder or other similar article; and Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same, taken on line cc in said Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference are employed in the said above-described views to indicate corresponding parts.
The views are deemed sufiicient to fully illustrate my design, the leading feature of which consists in the peculiar configuration or form of the surface or face of the holder, as well as in the ornamental marginal configuration of the same, substantially as herein described and claimed.
Referring to said drawings, a indicates the holder, the marginal edge of which is arched or outwardly curved, as at a, forming several of such arched portions, and from each end of said curved or arched portions a extend inwardly toward the center of the device a spiral or volute ends a, which terminate in raised parts a of semispherical shape. Each pair of "said spiral or volute end portions 0 are connected by an inwardly-curved part a, and spaced between and in front of each pair of such raised part a is a ball-shaped portion a, as clearly indicated in said Fig. 1. The lower arch a terminates in a downwardlyextending part b, which is curved, as at b, and is formed with an upwardly-extending piece b, thus forming an ornamental hook, as clearly represented in both figures of the drawings. The body or face of the holder is ornamented with a centrally-disposed starshaped ornamentation, comprising a series of radially-arranged and ornamental lobes c, which are connected by the curved bands 0 and c, said lobes being further ornamented with a raised portion c at the point of each lobe and a depression 0 in each lobe, said depression being bounded by the sin nous curved edge a of the raised portion (2 and the inner curved edge of the band 0', as clearly illustrated. The center of said star-shaped ornament is further enhanced by means of a raised annular bead c, and in the middle of the same is a circular hole 0'.
Having thus described my novel design, what I claim is- The design for a towel-holder or similar article, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the invention set forth above I have hereunto set my hand this 1st day of May, 1899.
JOSEPH SCHNARR.
