INVENTOR QMW 1 ATTORNEY.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ED\VIN S. IIAFF, OF BROOKLYN, NElV YORK.
DESIGN FOR A CAKE OF CHEWING-GUM, 80c.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,207, dated January 25, 1898.
Application filed July 12, 1897. Serial No. 644,341. Term of patent 14: years.
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDWIN S. IIAFF, a citizen of the United States, and a r'esident of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Cakes of Chewing-Gu m and Confectionery, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a specification.
In the drawings, Figures 1 and 2 are side elevations of opposite sides of the design, respectively; and Fig. 3, a vertical sectional elevation thereof, taken in the plane a: m of Fig. 1.
The leading feature of my design consists in a general crown-shaped body which is composed of a suitable base and two converging elliptic spheroidal-shaped portions extending upward and outward therefrom, with a similarly -shaped ornament arranged between them and surmounting the central portion of the design.
(1 indicates the base of the design, which consists of a band that is scalloped or indented around its upper edge, and b 6 two elliptic spheroidal-shaped lobe-like portions which extend upward and outward from the base in converging directions. Extending across between these portions 1) b is a thin web 0, which supports over the center of the base a an elliptic spheroidalshaped ornament (Z, and has formed upon each of its sides an ornamental tri-arn1ed projection e, the arms of which extend outward toward and connect with the lobes b b and the ornament d, forming therewith an ornamentation that is both graceful and extremely attractive in appearances.
Having now described my invention, I claim- A design for cakes of chewing-gum and confectionery, consisting in a general crownshaped body, which is composed of the base a, the elliptic spheroidalsl1aped lobes Z) Z), the Web 0, and the elliptic spheroidal-shaped surmounting ornament d, as set forth.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 8th day of July, 1897.
EDWVIN S. I-IAFF.
