UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ALBERT A. HOLMES, OF MARSHALL, MICHIGAN.
DESIGN FOR A CABINET FOR HOLDING COATS, UMBRELLAS, 80c.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,920, dated May 20, 1902.
Application filed December 12, 1901. Serial No. 85,702. Term of patent 7 years- T0 at whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ALBERT A. I-IoLMEs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Marshall, in the county of Calhoun and State of Michigan, have invented and produced a certain new and useful Design for a Cabinet for Coats, Umbrellas, &c.; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for a cabinet forholding umbrellas, coats, &c., the essential features of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a front elevation of my cabinet. Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the cabinet.
Reference now being had to the details of the design by letter, A designates the cabinet, which is provided with a frieze B, extending about its upper edge, the outer face of said frieze being convexed and having semi-oval beadin gs 0, between which are anchor-shaped headings D, the ends of the fiukes of said anchors being continuous with the outer margins of the beadings. Within each semielliptical beading is a convexed semi-elliptical outlined surface E, the outer surface of which is flush with the surface of said bead- 111g.
The upper ends of the beading and convexed surfaces contained within each beading terminate in the inclined shoulder G, which merges into the vertical face of the frieze at an obtuse angle, as at G. The lowest part of each elliptical beading contacts with an inclined shoulder L, the lower edge of which shoulder merges into a horizontal portion on the edge of the frieze. The marginal edges of the cabinet have a heading M, on the opposite sides of which beading are grooves N, which are parallel to each other. The lower end of the beading at each end of the cabinet terminates at the upper outer end of a compound curve 0, which curve ends at P and merges into a curved portion Q, as shown clearly in the end elevation, Fig. 2. The edges of the rectangular outlined panels of the doors have bevels, as at B, said bevels terminating at points R adjacent to the corners of said panels, the adjacent ends of the bevels about the margin of the panels being on the arc of the same circle.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is The design for a cabinet for holding umbrellas, coats, &c., substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ALBERT A. HOLMES.
Witnesses:
