DESGN FR 4300K SEVE o 4 8 2 5 .y mmm APR 181871 latini @da GEORGE WELLHOUS E, OF AKRON, OHIO.
Design No. 4,825, dated April 18,1871.
DESIGN FOR A CCOKING-STOVE.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it 'may con-cern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE WELLHOUSE, of Akron, in the county of Summit and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new configuration or Design for a Cook-Stove, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the accompanying photographic illustration.
The general outline of the design of this stove is similar to that of this class of stoves now in ordinary use, whereas the detail of the design varies in some important points considerably therefrom.
This stove is intended for burning either wood or coal, and, therefore, to burn wood of the ordinary wood-stove length, the fire-place or box A is made longer than that of the ordinary coal-stove, thereby making a projection of the ends of the fire-box beyond the sides of the stove, as shown in the illustration at A.
The projections in front, near the top of the stove, though common to coal-stoves, are not applied to a wood and coal-stove. In this particular my stove diers from others of this class.
Below the projections above referred to, and near the hearth, is a register, whereby the draught is admitted to or shut off from the lower side of the firegrate, as shown in the illustration.
The upper one of the two small doors is that giving access to the fire-box, and is ornamented bya panel inner undulating border surrounds the head, and is inclosed by a plain heavy molding as au outer frame.
The two oven-doors are ornamcnted in the same way, having the same general character of expression.
The rear end of the top of the stove projects beyond the body, and from which proceeds the due.
On each side thereof` is a boiler-hole, represented as being closed by the covers, as are the four other holes in the top.
Below the projecting rear end referred to is a grated shelf attached to and projecting from the back of the stove.
The whole outline edge ofthe stove is finished in a bold plain molding, making a smooth, clean, and handsome nish, all of which several features specied make up a new and beautiful design, unlike that of any other of this class of stoves.
